  1. Luke, you could always contribute the amount of money that McDonalds does or even more and tell the IOC to not allow McDonalds to advertize or contribute. Yes, money talks
  2. Have you tried your local Walmart or stores near any Guntersville ramps? I have seen them on display at: Waterfront Grocery and Tackle Goose Pond Colony Bait and Tackle Scottsboro Walmart
  3. The deepest water is near the dam and the deepest contour line is 20'. Most of the lake is less than 15' deep. The outer edge of the white area is the 10' contour.
  4. Troy is the BEST guide I have fished with------EVER.
  5. Did you do a web search for that model? Spell it correctly and you may find a few Humminbird The buycheaper.com site has a bunch as well as several others
  6. burley, you won't find a nicer person than Troy. Get him to sing one of his recent original tunes.
  7. SPAZ, if you want some Triple Grips that were installed on Bandits, you have have all the ones I have replaced and haven't throw away yet.
  8. I use a three turn uni-uni knot for the backing and a six turn uni-uni for a leader if applied. Line diameter is not a factor.
  9. I agree about the size, but disagree about the where.
  10. Everstarts are the "house brand" for Walmart/Sam's. They are made by whatever company will build them for the price Walmart is willing to pay for them. Now you will find some made by Exide and Johnson Contols until the Exide ones are sold out. The Johnson Controls supplied ones will be available until another company gives Walmart a better deal. The lower price for those batteries is a result of volume buying from the mfg. and is a good business practice by both companies.
  11. Good point M Starr, the display boats do seem to be playgrounds for kids sometimes.
  12. Check out Sno-Seal
  13. Another thing to consider is that the densest water is about 39 degrees and if it gets colder than that, it's buoyant. That means in a lot of bodies of water if the surface temp is close to freezing, the fish will be on or near the bottom until the shallower water warms above 39 degrees.
  14. You may be correct for other line makes, but in the case of Vanish, I'd look elsewhere.
  15. I sent you an e-mail.
  16. Another note, when you register your purchase, you will get a free download of Humminbird PC which is the computer based waypoint management tool and any current unit software upgrades.
  17. Any GPS units store waypoints in their internal memory. The 788 has a dual SD card reader for adding Navionics cards and blank SD cards for computer waypoint management and software upgrades. You can save screen shots with that unit also. The built-in uni-map has some bottom contours on a few bodies of water but is VERY limited. You may want to add the Navionics Hotmaps Premium software for your region at some point.
  18. Call Humminbird and tell them that is what you want to do. Some suppliers will do it when you purchase the units.
  19. I've lost lures and fish with the Speed Clips, but it still use them. The most secure snaps are the coastlock type, but they are difficult to install on some crankbaits and topwaters. Carrington, the chance of KVD using a snapswivel on a crankbait is as much as him using live bait during an Elite tournament.
  20. Check my edited answer too.
  21. It's the same unit as the 798ci SI without the SI capability. You won't be dissappointed with your choice. It does have the highest resolution screen in the LCR industry. With the internal GPS antenna, installation is easy. When you get them, leave the transducer for at least one of them in it's package and exchange it for a trolling motor transducer. If you are going to do a shoot-thru transducer for the console unit, exhange the other one for the puck type with the remote temp sensor.
  22. The amount of line on the spool, the strength available, and the spool diameter.
  23. The type of service provided by a BPS or independent Tracker/Nitro dealer is relative to the service personnel. That goes for any boat dealer. Ask local purchasers for their experience with either. How someone is treated somewhere you are not has no bearing on the service you may experience. Your local BPS may have the best service personel in the area----or not.
  24. All of the smaller diameter superlines will dig into the spool more than the larger diameters no matter which brand. Samurai is no better or worse for that. I use the Samurai 30# and 40# on spinning gear and the 40# which is 8# mono diameter is less prone to digging in when subjected to stress. Use at least the 8# mono equivelent diameters to lessen diging in and also keep tension on the line as much as possible when using them. When installing the superlines, keep a lot of tension on the line to get a tight wind on the reel spool. Even the smaller diameter lines can be used with no substantial problems if user error is eliminated.
