An additional cost with the HDS units is the Structure Scan module and transducer for about $600. Humminbird will be releasing a free software upgrade next month that will add the Down Imaging feature to the Side Image units. That will give the same total available views that Lowrance has with the Structure Scan add-on.

Methods for Charging a 36 volt system
txfisherman, that charger is a Dual Pro model. It's strange that the advertizement didn't show the mfg. Their Pro model is 15A per bank

C Underwood "Holiday Special"
I watched it until the gay issue was promoted. Bad taste with that Hollyweird bunch.

No, it is a a couple of trees together in the creek channel where it makes a turn. One is horizonal and the other is standing but leaning. A post spawn hot spot.

Try Free Studio Manager. I used it to convert some mini-DV tapes to DVD

Remember the discussion a few months ago about what was showing in the creek channel when I was doing the thermocline shots?

Fishfinder Troubleshooting Help Needed
I rode around in the cold/cloudy conditions for a couple of hours with the 798 and got these shallow readings. I had the Switchfire set on "Clear" and the sensitivity set to 5.

Ice fishing fishfinder
This is Lowrance's ice fishing setup based on one of their compact color LCR units: http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/IceMachine-Portable-Fishfinders/X67C-IceMachine/

For more versitility, a regular LCR color unit that has a choice of a flasher screen and/or RTS (real time sonar) will do the same as the Vexilar flasher units. Several Lowrance and Humminbird units have those features. Any sonar unit can be made portable. This is a screen on the Humminbird 798ci SI

The horizonal sonar is called Side Finder and is nothing like Side Imaging. I had the full size version of the Bottomline Side Finder on one of my former boats.

"They" may be bowfin or pickerel also.

Fishfinder Troubleshooting Help Needed
Make sure your transducer is pointing perpendicular to the bottom regardless of boat attitude (the way the boat sits on the water). Lower the sensitivity setting to about 30%. The TVG may do that automatically.

Fishfinder Troubleshooting Help Needed
I will be installing a 798ci SI this weekend. I have a Matrix 97 and it gives depths in tenths also. With the wave/wake action on the Potomac, certainly you will get varying depth changes constantly and noticeably in shallow depths. This is a screen shot I did at Briery Creek when passing over vegetation, then a deeper open space, on to vegetation again, notice the depth reading.

Chalk another one up for USPS
When shipping rods, put strong tape around the rod handle and put the other end on out of the tube holding the handle near or against the cap. Then put the end cap on. That prevents the rod tip from making contact with the other end of the tube which is why it can get broken in ANY tube. Wrapping the rod in newspaper will cushion it from side impact.

Quick Question About Navionics Mapping Chips
The waypoint transfer is correct as far as the map software card, BUT you can download the saved waypoints of one unit onto an easily obtained blank SD card and upload them to another directly within the same brand or they can be converted to be read by another brand.

Adding Gauges
Just call the boat factory and get a wiring diagram e-mailed to you. I just did that yesterday for my Tracker.

Methods for Charging a 36 volt system
For overnight charging, you can buy three portable 12V chargers and hook one to each battery. It will do the same thing as an on-board three bank charger. You may find a single 36V charger. About your only other choice is to quit fishing early and charge one at a time with a single portable charger until each is fully charged.

I'm still catching bass. I fished Briery Creek two days ago and caught them in the same areas as I have since Spring with the same presentation.

problems with leader knot
I use a 6 turn uni-knot for attaching a leader and after I tie the knots and pull the tag ends with a lot of effort, I pull the lines very hard to get the connection as small and tight as possible. Then I cut the tag ends flush with each knot. Cutting the tag ends flush has reduced the tip hangups considerably on retrieve and I have never had a problem when casting.
