  1. I hear ya. If I make it to the lake on Friday, I'll post another report. We'll catch up one of these days.
  2. Chrome sexy shad Summer sexy shad
  3. Good question. I'm wondering exactly the same. I'll be using a medium spinning rod to throw these light weight jig heads & small swimbaits. Figured it'll be easier to get hook penetration with the light wire hook. But it might still be ok for me, I'm using 10 lb braid on my spinning set up with no mono or fluoro leader. I did see these VMC Ike approved swimbait heads are available at Wally World. I'm like you - I hate to make a $50 order on TW to get the free shipping when all I want are a few packs of swimbait jig heads.
  4. I got a Spro Fat John 60 for Christmas. Looking forward to trying it out. I also wanna try the Baby Fat John 50. Looks like it would be a good alternative to the Baby 1-. I have a few spots where they stack up in 2-4 ft throughout the spring & fall. Super shallow cranks slay em some days.
  5. Both. I live in the south & fish mostly small ponds/lakes, 200 acres or less. Most the places I fish are very shallow with max depth of 8 - 12 ft. Most times, I'm fishing 6 FOW or less. I just recently purchased a few of the the 6th sense shallow cranks after reading some good things about them. I'm really excited about trying out the Movement 80x this spring & summer. It's supposed to have a great "built-in" hunting action.
  6. Hey @WDE, I might try to head back out to Halle Park on Friday if you're in the neighborhood. Weather is supposed to be nicer, like 50 & sunny. I figure if the fishing stinks there might head to a few other spots in the area. Lemme know if you wanna meet up.
  7. I've only gotten into shallow cranking over the last few years, well seriously anyway. Something I saw from a video clip with Rick Clunn turned the light on for me & since, shallow cranking has become my top confidence bait for numbers & big bass. I have a number of baby 1-, KVD squarebills, etc. I was about to pull the trigger on a few of these Yo-Zuri 3DB shallow cranks earlier while I was window shopping on TW. These prism colors sure look good. Anybody use these much? But it also got me wondering what some of everybody's fav shallow cranks were.
  8. Well, I learned my lesson this year. Just about all the great deals were gone by 6 pm yesterday. Next year, I'll be there when the doors open the day after Christmas.
  9. Got a few decent things from Santa. This is mostly stuff I picked up over the last month, then wrapped & told the wife.... look what you got me for Christmas. Lol. P.S. The Bob's Butt Wipes were from my fishing buddy. I think he really bought those for himself for the next time we're on the water & he feels the need to pay his taxes. ????
  10. That might be what I'm using a few of now. I can't remember where I got them. Might've been Wally World. I'll check em out.
  11. Anybody have good suggestions for small swimbait jigheads? Looking for something with quality hooks (Gammy or Owner) that'll work for using small, solid body swimbaits like the keitech easy shiner & similar 3.5 - 4" swimbaits. Probably 1/8 - 3/16 oz.
  12. I did most the damage with a little finesse swimbait - a 3.5" keitech easy shiner on a 1/8 oz round jig head. I'd just throw it out and swim it back to the bank with a slow & steady retrieve. Seemed to be what they wanted. Most bites were coming within bout 10 yards of the bank. I did catch 2 on a Strike king Redeye shad.
  13. Went to Halle Park yesterday & actually did pretty well. Caught 10 total in a couple of hours. Nothing big, but the biggest was about 2 lbs.
  14. Our Academy has stuff marked way down, but that stuff went fast. Everything was pretty much gone. Including Lew's all American hero baitcasters for $9! That's right $9!!!! For that price, I'd bought 3 or 4.
  15. Zoom ultravibe speed worm. I have hard time not catching fish with it. Works great t rigged or on a shakey head. Zoom dead ringer on a t rig is a close 2nd.
  16. Sure did look a little iffy in that 1st half tho. Dak had a great game - 3 TDs.
  17. Nice haul for a winter outing!
  18. Nice ones. What kind of lipless crank is that?
  19. Ooh. Never thought about a dead ringer on a shakey head. Gonna have to give this a try. ?
  20. Yeah, that's the problem with these types of baits. They look great & have great swimming action. But don't cast worth a flip. ? I have a Spro & a cheap Academy swimbait. Both helicopter bad when casting.
  21. +1 from me. For EWG hooks, I use nothing but Gammys and Owner. Never had a problem with either. Both are super sharp. FWIW, the Owner treble hooks are excellent also. Those Trokar are just too dang expensive.
  22. Baby 1- or Redeye shad. Shakey head with a Zoom ultravibe speed worm.
