Bassnajr, I hope he wasn't just blowing smoke like they have done in the past with this same issue. It's been on-going since Vista was introduced.

Hammer 4, the Samurai 55# is the diameter of 10# mono. There is no 12# mono equivalent diameter in that line of product. That is just one of the reasons it is a better line than most any other superline. It is smaller in diameter for each pound test class. I use the 30# which has a 6# mono equivalent diameter for finesse presentations.

I tried the 520c emulator and it didn't work. Maybe all the files available are not Vista compatable due to some being discontinued products and LEI feels the effort to update those is not needed. I suspect more current models are compatable.

I do it a lot. I have two combo VCR/DVD recorder/players made by Panasonic. My wife records soap operas and uses the DVD RAM discs for those recordings instead of the now discontinued VCR tapes. Both have one button dubbing (it's so easy a cave man can do it)

Update::: on another website, some have said the emulator/Vista compatability issue has been fixed. Give it a try if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7

sqhertz, I have a couple dozen rods with the Fuji concept guide set-up and don't see any difference between using mono or braid. It's an non-issue whether by rod brand or guide system (excluding the recoil guides though---too noisy)

A braid that is the same diameter as 15# mono is about the 65# test. If you reel performs well with the mono, it will perform even better with the same diameter braid due to the lack of spool memory. If you "need" more line length on your reel, you can downsize to the lighter size braid which will have a smaller diameter. One of the pluses with superlines is you can have a small diameter line with a lot more strength than monos. Most chose a diameter that packs well on the spool and doesn't dig in when stressed. The 10# mono equivelent diameter superlines and larger do a better job of that.

An eddy is an area of calm water near rushing water created by something that blocks the water flow. It can be downstream of an obstruction or on the downstream side of the inside of a bend in a river. A deep pool can be identified in three ways. 1. Usually an area of calmer water with fast water upstream and downstream of it. 2. The color of the water (if clear) looks darker. 3. Placing yourself in it and noticing it is a lot deeper than it looked before you placed yourself in it. Current break---correct Rip-Rap is a man made pile of rocks that are placed in an area that is subject to erosion and is ment to lessen/prevent that erosion. As you travel down a highway and notice a bunch of rocks where an overpass is (yep, rip rap). Some earthen lake dams are stabilized with piles of rocks (yep, rip rap). Some home owners put a pile of rocks where their roof gutter downspout meets the ground (yep, rip rap), a lot of waterfront properties use a pile of rocks along their shoreline (yep, rip rap again),etc.

The most obvious place for a leak with that age boat is the plumbing for the livewell including the pump. Plastic does not last as long as aluminum.

I use a Chatterbait when a spinnerbait can't be fished slow enough near the surface for the conditions.

StrokerAce, just do a Google search for it. Be aware that some dealers show a low cost and the reason is that it does not come with some needed components such as transducer or GPS antenna. Read the advertizement carefully. Some of the higher cost units come with all components and Navionics software. Buyer Beware !!!!!!

If you get the 917c Combo as shown on the Humminbird website, it comes with the GPS antenna, power cord, transducer, and mount. The Hotmaps Premium is $149 for the region you need. If you get an older/cheaper version, you get the 16 channel GPS antenna. If you get the newer issue, you get a 50 channel GPS antenna.

Claytor is loaded with spotted bass. Just about any presentation will catch them, especially finesse.

Fishbone, there is no performance difference in the antennas. Some like the external antenna for the display on the console because they can mount the antenna above the sonar transducer to get an accurate fix on what is seen on the sonar. Some like the internal antenna (me) because finding a place and running the wire for an antenna is not needed. On some craft, a radio frequency blocking fixture will prevent the antenna from receiving so it has to be mounted remotely. The external antenna for most brands looks like a white domed hocky puck. You can visit any mfg website and look at the accessories for a unit to see what it looks like. For Side Imaging by Humminbird and Structure Scan by Lowrance, you have to adapt to the way it is displayed on screen. For us old timers, the change from flashers to LCR units was an adjustment also. Lowrance and Humminbird units can be purchased with or without other product software. Most prefer the Navionics software for their units for the best detail, and bodies of water covered. Pre-loaded mapping may not be as complete as the separately purchased regional software. Also with so many bodies of water available digitally, most units don't have the memory capacity for all of it. For mapping GPS, your research should start with what bodies of water you navigate and then find out what unit mfg. will display whatever software that includes those bodies of water.

A note about the Lowrance emulator: if you have Windows Vista, it won't work. You need an older version of Windows.

This is the one I use on spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits: http://www.***.com/descpageTRLZOOM-ZOSTTR.html You just take one out of the package and thread about 1/2 of the solid part on the lure hook. It isn't complicated.

Both serve the same purpose. Most use a circuit breaker as it can be re-used after it opens (resettable). A fuse will work, but has to be replaced if it opens. Also with a fuse, you have more contact points for corrosion.

I'm not aware of any that you "tie" on , most just put it on the lure hook. Trailers are added to increase the bulk of the lure for attracting larger fish, making the lure fall slower, changing the profile, allowing for a slower retrieve, etc. A popular one is a crawfish shaped plastic bait on a skirted jig. Another one is a twin-tail short worm on a spinnerbait (aka: spinnerbait trailer). Some use a small swimbait as a trailer on spinnerbaits.

That loss of tension increases resistance, which causes heat in the outlet and voltage loss to the motor.
