I thought every bass in Cali weighed at least 8 pounds at birth

More Mapping
Exactly! I'm learning it right now. I'd love love love to see a post where somebody (ahem Paul) has taken those images and labeled what we're looking at.

buzz bait bite!!
all good advice - the buzzbait is my favorite search lure. It tells me 1) where the fish are; 2) how aggressive they are; and 3) what they're keying on - reaction strike (loud clacking buzz, small gurgle buzz) Also, as aforementioned, it will tell you pretty accurately what other type of bait they want as many times I will get several blow ups where a trailer hook wouldn't have mattered (2 feet to the side of the lure) and upon throwing the plastic behind it I'll either get bit every time on a senko and never on a creature bait vice versa. AND that tells you what type of action to look for - slow falling lures like a weightless senko or fast dropping lures like a weighted brush hog. Funny thing about bass fishing is you can be as good or lazy a detective as you want to be and both will be right!

What are they eating II ?
I was just thinking about this problem today. I've got the worst habit of spending more time (more so in the boat) tying on different lures than really fishing what I tied on. My biggest fear is wasting what little time I have on the water so I am constantly trying to throw everything in the box. A lot of times I'll catch a bass on a worm and then think "man he killed that worm! I bet he'd slaughter a spinnerbait (insert your lures here) and then I'm tying on a different bait and not getting bit. I've got to really settle down when I catch a fish. It doesn't help to read the day on the lake series and see the angler throw a crankbait from 7:30 to 7:41 then change to a jig and craw from 7:42 - 8:00 then on to something else then back again. Perfect example was yesterday when I finally caught a bass in this city pond that connects by aqueduct to the river 300 yards away. A bunch of bream and carp and I only fish it on lunch breaks because it's 5 min from the office. I caught a bass on a buzzbait off some rip rap by the bank and then start immediately looking across the pond at all the brush thinking "I bet a jig and craw would pull a big 'un out of there" so off I go. Needless to say instead of saturating the water with a buzzbait I waste the rest of my break fishing unproductive patterns in unproductive water. I'd like to hear some of the "old heads" tell us how to improve our game in this department. Like when do you give up on a lure - or how much time do you give an unproductive bait during a tournament.

Allright Sammy! The eagle has left the nest, over. I'll pm you with the confirmation number and all that jazz in a second. Hope this goes well. I have faith in our members and believe that this will do nothing more than strengthen the bond that this site creates amongst us anglers - d**n I should go into politics!

Anybody ever try the H2o (academy) hollow bodied frogs?
I bought one of these yesterday after staring at the spro frogs for 7-8 right beside these for 3-4. The quality of this thing seems amazing. I love the color pattern (watermelon/red pearl belly). I've heard of people trimming the legs on the spro frogs. What's the benefit? How do ya'll like to fish these?

About to try my hand at swimbait fishing
I went to Academy yesterday and picked up a pack of 5 inch yum money minnows and a pack of 5 inch big bite baits super shads, a pack of eagle claw swimbait hooks in 6/0 and a pack of H&H flutter hooks swimbait hooks. Now - what do I need to know about fishing these things? Tackle, favorite techniques - best places etc. Blame it on the swimbait video recently posted. I'm supremely impressed with the quality of both company's swimbaits. I picked up the bluegill pattern in the big bite and the foxy shad pattern in the money minnow - my favorite pond has zero shad and a ton of bluegill. Any insight into these things would help. If I get hooked on these things I imagine i'll be buying the jawjacks from brent from now on

What´s wrong in here ?
Hehe, you'd crap yourself with one trip to Alabama. That looks like a typical day on any lake around here. And no we don't sleep with our sisters - everybody knows that cousins don't kiss and tell!

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
You can skip the delivery confirmation if you insure it... they have to track it for the insurance. Although you won't get the email that it's been delivered, everyone along the way saves $2 on the shipping. And if it does get lost, you'll get confirmation from the next guy on the list that it wasn't delivered. You're right - I insured it for 75bucks - that's probably more than it's worth but still cheap to insure

Rage Shad trouble
Man if you could post a pic of your rig we'd could probably help you out. My favorite hook for this thing is the owner twistlock - you don't need a keel weight in my opinion - but it doesn't hurt either. The bait naturally lays on it's side and it's dense enough to be able to cast a long way. I put the hook through the nose (5/0) and then back through the little trough on the back all the way back at the tail - then texposed. You have to make sure that the hook lays flat on it's back and that the shad is straight. I don't want to come across like you don't know how to rig your plastics but my rule of thumb is the be able to hold the bait and it look just as it did before I introduced a hook - my late grandfather taught me that and it's always proved helpful. Hope this helps.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Ok, First off to save RoadWarrior the hassle This pass is in no way affiliated with BassResource.com, and as such BassResource will not insure, mediate, or otherwise be involved in this endeavor. Any questions/complaints must be taken up/settled with the owner of this pass: clarkvstewart. Now, For those 10 of you who made the cut: Sammy Lee Donbeatya Swilly 78 Jeff C Junior Fisher JJ08 wagn Bassin_0502 Fat-G broncoboxer Stasher 1 The pass is almost boxed up and ready to head out. If you'll look at the map I sent via PM you'll see that SammyLee is first in line due to his proximity to me. The order above is the order it will ship in. We agreed earlier that the medium flat rate priority mail box would be the best one to use for all this bait - 6 pounds of it! That being said with shipping and 75.00 insurance the total comes to roughly $12.10 to ship this thing around. Everyone I talked to agreed to the price of $10.35 so, IF ANYBODY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS THEN PM ME NOW SO THAT I CAN (A) FIND SOMEBODY TO FILL YOUR SPOT OR ( START THIS THING WITH 9 PLAYERS. NO HARM NO FOUL. NO HARD FEELINGS. I don't make the shipping prices up. Blame the post office The rules are as follows: 1) Once you receive the box take what you like as much as you like. Replace it with equal or greater value lures. They don't have to be the same type of lure. For example you could replace a spinnerbait with a crankbait if the value is the same. Or you could take a spinnerbait and replace it with a buzzbait or another spinner bait - your choice. Remember your next comrade in mind - we want a variety to reach the next guy - not a box full of senkos so take accordingly. Dont' agonize over it though. 2) You have 3-4 days to make your takes/puts and ship the thing back out. This keeps the next guy in line from losing his mind waiting for the box. Plus it gives me a ballpark for when to expect this 6 pound boomerang to come back around. 3)If you are planning on not being around when this thing is most likely to arrive then PLEASE ALERT EVERYONE IN THIS PASS!!!! THIS IS THE BIGGIE RULE. THE GOLDEN RULE!!! Communication is key for this work smoothly. In the event you won't be around (vacation, family emergency, business travel) let us all know - especially me so I can give instructions to the guy shipping to you to re-route the box! Let me know when you'll be available again. If possible I'll put you back in the rotation as close to original so the box doesn't have far to backtrack. 4) Be courteous to the others in the pass. If somebody re-used the box and it looks like a bomb hit it then please get a new box from the post office. For those of you who don't know the box is free there - the postage pays for it. If you put a spinnerbait or crankbait in then make sure the hooks can't poke through the box in transit. Place them in a safe bag or something. 5) Let everybody know via this post what your puts/takes are. This is important for a couple reasons. 1) If there be a slug among us then this aids us all in figuring out who took the bag of rage tails and put a bag of creme worms back in! 2) It lets all of us know what to expect when we get the box. You don't have to take inventory - just your puts/takes. 3) It's more like dirty santa this way - you know what you have your eye on and you get to anticipate its arrival! 6) Please take care of the rest of us and get delivery confirmation and insurance for the box. This protects us if it gets lost/stolen in the mail - and most importantly your reputation! Reputation is all any of us have on this forum. 7) Enclosed in the box you will find some labels already filled out in the order of the pass along with a copy of these rules. Don't assume that the label on the bag of lures is what is inside!!! I'm the world's worst about taking lures out of the original package so just because it says rage tail don't think that's what's inside. Also the count doesn't matter either. You don't have to take a whole bag of anything - you can take 4 senkos and put back 4 of some other soft bait if you want. Go nuts. There's also several empty bags for you to use how you wish and one BPS plastic bag for you to place something personal to someobdy else in. If you want me to get something (not asking anybody to feel obligated) then put it in the bag with my name on the outside so it's left alone. That goes for anybody you want to especially hook up! Do your puts/takes then take the next label in line and reseal the box and ship it to that label. 8) Let me and the rest of us know via this thread 1) when you got the box, 2) what shape it was in, 3) what your puts/takes were 4) when you shipped it off and 5) to whom you shipped it to. Also PM me so i can keep this thing better organized. 9) COMMUNICATION IS KEY! PM ME WITH ALL QUESTIONS/COMMENTS 10) COMMUNICATION IS KEY!!!!!!!!!! Ya'll have fun with this thing. My goal in hosting this was 1) to get to know some of my brethren better and 2) to get a new box of lures. Almost all the baits that have become my favorites were handed to be by somebody else to try out. Be creative! If you want everybody to try out this custom bait that kills em in your nick of the woods then throw it in. Don't be afraid to throw in whatever other little trinkets you'd like to share - decals, terminal tackle - anything is game that makes this special for you. Remember that weight of this package is not a factor. This thing will cost 12 bucks to ship if it weighed 1 pound or 40. If it will fit in the box then stuff it in. Just remember to leave a little room for others to stuff junk in. Now i'm gonna go put my handS on ice, and I apologize for this GIGANTIC POST!!! That's it guys! I hope this goes well. I'm confident in your character and remember integrity is what you do when you know nobody else is watching!

Finally got hold of some rage tail lobsters
Would you walk down to the corner when the Bunny Ranch is 50 miles away?

DD22 in a farm pond?
Ya'll ever fish a deeeeep diver like this in say 10-15 feet of water in a smaller pond - the one I fish is 4 acres and I'm told 15 feet in the deepest corner. It's covered in slime on the bottom which would normally force me to throw tiny cranks - which i need to try more often. I just thought the dd22 might produce. I have a theory that the longer bill will keep it from dragging up too much of the slimy stuff. Thoughts? comments?

Weird looking jig
Therein lies the problem - this thing doesn't have an eye! I'm not sure how to do it - maybe it's supposed to replace a carolina-rig weight?

soft plastic worms
Welcome aboard! In the future this type of thing might oughta be searched for as it's liable to start a 10 page thread on likes/dislikes and you should have searched speeches. That being said we were all newbie's once so here are mine: Zoom anything - cheap plastics that catch fish anywhere you throw em. For deep water summer time fishing the zoom ole monster's are great. Brush hogs are another favorite zoom product. Netbait is another cheapie but goodie - great quality bait. Then Rage tail anaconda's - little pricier but the action is deadly Finally and probably should have been higher up on the list is allluring baits - google it. The owner is awesome and his baits kick butt. Plus tell them you're a member here in the comments at checkout for a free gift! Have fun

Weird looking jig
http://s743.photobucket.com/albums/xx72/clarkvstewart/Weird%20Jig/?albumview=slideshow It's a 3/4oz jig with a strange-shaped head. It looks like a bullet sinker with a metal tube protruding from the bottom. It has a weed guard molded in, but what's so weird is that it has a hole through it like a bullet weight that goes all the way out the bottom. How would you rig this thing? Looks like it was designed to come through weeds easily.

Finally got hold of some rage tail lobsters
Got word that Rage Tail Lobsters are now at BPS so this Saturday I drug the wife and baby the 60 miles to my "local" BPS. Bought a pack and some other stuff - like the new? zoom magnum trick worms (looks like a stretched senko) haven't tried either out yet, but the lobster looks killer. I've been bitten on the craws with some regularity so this ought to be great. P.S. If the rooster or eeliminator don't land in my life soon I'm gonna start looking for a razor blade and pretty stationary for the suicide note!

How Ticked off do you get?
I posted about this very thing the other day on somebody's "one that got away thread or something" Long story short I caught an 8-9 pound hog at a golf course and couldn't reach her for the cart bridge I was on so like an idiot I raised her out of the water and snap she was gone. I threw my rod down on the bridge and shouted my obscenities. Sad thing was I was about 10 steps from the bank where I could have easily reached her. Idiot.

Tackle Brands YOU Trust
I agree totally with your list except for gycb and lucky craft - only because 1) gycb is great but ***, big bite, and others do as well for me for a lot cheaper; 2) lucky craft simply because I haven't mustered up the courage to spend 15-20 bucks on something i'm likely to snag up and lose. That's just me but I'll agree that they look awesome and their reputation precedes them. As for rage tails - do a search and my name may pop up more than the bait itself!
