  1. I’ll check the rod. If it is the rod it’s going back to Falcon because it’s brand new as well
  2. Per Gary Dobyns from the Dobyns Facebook group “The Frenzy Series is a joint venture between Dick's Sporting Goods and Dobyns. Guys, when a retailer has almost 800 locations, they're simply a big deal. The buyers at Dick's that I work with are really good guys that I've known for years. They asked about a joint venture and the Frenzy Series was created. They chose the models that they feel the best about to start and I made them. They're starting with 6 models but there are already another 5 that are made/approved that can be added quickly to the line-up. The rods are 100% graphite, feature a full cork handle, and rigged with Sea Guide guides. Yes, as with all my rods, the balance is key. They are very clean, good-looking rods and, honestly, a steal at $79.99.”
  3. Lews Mach 1 MH/F 6’10/Concept A 6.6 Falcon Bucoo 7’ Mansfield/OG Concept TX 7.3 (2) Falcon Bucoo 7’ Trapcaster/Concept KP 6.6 and Shimano SLX XT 8.2 Falcon Lowrider 7’ Dragger/Concept C 7.3 Dobyns Sierra 735/Concept A 8.1 Falcon Cara 7’4 Heavy Cover Jig/Tatula Elite 8.1 Falcon Lowrider 7’6 Cranker II/Lews BB1 Pro 6.2 I plan to add some more. Dobyns DX743 and Falcon Cara Amistad are next on the list. I started exploring the $200+ bass rods a few months ago, and unfortunately I see no sign of slowing down. 😬 Really wanna try a Kistler Helium (I live about an hour from them). I just haven’t heard the best things about their customer service. A rod is worthless to me if the manufacturer isn’t going to back it up when something goes wrong. I know that Falcon and Dobyns will.
  4. Take this for what it’s worth I’ve been using 13 Fishing Concept reels since 2016. A’s, C’s, Z’s, TX, etc.. They were all great up until the last few years or so. I sold that POS Concept Z and a C that stripped the main drive gear. I never liked the Z from day one. The TX and my two A’s are still good, but the TX is starting to slow down and get a bit tired. I’m not mad though, I’ve used the absolute hell out of that reel from inshore trout and redfish to bass fishing. A fresh set of Boca bearings would probably wake it back up. With all that said, I’d personally never buy a 13 Fishing reel again. Shimano, Daiwa, and Lews is all I will buy from here on out. This is especially true since Rapala bought out 13. The customer service is complete ass now and you can’t get parts for their reels (why I sold half of mine). I saw that $99 deal and was tempted at first but then bypassed it. If you think it’s worth it, go for it. The newer 13 reels might be really great. I just wouldn’t bother from personal experience. Use that $99 and get a Shimano SLX or Lews Speed Spool LFS. Just my 2cents
  5. I’ll give this a go. I tie an improved cinch knot for just about everything Might give Sunline Sniper a try too. I put Seaguar Red Label on my 5XD/6XD cranking setup and that stuff got all frayed up down by the bait in no time. I’m done with Seaguar for now. I thought this stuff was supposed to be the most abrasion resistant. I’ve got to admit that am I not seeing any advantages to a $22 spool of 150yd fluro vs a $10 spool of 1000yd mono. It seems like it’s more of a hassle than anything
  6. 1- Ordered from TW around mid-January; spooled up reel with it earlier this week. 2- 15lb test 3- Quite a few. Spent the better part of the day pitching/flipping boat docks
  7. Came from tackle warehouse. I kept inside in a closet until I got ready to spool it up on a reel.
  8. I was wrong. Got it out on the water today for its first real excursion on Lake Conroe. MAN that thing is sweet. Could feel about anything on the bottom. It was so-so when I tried it out at first at a local pond. Once I got out there to really use it, everything changed. The Lizard Dragger I got yesterday, not a big fan so far. I’ll see if Falcon will let me trade it toward another rod. If not, probably just sell it. There’s no way that thing is a heavy/fast. Would probably be a good spinnerbait/bladed jig rod, as mentioned above. I can see that!
  9. I don’t know what it is, seems like any time I try to spool up with some nice higher end line, that junk breaks and causes problems. I spool this rig up with Seaguar Invizix for the first time because I hear the rant and rave about it for bottom contact stuff. Threw a 3/8oz jig on it today. Sure enough, that chit broke off mid air and absolutely blew up my reel. No it didn’t come untied, I trolled up to the bank and retrieved my jig. Line was still tied on it. Did I get a bad spool or what? Any time I’ve tried fluorocarbon, that stuff always fails me.
  10. Yeah I know they will for warranty replacement. Wasn’t sure if they’d just let you trade a non-broken rod in. I’ll give them a call Monday and see
  11. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I got it home and rigged up a jig on it and can tell it’s a bit more moderate for sure. Do any of y’all have any idea what Falcon’s policy is on trading in a rod to upgrade? I know Dobyns has a system when you can trade your rod with cash on top to upgrade. If Falcon has something similar to that I wouldn’t mind trading in for an Expert or Cara
  12. I just scored a brand new Lowrider Lizard Dragger for $49.99 at Academy along with a mountain of baits What do y’all like the Lizard Dragger for? I’m not sure what happened there
  13. Okay, so it isn’t just me. And yeah, it’s a very nice rod otherwise and I plan to keep it. I noticed this same thing in store with the Lowrider HCJ. I ordered the Cara expecting that tip-heavy feel to go away but it’s the same. I will say.. I ordered a Dobyns SA735 at the same time I got the Cara. The Dobyns is noticeably better balanced. I’ll probably get used to it. I have a lot of time off work coming up that will be committed to fishing so I’ll be able to really put it through the paces. I only got to throw it around at a pond a little bit after I got it.
  14. I recently got my first Cara, the Heavy Cover Jig. Got it for Texas rigs/jigs from 1/4oz to 3/8oz I'm just curious if anyone with this rod thinks that it's a bit tip-heavy and not that well-balanced. I have a Daiwa Tatula Elite on it. Haven't got to use it a whole lot yet, but I feel like I have to "work" harder than I should to keep the rod tip up (if that makes any sense). This is even with no bait tied on Could just be me, but I expected the Cara to be nice and balanced.
  15. Was just about to suggest the Dobyns SA735, but looks like you done went and got the step up! Nice pick
  16. I'm a recent Daiwa fan. I never wanted to give them a chance because they just didn't feel that great at Bass Pro. Until I found a sale on the Tatula Elite... I'm convinced now that any future baitcaster purchases will likely be Daiwa. I was wrong all along
  17. I’m the same way, I like a variety. I have 13 Fishing, Shimano, Lews, and Daiwa. I’ll lean Shimano or Daiwa but if Lews has a nice reel on sale I’ll snag it. Never have had an issue with them. I bought most of my 13 Concepts about 9-10 years ago. They’ve been super solid up until recently.
  18. For an extra $20 you can get the Tatula Elite for $165 on Amazon. Don’t even waste time or money on the CT, especially for an extra $20
  19. Dobyns Sierra 734 Falcon Lowrider Bladed Jig Save your money for the bottom contact stuff. No need for some super high end rod to pull a bladed jig through the water
  20. Ah okay. Didn’t know TW even had used gear
  21. Would have to politely disagree on the comment about stepping up to the KD714. I bought that rod for 1/4oz texas rigs and it was a broomstick to me. I returned it on the way home from the lake. If the OP wants a Kaden, I'd still stick with the 713 personally. It's all personal preference though. The Kadens are simply faster rods than the other models. I'd also recommend a Sierra 734. I like them more than the Kaden personally.
  22. I recently ordered a Daiwa Tatula Elite from Amazon. $165 vs the $249 retail. No problems at all, and that reel is SWEET. Never have ordered a rod on there though, because most of the rods I'm interested in are the same price from the manufacture or TW. Would rather just order there.
  23. Where?? Not seeing it, only seeing $199.99 And to the OP, Falcon and Dobyns. No need to look elsewhere. All of the Falcons from the Bucoo series and up are fantastic. I have the Bucoo, Lowrider, and Cara. Lowrider is the best bang for the buck there is. May add an Expert if the guy I'm replying to can lead me to that supposed sale For Dobyns, stick with the Sierra and up. American Legacy Fishing has all Dobyns rods for 25% off right now with DOBYNS25 code. I'd hit that up for sure. The Fury series is mediocre at best. At the same $129.99 price point, I'd opt for the Falcon Lowrider 24/7/365.
  24. I had two Curado CU200's I bought off my buddy as my first "quality reels". Sold them in no time and went on to the more modern low profile reels. I'm in my 20's, and I have no clue in the world how y'all older folks used to bass fish all day with those Ambassadors and big Curados. I know they're bulletproof but I just can't see them being practical
  25. Braid is my favorite line to use, although I have mono and fluorocarbon on a few specific setups. It just casts a lot better and overall feels a lot better to me. The no memory and no stretch is absolutely the winner with braid. Cuts no problem with a knife or even toe nail clippers. Get you a pair of fishing pliers with line cutters built in I like Fins Windtamer the most. Sufix 832 is also a good option
