New jigs and Megalodon Spinnerbait additions
If I didn't just eat breakfast, I think I'd down that Blaze Craw right now. That thing is PRETTY!

Spinnerbaits!
I've said this before but I'm pretty green when it comes to green bass. Yes, pun intended. I grew up fishing for smallmouths on small Iowa rivers with my feet on the ground. Now I'm hooked on largemouths and mostly fishing out of a kayak. Yesterday I went out for a couple of hours after work and decided to try a spinnerbait. Holy cow, I loved it! Second cast, bam! Fish on. I caught at least 10 last night, some on a yum dinger as well. On one cast, a bass decided to take all of his anger out on it and just SLAMMED it. Can't recall a fish hitting that hard before. Unfortunately I never landed it. I was a little hesitant to throw an all white spinnerbait in a lake that doesn't have any type of shad in it. The number one forage would be bluegills/crappies. I didn't have any good trailer so I used a 10 year old bag of somewhat white Zoom Flukes that I had. LOL Anyways, I fell in love with spinnerbaits. I don't have very many so what are some good ones? Info on trailers? How about trailer hooks???? Lastly, even though white was working, would a different color be better in a lake where bluegills are the main food source? Any other tips/tricks/comments I'm all ears. THANK YOU! Gosh I love fishing.

To loosen drags or not?
I know this is an old thread but I just saw a youtube video last night where a guy was suggesting loosening your drags after every outing and definitely at the end of the season. I'm starting to get into some high end gear so I guess I'll start doing this. Knowing how my brain works (not well most of the time) I'm sure this will backfire on me. LOL

Bladed swim jig
That's actually the one I saw that got me thinking about them. Long story short, I'm not pulling the trigger on them as my wife isn't happy with my jerkbait order I placed last night.

What's Your Favorite Season for Catching Bass
I'd love to say spring (around the spawn) but as a tax accountant I have ZERO life from 1/1-4/15. I mean ZERO. With that being said, my favorite season is the fall. Fishing, hunting, and football. Doesn't get much better.

Bladed swim jig
Anyone throw a bladed swim jig around? I love throwing a swim jig and I was thinking about buying some underspins this week. Then I see they make basically a combination of both. Any luck with them?

Buying reels from Japan
Hmmm, not sure what you are doing exactly. I've bought twice and yes I get charged an extra fee. This last one just a few days ago was $23. How do you pay in YEN??

Fishing alone
When I was younger I used to fish with friends or by myself and it never really bothered me to fish alone. Now, many years later, I'm almost 48 and hate going alone. Sometimes I'll choose to stay home as it's hard for me to get out there by myself. The thing is, once I do go out, I have no problem being alone on the water and have fun. My oldest boy is now in college and my youngest is a freshman in high school and they aren't big into fishing. Although they normally have fun when they go. I'm normally in my kayak and my wife is willing to go sometimes with me but hates fishing out of a kayak. If I get a boat I think she would come a lot more. Fish a little and then read or something when bored. OK, mostly just read. Anyone else like this? I guess it's just nice to have someone share my experience with. Also a cameraman to take your pictures of your catches!

How would you have fished this?
If there were 1,000,000 baitfish swimming around, your lure made 1,000,001 choices. The only thing I can think of is change to a wild color so that ONE choice pops out and gets seen. Otherwise you just look like the rest of them. IDK, no expert.

The latest sale thread
I wonder why some companies charge sales tax and others don’t. Had a rod in ALF’s shopping cart ready to pull the trigger but they want almost $40 in sales tax. Omnia doesn’t charge me sales tax. Looks like I’ll call a different company and ask for a price match and save the $40.

Gotcha, thanks for your reply.

What do you mean “secret”? Is there a code or something needed? Thanks!

Current Favorite Finesse Spinning Rod - 7'3" ~ 7'6" ?
How are the handles on those? No cork options?

How does seaguar invizx compare to tatsu?
I’ve used both this year. The Tatsu got used for the first time last week on a swimbait combo. Had one backlash and I couldn’t even tell it was fluorocarbon. SO much better. d**n expensive though.

Why can't I catch a big bass?
Try living in a state like Iowa. Double digit? Ain't happening.

how much did you spend this year on going after mr lmb?
Not trying to hijack this thread but I figured I wanted to buy the most sensitive rod for jig/worm fishing. I don't need ultra sensitive for say crankbaits, topwaters, etc. But I was thinking I wanted to get a super sensitive jig/worm rod to feel the bottom/bites/etc. Seems like the "king" is NRX. I know they even make better but there's zero chance I'll go higher than that. If I can get something very similar for less I'm all ears.

Well when a rod like an NRX is $650 and then slap a $350 reel on it adds up pretty quick. Not sure exactly what I'm going to get but I'm sure the total package will be at least $750.

Do's and Do not's in tournament fishing?
Not a do or a don't but just have FUN. I'm 47 almost 48 and would have loved to do something like this at your age. Time gets away from you fast. Good luck!

Jerkbait reel
I have a new SHIMANO 24 SLX that I put on a Megabass Oneten special. Haven't thrown it yet but it feels pretty good in my hands. Probably break it out next week. Cooler weather is around the corner.

3" swimbait with underspin
I looked at this a little bit ago and how and the heck is a jighead and a blade $6.50-$7.50? It blows my mind how expensive fishing has gotten. I had these on my list as I see them mentioned. Do you know what size of hook to use?

Josh Jones 9 pound smallmouth
Pretty sure I stumbled upon this guy's youtube channel just last weekend. Seemed like all he was doing was using FFS so I stopped watching.

3" swimbait with underspin
Thought I should add to my arsenal. What's a good swimbait around the 3" mark and a good underspin to pair with it? Colors? There's pretty much three lakes I'm currently fishing. Two of them are pretty small and I'd have to guess the main forage would be panfish. The other would be panfish and shad. Thanks a bunch, I'm learning every day!
-
how much did you spend this year on going after mr lmb?
Well, $1,603 to Omnia that I just quickly added up. The majority of that was two rods and a reel. I'd say like $2k total (including the above) on other lures and a reel from other stores. I really want to get a top of the line jig rod so that's another thousand with a reel. Just need to figure out what brand/model. I'm normally pretty frugal with my money, but I do like my gear.

When to use hard swimbaits?
I'm just getting back into fishing and targeting green bass the most which is sorta new. On Saturday I threw a 6" S-Waver. Nothing even remotely interested but it sure was fun to throw around. I can't imagine the excitement of catching a fish on something like that.
