What brand and strength fluoro do you use for a leader on your finesse/Ned rig setup?
20lb Sufix 832 to 16lb Sunline Sniper on my wacky rig/senko rod. Works great

Falcon Cara / Expert Durability
I've been meaning to grab a Cara Amistad, I just haven't since I've had to push fishing on the back burner for the past bit. Sounds like there's no better time than now. I bet they are about to drop a new Cara, because most of them are out of stock on their website. Same thing happened to the Expert when they changed it.

Falcon Cara / Expert Durability
Wonder if they’re gonna do a redesign like they did on the expert

Falcon Cara / Expert Durability
Not opposed to that. I’d rather it be Korea than China personally. The Expert I have is Korea

So I bought a Zillion SV TW...
Believe it or not I agree with this. I was fishing the first gen Concept reels exclusively for almost 9 years. Recently sold most of them and moved over to Daiwa. No regrets, I really love my Daiwas... But those Concept reels are still the nicest palming reels I've owned. Most of them just started to break and were slowing down so I got rid of them. Only two I still have are the original TX and an A. The Zillion SV TW is next on my list. I've had to lay back on fishing quite a bit recently so I haven't made that purchase yet.

Falcon Cara / Expert Durability
I have Cara and Expert. Haven’t had the Expert long enough to give you an answer, but I’ll tell you… that Cara is a freakin tank. Wish I could post a video on here as I caught this incident on film; On one of it’s first trips out on Caddo Lake, I had it sitting in a rod holder on my boat sticking straight up (I run a center console/bass boat hybrid type boat so most of my rods sit in rocket launchers.) Long story short, I trolled right through a very low hanging tree without thinking about it. That Cara made it through and still fishes today, but my dad lost the tip to of one of his old beater sticks. It was a hell of an impact, I’m surprised it made it! That sold me… lol Falcon made the Cara a nice fishing stick, but they also made it super durable. You can notice that just by holding one. Also, with the Cara only being $10 than the new Expert on most models, I'd just go with a Cara.

Jig rod
Or, save the $100 and get a more sensitive/better built Falcon Cara Heavy Cover Jig that still has American customer service up in Oklahoma. 😉 That rod is pretty equivalent to the 744

Looking weightless worm rod suggestions
I got the Falcon Expert Finesse Jig for my weightless senkos. It’s a 7ft M/F. That rod is unbelievably sensitive and I love it!

Do You Retire Lures?
Yep, I have retired one crankbait. An H20 Xpress sexy citrus shad squarebill that I caught my current PB and first DD on (10.5lbs) It's currently hanging on my wall from a thumbtack

Vintage lures you remember in your dad's tacklebox...
My dad is 65 and some of y'all would probably love to see what he has in his box and still uses. A lot of his stuff was his dad's tackle. I've got half of Bass Pro at his disposal in the box on my boat and he still uses the old stuff out of his box.... AND still outfishes me to top it all off 😁 The first one that comes to mind is what he calls "them old Creme worms". I don't know what they were actually called, but they're usually a very dark purple, dark red, or motor oil color. He also likes using "them ol George's".... And of course a jitterbug. I guess I'll also mention H&H spinnerbaits, but you can still buy those pretty much anywhere.

Beetle Spins
Gotta love how the price goes up and the quality goes down. They were like 50 cents and you'd never have to replace them... Just put a new plastic piece on after 100 fish and keep trucking.

Thinking of revisiting the trick worm?
Zoom or nothing Interesting story I'll keep short: I was fishing Walter E Long lake down here in Texas back in September of last year. I was struggling big time.. couldn't get them to hit jack. The bite was just really slow. Decided to try something out of the ordinary, so I changed my Texas rig plastic to a bubblegum (pink) Zoom trick worm. Not even three casts later, put a 6.5 in the boat. Then I finally started catching a few here and there. Never thought those bright pink worms would be something I'd rely on... lol

Hello from Italy – Question About Using Braid Directly for Texas Rig and Finesse
When I was staying up on Lake Fork for a week back in March, the guy in the hotel next to me was from Italy. He was here fishing with a guide for the week and showed me an 11 pounder he caught. I didn't know Italy had a bass fishing scene. Pretty cool! To answer your question, straight braid is no problem. That's what I was doing until I fell for the flurocarbon gimmick. When the spool I have on my Texas rig rod wears out, it's back to straight 30# braid for me.

Rod Recommendation
Falcon Expert. My first nice spinning rod and it’s freakin awesome

Vanford FA vs Stradic FM?
When I was looking for a spinning reel I had several people suggest the JDM Stradic from Digitaka. You might give that one a look. I went with a Daiwa Kage, just because I found it on sale locally and I liked it. I used my friend's Vanford prior to me making the spinning investment and it was nice!

Spinning combo - line setup
I recently got my first nice spinning setup. You won't regret it... I don't know what I've been doing all these years without a good spinning rod on the boat. I did Sufix 832 20# to 15# flurocarbon. Working great so far!

$100-150 Rod Options
Falcon Lowrider, easy. Or a Bucoo if it's a moving bait and you want to save a few dollars. I'd also suggest the Dobyns Sierra or Kaden series IF you catch them on a good sale. You can find the Kaden for like $110ish sometimes if you keep your eyes out.

Why is Shimano allergic to Limited Edition reels with color?
Fishing 13 Fishing reels for 9 years has taught me to not fall for that fancy looking stuff. It's all marketing. I don't know if y'all noticed this; When 13 Fishing came out with the cool color reels, all other brands except Shimano and Daiwa followed suit. There's a reason for that... The Japanese care about functionality rather than having a flashy reel. I will admit though, I didn't know Daiwa had those limited edition reels like that.

Slx dc 150 sound
I'm willing to bet the OP ended up with a non DC reel. You should be able to hear no matter what

The Falcon rods thread
Learn something new every day. I never noticed that either. I guess if I ever want to get a dedicated crappie rod I'll have to keep that in mind.

The Falcon rods thread
Nice write up! Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'm a novice to the BFS stuff so it's interesting to read about it. I have a BFS reel that a buddy gave me to but I've never even used it. Haven't tried BFS fishing. Maybe I should, but I just can't see the reason for it personally.

Daiwa Tatula CT?
Never have ordered from there. I’m guessing it’s legit? If that’s the case then yeah I’ll just get another 24 100
-
Daiwa Tatula CT?
I’ll give it a look. The 100 I have is the 2024 version. You can get them from Digitaka for $147 right now. That’s what the initial plan was until I saw that CT for $99
-
Daiwa Tatula CT?
Curious what y’all think of this reel. I sold my Concept A on my spinnerbait rod to replace it with a Daiwa. Thinking about going with the CT. I have an Elite and a 100 that I love. Found the CT on sale for $99 so thinking of going that route.
