  1. I only carry 5 types of plastics, in a double sided 3500 box, the other side hard baits. 5 3/8" BPS Stick-O, watermelon red and junebug 4" Big Bite Baits Yo Mama, (Beaver) Talapia 4" Big Bite Baits Creature (Baby Brush Hog), Junebug red and watermelon red 6" Zoom Trick Worm, black 2.75" Zman TRD, PB and J and various other colors.
  2. Sometimes I want a steak dinner, other times I want a burger and fries, sometimes I just want a snack. Same concept.
  3. Reeling is very smooth, not much weight to turn the handle. Not 0 or effortless, I think that's more Vanquish territory. It compares well to the Vanford.
  4. Fellow Canadian here. I picked up a Daiwa Tatula LT 2000 at Sail for a sale price of $179 cad and the sale is still on now. Have not had a chance to use it yet, but spooled up some line and it looks to lay line well. It's lightweight and smooth, but again I haven't used it yet. The Stradic FL is a solid reel as well, I had the 2500, but wanted something lighter weight for finesse. If for some reason the Tatula LT doesn't work out, the Stradic FL 2000 SHG will probably be the reel I would get.
  5. I have two Rebellion rods. Very good rods in my opinion. The Tatula would make a good finesse rod probably, never fished one.
  6. Think line retrevial rate, inches per turn, IPT. Moving baits are generally a slower retrieve, bottom baits are generally faster retrieve. Gear ratio is a sort of misnomer. Same as line rating by lb test, using diameter is a more accurate judgement of the line. Same as rod power, no industry standard of what a MH power really is. Same as rod action and about 100 other things fishing related. Fishing a sport made complex by marketing terms and we have all fallen for it at some point. It takes time and experience with different equipment to really get a feel for what works best for you.
  7. 6'10" MH is a great all around length and power. Don't have the expride, but have the Daiwa Rebellion 6'10" MH-R 2 piece and it's great for bank and kayak fishing.
  8. 10lb yo zuri hybrid has been treating me well. But it's more like 14lb line, based on diameter.
  9. I have used kastking 4 carrier braid. Pretty decent for the price and quantity of line. It's thicker than advertised, but never had issues with it. I would not put it in the same category as suffix or power pro, but it's decent.
  10. I picked up two Daiwa Rebellion 2 piece rods last year. Love them.
  11. Spoiler alert...it probably ends in me being an idiot. I am man enough to admit my own faults ?
  12. I also have a Daiwa Alphas SV TW that's even slightly smaller that the curado 70 MGL. The Daiwa is quickly becoming my favorite reel so far, but I messed something up so it's out of commission for the time being.
  13. So I took one more look at the reel, went to the spool this time. I noticed a slight dent in the rim of the spool. Pictures don't show it, but I can feel it, it's slight but it's there. I must have mishandled the spool at some point. @Delaware Valley Tackle would this cause this type of noise? My thinking is the spool isn't locking into the pinion under drag because of the small bend in the rim of the spool, causing the spool to not properly fit against the reel.
  14. The curado is smaller. Had both, sold the SLX as I wanted the smallest reel. The SLX isn't big by any means, but the curado is more comfortable, in my opinion.
  15. If I can't get it fixed after one more try, it will probably be headed your way. I want a trusted professional to fix it if I messed it up. Hopefully I will learn a lesson here
  16. I bought both the 6'8" ML-F spinning and 6'10" MH-R casting rods, both 2 piece. Very impressive rods. Great value for the money. So versatile with the two rods, it is exactly what I was looking for.
  17. With zero adjust, set the spool tension to just a mm of side to side play, use the brake dial underneath the palm sideplate to adjust as needed. The idea is to set and forget the spool tension. As for the second part, I am sure someone far more knoiwledable than me will have a better idea.
  18. Not yet, tore it down and back up a few more times. Going to try one more thing and then looking to have it sent out for repair.
  19. No, the yoke has the silver metal piece showing in the center near the pinion gear. The yoke and pinion gear were put together and slide into the pinion bearing in the frame. Then the springs put on the posts, on top of the yoke. The yoke is black, as are the surrounding parts so it's hard to make out, but it has a silver piece in the center.
  20. I tried another round or 5 trying to solve this. I just can't seem to figure out why the pinion gear is not locking in the spool. Everything is out together the same as the schematics, but obviously I am missing something. I have tried to include a few close up pics. @Delaware Valley Tackle if you see anything out of place or know a short list of reasons the pinion gear won't seat properly, I would be extremely grateful.
  21. Thank you for the offer, that's what I love about this site, people always happy to help a fellow angler. I have it in pieces now, I think I am going to remove and clean everything again and reassemble, after I re-exam every little piece. Hoping I don't need a new pinion/main gear, as it's very new still, hopefully I didn't strip one of the spool locking grooves of the pinion. However, it will have to wait till Wednesday if I want to stay married. Wife's not going to allow trouble shooting a reel on valentines day
  22. I am in the Kitchener Waterloo area.
  23. If I wasn't Canadian, it would already be in the mail our shipping and duty fees are ridiculous.
  24. Yoke has been confirmed in the correct position, springs in good shape, Pinon itself in good shape. If I hold the spool with my thumb and reel against the drag its silent and smooth. Any chance grease or oil on the pinion gear spool locking part would cause this? 100% locked in place on the square part of the main shaft. Me after 11 teardown ... ?
  25. OK, came home after work took her apart and verified every single part is correctly installed. Put her back together, same thing. It feels like the spool brake drum is chattering against the magnetic brake sideplate. The only thing I did to the side plate or spool was put a drop of oil in the bearings. I don't get it.
