Accurist pt or Code

Featured Replies

I'm looking at Quantums on eBay.

I 'm wondering which is the better?

The Code has more bearings.

Any feedback?

The Code is below the PT ( Performance Tuned ) and the bearings are not the high end bearings found in a PT model. Get a PT model. The older Accurist AC500PT are very good reels. My son in law bought the new 09/10 Accurist yesterday for 65 bucks new at a sportsman's show. The Catalyst was about 90 bucks. High bearing counts are good ( if top end bearing sets ) but top end bearing sets are not cheap and can reduce the need for the total number of bearing sets, i.e Shimanos etc. You will be happier with a PT for sure. :D

Thanks flippin and pitchin thats what I needed to know.

NEITHER get a Revo or Curado/Citica. All of the Quantums I've had suck balls, but thats just my opionion... That particular accurist you mentioned broke on me within a few short months... And their HEAVY.

another quantum hater. nice.

get the pt. my accurist pt is great in everway and quite honestly... my accurist pts (saltwater) easily casts as smooth and far... if not farther... than my pt tour edition. esp since i can control the accurist while the pt tour is WAY better than me and i have to have the brakes up.

i know nothing about the code except it APPEARS to be the kvd signature reel without his name on it. if it is then thats a good reel too. my kvd is light and smooth and easy to cast.  its also lasted 3 years or more now with narry a hint of a problem. what more can you ask?

esp. for the money?

Very insightful.

I have both reels and the pt reels perform a bit better.

Whatever you do do not get a Revo or Curado/Citica. All of the ones I've had suck balls, but that's just my opinion...

I had to do it . . . .

Definitely the pt. my dad has one and it is a great reel for the money... How much would you pay for each?

How much are the PT's going for $ ?

Cabelas has the catylst on sale for $100 right now.  I have a code and like it, not a big fan of the accurists profile.  I would say look for a PT as well, depending on your budget.  As for the " don't get a Quantum thing", had a revo S, actually had two, fished them a total of maybe a week and don't have either any more but still have my code and fish it some.

depends on the model.

bps has them as such...

kinetic pt -119

reax and kvd sig - 169

energy -189

tour edition - 259

these are all the "new" styles/models.

you can get the older discontinued ones like the accurists and such for about 100 bucks or less if you look around.

i got my tour editon (blue one) a while back for $100. mostly because it was left handed.

i got both my accurists for $80.

I've always liked Quantum reels. I think Quantum defines you get what you pay for more than anything. Even the cheap Quantums will cast well but may last only 1 season before stripping.

Owl, I have the new Accurist 7.0 Burner. Awesome reel. Super tiny, nothing like the old ones. I also have a Citica and I like the Accurist better.
