How to put a value on a boat?
If I knew how to post pictures I would. It’s in excellent condition, well kept. Used very little, one owner.

I'm losing a lot of fish...any tips?
Underspins are on my buy list, are you guys throwing them on spinning or baitcasters?

what should I have done?
I’ve killed two that I know of this year. First one was on a pre rigged Storm WildEye swimbait. Really chunky 14” bass, felt bad of course. First cast of the day, I knew that dang lure would work! Worked too well I guess. Second was just a couple of weeks ago, similar to others on an unweighted wacky worm. It was my fault because it was pretty dark and obviously he chomped on it too long. Wasn’t big, maybe 12”. PS I guess there’s a chance the first one is still alive, I cut the line and let him go. Second guy is definitely in fish heaven.

How to put a value on a boat?
Thanks for all the replies. It's definitely not my dream boat but it's something smaller that I can fit in my garage. Be 100x better than fishing in my kayak. The wife could join me as well for some company. It's somewhat local (within 30 miles), not expensive, and seems like a good deal. When the kids are out of the house and I'm in a different house and can fit a bigger nicer boat I'll pull the trigger. This one just seems like a good one until that time comes.

How many jig/worm rods do you fish with?
I've been looking a bunch and am highly interested in the X-bites for lighter stuff. Much cheaper direct from Japan compared to say an NRX. Not sure what to get for heavier baits. Can only get one right now anyways.

How to put a value on a boat?
I'm looking to buy a boat sooner than later. A boat that's within 30 miles of me popped up on a FB sales group. How do you know if it's a good deal or not? Are there websites that can help with this? THANKS!

How many jig/worm rods do you fish with?
I live in Iowa. Mostly smaller lakes. Heck the one I've fished the most is less than 30 acres. Depths are less than 10 foot and mostly around submerged weeds. Another lake I fish is around 400 acres and has some standing timber that I really want to try out. Right now I'm fishing from a kayak but will hopefully get a boat in the next year or so. Normally I'm not fishing very deep as I don't have any electronics. Once I get a boat it will open up a whole new world.

First-Time Bass Boat for Fun Fishing and Tournaments
Mind if I piggyback this thread? Do most of you keep your boats in your garage? How deep does a garage have to be to store a boat? For example, if your boat is say a 18 ft boat, how much more do you need for the trailer?

How many jig/worm rods do you fish with?
Really have gotten into bass fishing this year and throwing a jig might be my favorite. I really only have one rod that I throw for jigs currently and it's the I believe original (deep purple blank) Mojo Bass Jig and Worm rod. It seems to get the job done but I'm ready for an upgrade in quality/sensitivity. So I started doing a little research and it seems many will use at least a couple setups based on the size of the jig/worm. If I had to guess, I'd say like a 3/8 oz jig and then throw on a trailer is my most used jig right now. But I'm just getting started so that will change I'm sure. So out of curiosity, how many jig/worm rods do you fish with? You can also add what models and why you fish those if you want. PS Seems like many say the NRX is the king for fishing jigs/worms with a heck of a warranty but also pricey. I'm not opposed to paying that much, if a cheaper rod can do the same thing I'm all ears. Thanks!

Thank you, Mike Iaconelli.
Thanks for the info. Trying to gain more knowledge, did he talk about WHY to fish shallow in August? Thanks again!

Fishing grass
Thanks for the reply. I think next time I go out I will throw a Texas rig slower on the bottom. If that doesn’t work start working up the water column.

Fishing grass
I should add, I was mostly hopping the swimjig close to the bottom. At least that's what I THINK I was doing. I basically casted out, let it sink to the bottom and then hop it back. I tried a few times to just swim it back but I don't believe I had any hits that way. Better lure to use?

Rod/reel submerged
I went out with my youngest who is 14 almost 15. He went into the water but couldn't see much. I then tried throwing the hooks out but it just collected a ton of weeds. There's just too many weeds right now. There's also the chance of him getting tangled in them which could create some danger. It happens! If it was actually one of my poles I would have spent more time trying to find it. When the weeds thin/die out I'll give it another try.

Fishing grass
Really brief history of my fishing. Grew up fishing rivers here in Iowa, mostly small. Either from the shore or wading. Smallmouth was my favorite by far (hence my username). Later on in life I had a crazy idea to buy a heavy baitcaster to frog fish and I fell in love with green bass. I've since bought a kayak and do the majority of fishing in it. Long story short, I don't have a ton of experience fishing largemouths in lakes, in a "boat". Anyways, I was fishing a small local lake (25 acres) last week, when I noticed a fairly large submerged weed bed. Looking at a map, the water is between 6-8 feet deep and the weeds have grown almost all of the way to the top. I figured this would be a great place for bass to hide during the day. So yesterday, late afternoon, I went off with a goal of fishing these weeds to catch some "big" bass( big meaning like 3 pounds). I thought a swim jig would be the perfect lure for this so I tied on a bluegill looking one matched up with a trailer. If I were a bass, it looked yummy. Great news, I had good success. I probably caught about 6 bass. The only problem was they were all like 12 inches long. The lake is definitely small but I know it holds much bigger. So I know this is a LONG story, but my question is: Where were the bigger ones? The edges? In the middle? More dense or less dense areas? Deeper? Maybe not even in the weeds? I know it's the million dollar question but I feel like with more knowledge I would be able to make an adjustment to find the bigger fish. I know this sounds newbish, but I was really proud of myself as I caught fish in this area for the first time ever, in a way I've hardly ever fished (swim jig). Any suggestions/advice is welcomed. Thanks!

Conquest MBR Tip snapped
No offense but you might need a refresher course on geometry. Specifically angles.

Rod/reel submerged
Interesting, I mean it's possible. I've watched some of his videos and I'm pretty sure he doesn't live too far from me based on where he fishes. I recognize many of them. I'll have to send him a message.

Rod/reel submerged
Appreciate the response. If it was MY combo I’d be 100x more invested than what I am currently. If I find it, it’s a bonus. If I don’t it’s no skin off my back. I was wondering about trying in the fall when the weeds get better. I’m not giving up yet!

Rod/reel submerged
Well dang it. No luck. Lots of submerged weeds. Not sure if I’m gonna get this boys.

Rod/reel submerged
I'm a decent swimmer but I've got two young strong boys that are like dolphins.

Rod/reel submerged
Yep I've got one and plan on bringing it. I've heard they work fairly well.

Rod/reel submerged
My oldest boy borrowed from a friend a largish magnet and a big claw like thing tied to a long rope. I don't think the magnet will work but the claw should hopefully.
