  1. Those reels are awsome... Some of the best reels ever made... However they are not the most refined reels ever made so you will have a lot of difficulty throwing light lures... They are also not very good choices for flipping due to the slow startup of the spool. They excel at throwing big cranks and spinners as well as awsome catfishing reels..
  2. NEITHER get a Revo or Curado/Citica. All of the Quantums I've had suck balls, but thats just my opionion... That particular accurist you mentioned broke on me within a few short months... And their HEAVY.
  3. Something is defective on that particular reel. The Curado 200E7 is comparable in every way to the highest priced Shimanos. At the pricing point, I thnk it is the best reel on the market. Unfortunately, you have a dud. Roadwarrior I have to call your bluff on this issue again. This is in no way an attack on you as a person etc. and you are surely entitled to your opionion. However, in another post you said the new C14 was comparable in every way to a stella and now a curado to a calias ,core etc. This information is very misleading and simply not true. These higher end products are made of much better material and mechanically and functionally are totally different than the reels you compare them to. The curado and C14 are tremendous reels in their price range and I would recommend them to anyone, however the reels you try to compare them to are enthuiast class reels meaning cost is not a factor to the market they are trying to attract with these higher end reels. Enthuiast reels are made of the highest quality materials available for people who simply won't compromise on refinement even if it cost 500-1000$ And they DO GET the best available product. What you are doing is trying to compare a 40,000$ Corvette to a 90,000 Lingenfelter twin turbo Corvette. Sure both cars are really fast and will both do over 150 however the lingenfelter will smoke the base Corvette in every way possible and you expect this because the owners of the Lingenfelter payed 50,000$ more for that exact reason. These reels are not comparable to the highest end Shimano reels PERIOD........
  4. The Skeet Reese Revo is built off of a Premier frame. Last years model had a centrifical braking system as opposed to a magnetic on the premier. The handle was also longer on the Skeet. Basicallly if you choose to get the Skeet you are paying more for a few extra bearings all in the handle area and the yellow color accents. The extra bearings in the handle may make the reel a bit smoother than the Premier. If you are buying the new 2010 models they both have an upgraded drag rated at 20lbs which is awsome. I have a premier as well as a STX and I absolutely love both however I also own a Curado 200e and if I were you I would just get the Curado and save myself like 70-80 bucks. The Curado is really sweet and just as smooth if not smoother than my revo's.
  5. I have two energy pt casting rods and they are my personal favorite. I like these rods better than any rod 150$ or less as they are light have quality components and blanks and are super sensitive. You will be really happy if you get one I promise. They have split grips. For finesse I might try a m/L however you said you plan to use it some in the salt so I would go with a 7ft m.
  6. Rhino that is the nicest friggin canoe I have ever seen in my life lol. Very impressive...
  7. Spinning Setup- Shimano stella STL2500FD on a Steez Rod. Baitcast Setup- Shimano core 100mg on a Steez rod.
  8. A good pitching reel needs a good lightweight spool that has a quick startup. The better spools make pitching effortless with one quick fluid motion. Good pitching reels also need a good drag with enough pressure to get those fish out of that cover before they wrap you up. The best reel I have for pitching is my Revo Premier followed closely by my Curado e5. Both of these reels are super high quality with the above mentioned qualities.
  9. I have had a lot more success over the years with a crankbait so I prefer a crankbait over a spinner most of the time. However, when there is just too much cover to snag I will go with the spinner. I also tend to use a spinner more in the winter so I can slow roll the bait for those lethargic fish. 99% of the time when a fish hits a crank I catch them due to the super sharp treble hooks. I have had a lot of hits and misses with spinners.
  10. I use Zoom speed worms all the time. The speed worm is the paddle tail and the ultravibe has a u shaped tail that causes more commotion than a paddle tail. These worms look like a senko type bait with the addition of the two tails mentioned above. I usually cast these to the back of pockets with timber in them. I start by fishing them just like any other senko/worm simply casting them to a target ie. a tree in the back of the pocket and letting them fall on a slack line. If I dont get bit that way the tail action makes it the perfect bait to swim back to the boat and by all the other trees in that cove. Awsome bait , very versatile. You can even use these in place of cranks in places where you would snag a crank. Lose the weight and burn them like a buzzbait on the surface as well. Awsome
  11. I like to use a Shaky Head jig when I wacky rig stick baits. Strike king makes a good wacky jig for this setup. Remember to get those little o rings as they will save you a ton of baits.
  12. Shimano Stradic 2500fi is one of the finest reels I have ever owned. Silent, smooth as butter, great grips and drag. OY YA on E-bay has these reels brand new shipped for 127$ you will not be disappointed if this is what you choose.
  13. This is a little irresponsible IMHO. There is no comparison between a carbon stradic and one of the finest reels ever made. The stella is a far superior reel in every way and the new stradic's are nice just not even close to the same ballpark. However for 200 or less this might be the best reel you can purchase. Daiwa advantage is another nice reel in that range as well........
  14. Yes just make sure there is a fuse between the finder and the battery...
