  1. Maybe we should have some sort of ceremony to celebrate their success. Hows a week at Chickamauga sound?
  2. Next week I am getting my driver and passenger seats re-upholstered so I'll have to get some of this to protect it in the future. BTW, I know nothing about upholstry. Any clue what to expect as far the price to redo the seats? They look almost exactly the same as the ones pictured above. I'm not going with anything fancy, just one color and no designs on the fabric.
  3. I have a Curado K on my Abu Ike Signature series. Rod is 7'2", MH, Fast. Its a little cheaper than your Avid, runs about $150. Its my soft plastic rod, works great for flipping, pitching, and I can chunk it way out there if needed.
  4. I can't confirm 100% what I read, its just what I found doing some reading. I meant to put that in my post above, but it looks like I left it out.
  5. I will use a regular swivel with a C-Rig and a fluke, usually with braid to Fluro. I used snap swivels years ago, but I had them open up on larger fish on more than one occasion. I can retie fast so I just do that when I want to change. Past 3 years or so, my dad has started using snap swivels more, he says its getting harder to see the line to retie(I guess he doesn't want to have to get his reading glasses out of his tackle box every time he wants to change baits), especially in low light conditions.....something to look forward to with age I guess. ?
  6. I was trying to do a little reasarch and I found this. The H2O line of hardbaits that Academy carries is made by several different manufacturers. Spro makes there rattletrap bait, as it is exactly the same mold as an Aruku Shad. Bandit makes the small shallow and deep divers with the rounded lips. Lucky Craft makes the CRM and CRS shallow divers with the square bills. The jerkbaits and topwaters I am unsure. I was told that a private company contracted by Academy buys the unpainted bodys from those manufacturers and finishes and hooks them out and packages them. This info is from several years ago. If they are being discontinued, my only guess was that the contract expired and they couldn't work out another deal. I guess time will tell, I hope they aren't gone forever though. I've got nothing but good things to say about using H2O xpress square bills.
  7. I'm in the same boat as @OCdockskipper. I like MLF and don't want it to fail, but I could see the direct democracy that they setup within the organization as causing some problems in the future. Mainly because most people will always tend to vote in their best interests, rather than the interests of the organization as a whole. Maybe they have some rules in place in place that cannot be changed, that we don't know about. I hope it succeeds though, its pretty much the only reason I pay for my slingtv subscription.
  8. What about cold dirty water? Down here when the water temps get that low, most of the grass dies and the water gets pretty dirty. Less than 1' visibility, or even 6" or less in places. If i can find clear water I can usually get jerkbaits to work, but there are some days when the N wind is whipping and it muddies up just about all the water.
  9. LOL! That is hilarious and so true. Can you channel some of your inner Troy my way...so my PB can be between 10-11lbs as well?!?!?!?
  10. That's a bummer. I use a lot of H2O express Squarebills.
  11. PM me the address please.
  12. My boat is 10 years old. It was kept under a carport for the last 3 years I've had it, I don't know how the previous owner stored it. Based on how it looked when I bought it, I'd say it was either carport or boat cover kept. 3 of the of the seams on each chair are breaking, due to the stitching starting to dry rot. I am actually planning on getting them both redone next week.
  13. I 2nd this. My wife loves crappie, but I only ever catch them on accident.
  14. I use 30lb braid with a fluro leader. Occasionally I will get the loops you are referring, If I'm fishing it most of the day I will have it happen maybe once or twice. Usually a long cast takes care of it. I think using braid with the leader would help a lot. I have 1 spinning reel spooled up with straight fluro and I don't like it, as soon as it gets low on string, I'll be gladly switching it to braid and using a leader on it as well.
  15. Thats seems like a good solution. Oh btw, if you are still on the fence about the reels, tackle warehouse has a demo program for reels. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/demoprogram.html
  16. Interesting. I'll have to keep this in mind and try it some time.
  17. Nice. This is probably the most information I've ever gotten from a crappie fishermen. Usually they are more tight lipped than tournament bass anglers, at least where I fish.
  18. I think so. I don’t have any issues with the med heavy. I flip and pitch a senko most of the time, but on the rare occasion that I’m chunking it, I’ve never had a problem. I fish around a lot of grass year round, so I always go with a more stout backbone. Only rod I have that’s a medium action is for crankbaits.
  19. Do you think he ate the salad along with some fresh baked smallies?
  20. I love my St. Croix Mojo. I have the 7'1", Medium Heavy, Fast. I like the Medium heavy rod for my Senkos because I fish them around a lot of grass. As far as the reel, you can't go wrong with the Chronarch imo.
  21. You should check with Glenn and see if he can get you a free lifetime subscription to bassresource.com as a winners prize. ?
  22. Nice. LOL Spotting a rod in 16' of water. I have trouble even imagining water that clear. I couldn't even spot a bus in 16' of water around here.
  23. Depending on who ends up coming I very well may have room. I'll keep that in mind and get back you with when I have a date range planned. I was planning on staying at the cabins at Pickwick Landing state park. So I'd have access to Pickwick and the tailwaters.
  24. Swindle, Pipkens, Combs
  25. Haha, I understand. If i hadn't been in a no wake zone, this picture probably would have never been taken.
