  1. I had a rod rack directly over the floor vents for years, never had a problem.
  2. Owned a Stradic FL 2500, solid smooth reel that felt like quality that would last a long time, but a bit heavy for what I wanted. Bought a Tatula LT 2000 , not the MQ version, last year. Very light, smooth drag, good quality, but not the same toughness feel as the stradic. Weighs much less than the stradic though. This fits the role for finesse fishing that I wanted. Both very solid reels.
  3. I have a 2000 size reel on my 6'8" ML-F spinning rod. Very lightweight set up.
  4. I fish from a kayak or the bank. Always liked shorter rods. Only in the last few years have I fished with a 7' rod. I find 6'10" the ideal all around length for my use. But I use 6'8"-7' rod regularly. One thing I learned over the years is that handle length needs to be considered in the equation. I like handle lengths around 14", some rods I have used had handle lengths of 17", which is 3" less usable rod length. I have a buddy who has a 7'1" rod that has the same usable rod length as my 6'10", his having a longer handle length. But handle to tip is the same length.
  5. I have switched all my rods to two piece. Way back when they would come apart on a cast, we'll the cheap ugly sticks anyways. My current rods are Daiwa Rebellion and Aird-X, two of each models, four total. None of them come apart or twist while fishing. Can't feel a difference between one piece and two piece. The two piece rods are far more convenient to transport for my family lifestyle.
  6. I really like the idea of those clips. Nice, small, black, kind of minimalist.
  7. I did see these, but I would like to have a bend in the rod, similar to fighting a fish, with the photos hanging from the rod guides. I like @jackstrawlll idea of using a screw to tie off to for the tip section of the rod and using a picture over the screw. I think the tricky part is on the handle and reel section...have to angle it upwards to create the bend and secure it top, bottom, and front to keep it falling off the wall. I don't want to risk ruining the rod by drilling into the cork. Also want the support frame to look good or not see it at all. I suck at this sort of thing
  8. I have a spinning rod from my uncle who passed away last year. I am thinking of wall mounting his rod and reel, then hanging family fishing pictures from the guides. Does anyone who's handy have any good ideas on how to mount the rod and reel on the wall securely, but still look nice? Will need support the handle near the reel as well as the rod blank as I want to create a curve in the blank. Thanks in advance.
  9. When I was researching them before buying, I saw some of YouTube videos of Japanese professional anglers sponsored by Daiwa using them. Didn't understood them as I don't speak the language, but I assume they were readily available in Japan.
  10. I bought both a spinning and casting in the Rebellion line. I have really liked them. For whatever reason they never advertised them or promoted them like the Tatula lineup. Not sure why as they have proven to be great rods. Mine are two piece rods, which is hard to find in a quality rod nowdays.
  11. Fast action, especially if you're going to use a braid for main line (less stretch). Also comfort in holding a rod, especially spinning, is everything to me. Spinning combos are meant for finesse for me, has to have a comfortable grip and reel seat. And unfortunately, everyone is different. I have a Daiwa Rebellion 6'8 ML-F spinning rod that is very comfortable. I like the way they designed the handle, I believe they have less expensive models with similar handles.
  12. Without knowing a whole lot of info, I would recommend you a Daiwa Aird-X 7ft MH-F Casting rod with a lew's LFS Speed Spool casting reel with 12lb yo zuri hybrid line. Assuming you are comfortable with casting equipment or your willing to learn. Great Value combo that is very versatile. Plus you would have some money left over for lures.
  13. I recently picked up some plano 3601thin tackle trays and thinking of storing both soft plastics and hard lures in the same box. The idea is to keep this box as a simplified box, storing my confidence baits. My only concern is the salt from the plastics may rust the hooks of the hard lures, but not sure that would happen if stored in seperate compartments. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  14. I reworked my Medium Light spinning set up at the beginning of last year. I paired a Tatula LT 2000 with a 6'8" ML-F fast spinning rod. I wanted the lightest set up I could get away with, without spending a fortune. It's worked out well so far. 10lb big game as backer with about 75 yds of 10lb braid.
  15. Yo zuri hybrid has treated me well as both a leader and main line.
  16. Looking to try a new brand of braid on a medium heavy baitcasting rod, maybe Berkley X9 in 50-65lb.
  17. Looking to use them as chatterbait trailers both full size and mini max, as well as weedless texas rigged. Mainly fishing for largemouth, smallmouth, and pike in Ontario. Usually fishing ponds and small lakes, and lake superior for two weeks a year. Kayak and bank angler. Also I have been generally target casting weeds, Rocky areas, and some wood. But my main question is what size would you recommend as the best overall size between 2.8", 3.3", 3.8", & 4.8"? Any brands suggestions or rigging tips is always appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  18. I'll buy the 6'9" ML-F elite tech smallmouth off you 😊 Been looking for one of those forever. I have two of the 6'10" M-F elite tech smallmouth casting rods. The ML-F spinning would be given a nice home with siblings.
  19. Daiwa Rebellion 6'8" ML-F Rated 3/32- 1/2oz Two piece rod Paired with a Daiwa Tatula LT 2000 Light weight, balanced, and sensitive.
  20. That always confused me as well. So this year I tried it over hydrilla and weeds, sure enough it works. Pike were smashing my chatterbait when reeling just over the weeds, a few smallmouth as well.
  21. I bought a Lew's Speed Spool LFS on sale in the spring. Fished it all season, I was so impressed I bought a second one in another gear ratio at full retail. Can't speak to longevity, but on the water experience with it has proven to be a winner. And at 1/3 - 1/2 the price of my other reels, it holds it's ground performance wise and compares well to my Daiwa and Shimano reels.
  22. Interesting ... I saw a tacticlebassin YouTube video awhile back that talked about Gamakatsu rods and jdm actions in general. Based on the ratings it sounds like a true heavy power rod. Still no idea of regular fast vs fast vs regular action, but I am sure you could use Google translate to find some jdm reviews. Let us know what you find though and good luck to you.
  23. Out of curiosity what is the exact rod your looking at and what is the Lure/line ratings? I find this to be a good general guide as the power rating. Not heard of regular fast action, only fast and regular. I am far from an expert though
  24. I have a MH regular action casting rod from Daiwa that I would describe as true MH power with a moderate fast tip. Slower than fast action, but faster than a moderate action. I have come to like this action. I have another more affordable Daiwa rod that's MH-F, but has a similar action.
  25. True, braid has no stretch. But it also has no slack line sensitivity because it is so soft / supple. Braid is super sensitive when the line is tight, but not so much when the line is loose. You can make up for that by using bright color braid and watch the line. I have been liking Yo Zuri hybrid for the last couple of seasons, minimal stretch, clear line, and decently sensitive, good knot strength. I will and do use braid as well, but only on spinning reels and on baitcasters when fishing weeds.
