Lowrance Or Hummingbird
First of all what features do you want? Regular Sonar---Single or Dual Frequency Imaging Sonar---Side or Down or both GPS---with or without mapping Color or Monochrome display Screen Size Don't count on anyone at Bass Pro knowing anything about Humminbird products.

Twin Troller Experience
I haven't been in one but have seen it demoed and used while fishing on several occasions by a couple of anglers. It is very maneuverable since it has two electric motors that are used for steering and controlled by two foot pedals.

Carolina Rig?
A Strike King jig with the horizontal line tie works the best for a Carolina rig weight. Also break off the lip of a jerkbait so it won't dive when you pull it (less hangups).

Humminbird 798/898 Waypoints Info
I'm not into the designated waypoint icon selection deal. I use a couple and have no problem remembering why I saved a particular waypoint. Basically I don't care what the selections are. The + is good enough for me for all of them. I do have some that are the camera icon when I take a screen snaphot and see no need to change it to some other icon. Sonar units are not all about fishing, they are used for other purposes so the icons reflect the overall use of the GPS technology.

Humminbird 798/898 Waypoints Info
No, the Waypoint Management software for the 898, 889 and 1198 has not been released yet. Did you load the new Waypoint Management software 5.840 for your 798 so you would know what it was all about? The larger units are getting some extra software goodies with the next update, including the Waypoint Management, so stay tuned. The 898 is not being replaced by a newer model so don't expect any closeout sale on that model like what happened with the 798c SI and 798ci SI units being replaced by the 798ci HD SI. There are some marine electronics dealers that sell below MSRP so you should Google that model for the best prices. Bass Pro and Cabelas sell MSRP.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
I fished the Anna hot side yesterday with a couple of kids. We fished for about 4 hours and caught a total of 24 bass and 1 catfish--had missed hooksets on about a dozen others that hit. The weatherman lied about the partly cloudy to clear weather. It was cloudy, windy and COLD all day.

Lake Maps
Yes, it has Briery Creek, Sandy River with contours, but just shows Diascund as an outline. Lake Anna has the HD survery contours on the cold side and the older contour map for cooling pond 2, but doesn't have any contours on cooling pond 1 and 3.

The Wacky Rig
The top picture is Briery Creek Lake in VIrginia and the bottom picture is Lake Fork in Texas. The rigging of the Octopus hook in the worm is just Tx rigging in the middle. I use the electrical heat shrink tubing to keep the hook eye from pulling out of the worm when pulling it through heavy cover. The rig without the tubing looks like this:

The Wacky Rig
Your "ANYWHERE" and my anywhere are nowhere alike.

The Wacky Rig
All you need is the rig in my avatar. It can be used anywhere. The picture is with a Trick worm and I do the same with a finesse worm. I call it the Weedless Wacky Rig.

Lake Maps
I got the Android Navionics app for my tablet. The way the tablets and smart phone screens are, they are difficult to read in bright sunlight.
-
Drop Shot Rig Heavy Tackle
I magnum dropshot in timber a lot in the summer. I use a regular offset worm hook and Tx rig a Trick worm with a 1/4 oz or 1/2 oz weight. 20# fluorocarbon leader on 50# superline.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
The warm weather the past couple of days didn't turn the fish on like I expected even though yesterday some areas at Sandy River had surface water temps over 50 degrees. Still caught a few though. I didn't land any at Briery on Tuesday. Sure was windy both days.

24V Battery Question
You would have the run time of the smallest battery.

Hds Trolling Motor Transducer
Glen, Transducer Shield and Saver has a metal mount/protector for the Lowrance puck ( SSC-2 ) or skimmer ( SSC-1 ) for mounting on the trolling motor. They are in the Bass Pro catalog.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
Sam, I have fished both lakes near Culpeper, but that was before Briery Creek Lake was opened to fishing. That would be over 20 years ago.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
All were caught in the main part of pond #2 mostly on the dike. I didn't go in the creek past the bridge except for the tourney start and weigh-in. The winning weight came from pond #3.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
Our best 5 was just under 7#

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
I fished some warm water Sunday. The water temp ranged from 70-55 degrees depending on which part of the Lake Anna hot side. Partner and I caught 10 tournament keepers out of 14 landed. The winning weight was in the 15# range for 5 bass. Sure was windy though.

Waypoints Changing?
This is from an owner in Missouri with the same brand:

Waypoints Changing?
The spec accuracy of modern GPS units is 3 meters for the best models. Not only are GPS satellites used for position, the WAAS satellites are used. The WAAS satellites are near the equator and are positioned there for airplane navigation. I think there is another satellite system used too. Another one that was used and may be still is the radio antenna type along the coast. Selective Availability was turned off by order of Pres. Clinton in 2000. http://www.gps.gov/s...dernization/sa/ If Edwin Evers has one of the other brands of GPS equipment he may experience position errors that may make returning to waypoints more difficult. I regularly get 2' EPE with my units and so do many others with the same equipment. I was assisting with a SAR operation recently and found a possible return. I saved a waypoint and returned to the base of operation to show those in charge, I led a dive boat back to the location, dropped a marker exactly on top of it and a diver went straight down to identify the return that was negative for the subject of the search.

Mono Or Copolymer With No Stretch?
Braided line stretches a little also due to the weave. A fused superline is the only one that doesn't stretch--Fireline is one of them.

Fluoro And Braid.. Your Thoughts?
That has been discussed many times http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/95949-braid-to-flouro-leader/
