The transducer is a combo speaker and microphone. It PRODUCES a sound (speaker) and it also RESPONDS to the return echo sound(microphone). It's similar to radar where a sound pulse is transmitted and the echo (return) is read to determine distance.

Since you "ordered" it, it should not have had any hanging-on-the-rack display usage. The reel is mostly plastic and is more noisy than a all metal reel. After you remove it from the package and it still seems noisy, return it for a replacement. Those reels are sold at Walmart and you can do a comparison before you return it and purchase another.

I install a tie down on my fishing hats similar to the outback hats. I put a grommet on each side of the bill at the sweat band, then put a shoe string thru each grommet, and then tie those together with a spring loaded adjuster. I holds my hat on when I am a passenger in a single console boat at 75mph.

The non-agressive hits by bass is why I do not use Triple Grip or EWG trebles. I use the round bends. While the Triple Grip and EWG hooks do a good job of keeping them buttoned up when hooked, you have to stick them to land them.

With the more open water at Sandy, a crankbait this time of year works very well. Just fish the upper 1/3 of the lake and stay near the creek channels where the bottom depth is less than 10'. There are areas were small cypress trees are located, fish those dropoffs with bottom bouncers like jigs, Tx rigs. If you want to catch a bunch, use a lightly weighted wacky rigged finesse worm.

I rarely use the Gamakatsu Weedless Finesse Wide Gap hooks. The wire is too light for big fish in heavy cover and in sizes less than 3/0, missed fish happen often due to the hook eye being too close to the hook point. It is a passible dink hook though in the 3/0 and 4/0.

Sandy River Lake is NOT an electric only lake yet. It is and always has been a 10HP max gas motor limit which is the same as Briery Creek and Nottoway Lake.

Matt Fly, I think not in my case. It's only 5 separate small 12V output transformers all powered from a single 120V outlet and are not combined into a single larger one powered by power grid voltage. It is not much different than having an entertainment center in your house with all it's components (all of which have a common 120V power source with multiple transformers). It has no comparison to the high voltage power grid.

I carried a 10' aluminum jon boat (30" bottom) in the back of a S-10 Blazer and later in the short bed of a S-10 pickup for many years without any paint damage. I just used carpet to protect the surfaces that the boat touched. The tailgate, when down on both vehicles, gave plenty of support. Load the boat transom end first and use a red flag tied to the front carrying handle as a extended load warning.

All the largemouth I have caught over 9# have been during the mid-day period.

You can adjust the ping speed either to a higher or lower setting than the default 50% on the LCX 125 and it may lessen the cross talk.

I have 5 batteries in my Tracker with the negatives of 4 of them gounded to the hull (for sonar interference elimination) and when charging I have not noticed any voltage-to-ground leakage. I use a 3 bank Dual Pro for the bow trolling motor, and two Schumacher single bank portable chargers for the other two batteries.

Can you post a picture of the transducer mounting? You say it is mounted as low as it will go, but that depends on how/where it is mounted whether it is done correctly for your application.

Paul, the gloves can be cut with scissors, but that would allow water to enter and defeat the purpose of the waterproof quality. I've tried all the other types mentioned and the absence of wet hands from sweating in neoprene or with other types will keep you fishing longer. The Serius Hyperlite gloves are thin enough for baitcasting use and keep the water spray off your hands from casting.

Does the motor run when you set the switch at the front of the pedal to "Continuous On"? Does it run on the "High Bypass" setting with the micro switch pushed?

Too stiff and too much memory for my taste. Makes a good backing though.

Another use for electrical shrink tubing I forgot about. 1/8" available at your local Lowes, Radio Shack, Home Depot, etc.
