  1. Danceswithbass- I'm actually in a club on Douglas Lake that Fishes on Saturday nights, I'm not sure if they're accepting members right at the moment but it would be worth a try. I also know that this one isn't the only one on Douglas, I'd say if you dropped by the ramp on Friday and Saturday night you could find a couple of small clubs. Our season starts in March and continues through Spetember and there is a classic at the end of the year.
  2. Thanks Senile I'll make sure to Tivo a couple of them while I'm at work tomorrow! ;D
  3. What time does this show come on? I'd love to catch it one day.
  4. Details Man, Details! Awesome smallies!
  5. I finally got back onto the water after what felt like forever...(a week) and had a pretty decent day. Air temp was about 57 or so water temp high 40's I guess. I caught two smallies that we're 17 3/4 and 16 1/2 on a crankbait, neither of these were keepers but they put up an awesome fight anyway. I tried a shaky head on some deep brushpiles but I just couldn't feel like I thought I should. Does anyone have some tips for a novice shaky head fisherman? Keep on Fishing! ;D
  6. Mine would definitely be a Zoom Baby Brush Hog in Black Emerald. T-rig. 2nd, homemade jig, pumpkin
  7. I would love to go to one of those seminars but it always seems like I find out about them after they've already happened. Is there a site I can go to or some way that I can find out when someone is coming to my town?? Awesome tip basser thanks!
  8. I was 17 on Douglas Lake, I was the non-boater with a guy I worked with in one of his club tournaments. I had the kicker fish of the night and a lot of dinks, we beat the 2nd place competitor by 8 pounds and we had big fish (5 pounder) Haven't done that well since then. I'm 21 ;D
  9. I would have to say, in some ways I agree with everyone that has posted a comment. I too know someone who is an amazing angler but has sworn off tournaments since his youth. And, myself, I'm no pro by any measure, I'm ok most days but when the pressure is on I don't think my mind is conditioned enough to handle the pressure and I don't produce what I know I can. KVD definitly gets my vote, he's amazing.
  10. I got some awesome gloves for Christmas you might like...they're BPS gloves and they feel like a neoprene/lycra mix. They're really warm and the index and thumb are notched so you can pull them back over your fingers for tying. They're also waterproof. Mine are black and blue I don't know about other colors.
  11. I would choose Gerald Swindle. Reason being even though he hasn't really done much as far as wins or accomplishments compared to any of the guys ya'll are mentioning, he seems like a really cool guy to fish with and seems to understand the sport very well.
  12. I did see that episode! Thats why I would have to agree with you about going to the Amazon with Gonzaga. My other trip would be to go up north to catch Smallies with KVD. Or maybe the Coosa River with Gerald Swindle.
  13. whats up FT? I don't own one of the senko rods (yet) but i do have 2 cranking sticks and the worm and jig rod. On all three I put a Team Daiwa Advantage Reel and they work together perfectly. That would be my recommendation.
  14. Well I wish there wasn't going to be that many boats on the water, but luck of the draw I guess. Yes we'll definitly have to keep in touch. I've heard two different stories about the lake, one person told me it was highly pressured and the other told me there was no pressure and it was easy to fish. Any particular reason you'll be visiting West Point in March? Caught any good fish anywhere recently?
  15. I lost a 9 pouder a summer ago on Ft. Loudon. I was flipping a black/blue baby brushhog between some lay down pine trees and it hit, at first I thought I was hung up until I turned her out of the brushpile. My buddy grabbed the net and jabbed her with it and dislodged my hook, it was undoubtedly the biggest bass I've ever seen. The next week my buddy went back and caught a fish that was 9.2 we assumed it was the same fish. :'(
  16. What a great thread! This was very informative for me, someone who has been skeptical about trying the C-rig. After reading all of this I definitly will give it a shot. I do have one question I don't think has been asked yet..When searching for a good spot to throw a c-rig is having a really good graph important? I have an older boat and I haven't updated my electronics. They work but I have a hard time finding slopes and humps and dropoff's. Is there something I'm just not seeing when I'm trying to read my graph? :-?
  17. Its on April 13th and 14th. A guy from Maryville is putting it on and I really just wanted to hear from someone who has fished the lake. I've never even heard of the place and all the info I could find on the internet was about the marine base or something around the lake.
  18. I'm from East Tennessee and I fish Loudon and Tellico lakes almost religiously, I recently was invited to a tournament in Lagrange GA on West Point Lake. I'm new to this forum and any information anyone could provide would be awesome! :-?
