Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
seriously folks, I'm the one who ultimately gets screwed if the pass fails. At this point I choose to take Junior at his word until he proves otherwise. That being said I do not intend to tolerate any more posts about his character or his mother. Let it be...for now.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Alright alright let's keep it christian guys. We'll let junior ship it out and all will be forgiven. I've been sick myself and away from the the office or I might have called to check on it. Sounds like this thing's getting back on track. Just send us the tracking update junior.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Hey guys. Just got this from Junior. Hopefully this will settle any fears around here: Clark, the package was sent. I just arrived home from a fishing trip at stonewall jackson lake. The package was sitting in my house. It had return to sender on the box. The package was crushed, it looks like someone ran it over halfway. Nothing was broke or missing that I could tell. It will resend immediately, Tommorow morning. (thursday). Im not one to scam anyone. I have 3500+ ebay feedback. I've done forum deals plenty of times on other sites. Im at work now and have school tonight. Can you please screen shot this and let the other guys know what's up.. I don't want anyone on this site to be upset at me. Again my takes/puts are the same. I will get the tracking updated n post it sometime tommorow. Again I am extremely sorry and feel really bad... Please let everyone know.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Yeah a ton of people voiced interest in this some months back when I brought it up, but I limited it to the first 10 to keep it simple. A lot of naysayers too but they've since gotten pretty quiet since this thing's been rocking along without a hitch (knock on wood). I applaud Jeff C. for volunteering to do round 2. I would recommend that one of the original guys would take up the torch as by now they understand fully how it works and what to look out for.

Handheld GPS and lake maps - possible?
If you can find the old mapsource hotmaps by garmin then you can load most of the bigger lakes on your unit. It's discontinued so you'll have to use clandestine means to find it online. There's also a thread on gooogle somewhere that talks about making your own maps for garmin units. It's a complex little program but when it's done it will overlay your custom map over whatever map you have brought up at the time. Pretty cool. I used to have a topo map down to the water then contour map of the lake i fish. Once you find that article and create your map you can use something like expert gps to draw roadbeds on your contour map that will show up like tracks in your gps. Makes it easy to follow them. Do a search for "how to create your own maps for garmin gps". Look for garmin's hotmaps

Cool fishing shirts
If you have an academy sports close by then by some of their Magellan brand fishing shirts. They're nylon and come in long and short sleeve with 30SPF sunblock built in I believe. That's what I always wear and a lot of times they're on sale for like 15 bucks for short sleeved. I can't tell much difference in quality between it and the columbia brand that is twice as much.

Fishing with beaver lures
I know that iaconnelli (however you spell it) is known to take a powerbait beast in a sunfish kinda color and rig it on a ball head jig so that the hook comes out the thin side of the beaver. Makes it swim parallel to the hook and has a profile like a small bluegill swimbait of sorts - never tried it myself

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Jeff, I think you have to take that notice to the post office to get the box from them, or call some number and request a redelivery. Just run the tracking number and the instructions are below it.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Glad to hear that you liked what you got Swilly! Also thanks for letting us know you might have a problem with getting the package in and out on time, and moreso for doing it quickly. I'm sure I speak for everyone else involved that we really appreciate you and Donbeatya for the hustle!

What's Your Favorite Type of Strike?
Of course I love the toilet bow flush of a big bass hitting my rage shad on top but my favorite is definitely when I'm burning a crankbait through a school of bass and I feel the hard "thud" when the bass hits my lure. The thud is so hard you can tell which direction the bass was coming from and then the feel of dead weight as almost like you're dragging a tree limb back before it starts fighting for real. I love that split second when the wobble is replaced with the feeling that your lure found a black hole or worm hole or some other type of star trekie hole!

nite fishing with baitcasters?
like everybody says a lot of it comes down to feel. For me I can watch my spool and it will give me a hint: When I sling a bait with a 2 hand cast - (I have a hard time casting with any accuracy one-handed unless it's a pistol grip rod) the line will sling off the spool and right before it hits the water for some reason it will usually bunch up like it's about to birdnest and then straighten itself back out. When it straightens out it's about a foot from the water and I stop the spool. Aside from that just dial it down enough that when it hits water it won't backlash much and keep your thumb on the spool the whole time. I also cast at night and keep my thumb close to the spool to feel the line bunch up and tap my thumb. When the line quits doing that it means that it's straightened itself back out and I press down on the spool. Maybe somebody else's rigs do this so they can demonstrate better than me!

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Looks like it. Swilly will have about 10-13 days to do his puts/takes and ship it back out. I think he's got plenty of time. I figure it will get there around friday or saturday. Props to Don for throwing the fastball.

Anyone got any of those "strike king" 3x worm's
You can't find 'em anymore? Ebay has em all the time and our local Academy has both the 3x line and the elaztech brand (same thing) I used to have a lot of them but I put them in the lure pass!

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
As far as taking an inventory that's up to ya'll. I know what I put so I'm good - ya'll add to this thing in any way that makes it fun for ya'll - some passes I've seen people put a patch or sticker of their favorite product or a pic of themselves with their favorite bait or whatever. Go nuts! As to the last post this was my reason for the pass. I know what I like but it's hard to shell out the money to try a bait I have no confidence in. So I start this pass with my favorite lures and when it comes back there will probably be some stuff I've never tried before! We're off to a good start.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
We'll play it by ear for now. It's on its way to Texas to Donbeatya and depending on how long he has it we may have to make adjustments. I'll look at the map and see what I need to do if the issue arises. Thanks so much for posting and the pm to me! Communication is key with these things, and you set a good example! To be safe Jeff C. you may want to go ahead and get your puts ready. If we do it that way you and swilly would just swap places due to your proximity. Also Don - can you take a quick and dirty inventory for everybody? I should have done it myself when I sent it out. It just helps everybody decide what their puts are gonna be - speeds things along. Good choices - Sammy! Good variety of puts as well. Have fun Don!

Wal Mart close outs...falling prices
Quantum has always been my favorite brand. I love the rods and the reels. Still throw my old 1310 reel (ugliest reel ever) nearly everyday!

Reservoir Tackle Help
Here's how I approach a situation like this - when you say reservoir everybody will think you're fishing from a boat in 20-30 feet of water (at least I do). Since that's not the case and I assume you wouldn't be asking about shore fishing if you had access to a boat I would fish your bank like a pond bank. Look for the most likely cover you can find. Reservoirs are full of ledges and if you can cast to one then great but I doubt you'll reach one from shore. Look for laydowns and brush/weeds. Call the reservoir's dam and find out when they're gonna be pulling water. You'll definitely notice a difference in the bite when the water is pulling. That being said there really is no wrong bait to throw. Start with your favorite water covering lure (for me it's a buzzbait or crankbait) then slow down in that area with a big 10 inch worm in the summertime and senkos in winter fished weightless. Hope this helps

Yum Money Minnow help
I used an eagle claw hook (only one I could find at academy for some reason) 6/0 with a keel weight and one of those little sticker barbs that pushes into the nose of the bait. It did just as you described. It tracked straight but did wobble side to side a little. Guess I had it right.

Yum Money Minnow help
Bought a pack of money minnows the other day and finally tied on one this afternoon. I used an eagle claw keel weighted 6/0 hook with the nose keeper sticker. When I fished this thing I noticed that it seemed to list from side to side in the wobble much like the side to side lean or wobble of a crankbait. Was it rigged wrong or is this part of the action. I thought that the body stayed still while the tail did all the wiggling. Any help or tips for this bait would be appreciated - especially about rigging.
