Looking to buy first boat
Thoughts on this boat? Good deal? How are Yamaha motors? https://madison.craigslist.org/bod/d/2006-smokercraft-stinger-161/6540593351.html Or this one? https://madison.craigslist.org/boa/d/1997-alumacraft-magnum-165-cs/6538762568.html

Jig Fishing Questions
Agree with this. Do not give up. Jig fishing takes a little more patience than some other techniques. But it's also the most rewarding when you catch that hawg. I catch most of my big summer bass on jigs with a Paca Craw trailer.

Durable multi-use bait caster between $100-$150
I've always been a Curado guy. I have multiple ones and just got the Curado K. Last summer I decided to buy a Tatula and give it a shot. Man, I was so impressed I bought 3 more (in different models/ratios). Can't say enough good things about them.

Thanks guys. I'll take everything into consideration. One thing I'd like, but realize I'd maybe have to pay more, is locking rod lockers.

Looking to buy first boat
Thanks for the replies. I fish mainly bass, but also fish pike and muskie from time to time. Not sure if I want tiller or steering. Any pros/cons? Kind of want steering. But pros for tiller would be more room in the boat I suppose. And with steering, you have more issues that can go wrong/break I suppose? Price range is around $7,000-$8000 (or less), so new is out of the question. Tho that 40th Anniversary gives you a lot of boat for that price.

Looking to buy first boat
Hey guys/gals. I am looking to buy my first boat (not counting jon boats I've owned) ASAP. I'd like something in the 16' range. And Aluminum. And I'm thinking around 40HP. Are there any tips you can give me as far as what to look for, and what to stay away from? Are certain motors a no no? Is Mercury the best? Should I get 4 stroke over 2 stroke? Certain boat brands that I should shy away from? As far as trailer goes, are rollers or bunks better? I admit I'm quite naive to this all. Appreciate any help.

Question regarding line color
Obviously any line color can and will catch fish. But do certain colors catch more fish? Do certain colors make fish more hesitant to commit? That's the $100,000 question.

Question regarding line color
So, I've always fished mono. Last year I started using braid on my frog rod. And this year I'd like to dabble in fluoro and/or coploy lines. Now, I've always heard (for mono at least) that the green line is better for stained/muddy water, and clear line is better suited for clear water. Now, here's what I always questioned. In stained/dirty water, it's best to use black/dark lures, since they're more visible to the fish. Well if that's the case, wouldn't the green mono be more visible to the fish in stained/muddy water than the clear mono? Also, why don't anybody make green fluorocarbon? Is it not necessary because clear fluoro is pretty much invisible in stained and clear waters?

River2Sea S-Waver
Anybody have issues with the back treble hook getting caught up on the tail of the lure? I've seen a handful of reviews mentioning this.

River2Sea S-Waver
Hi guys. I've been wanting to get one of these tot try out. The sliding motion looks amazing from videos I've seen. And compared to other glide baits, the price isn't too bad. Anybody use them? Size preference? Color> I can't decide between the 4 3/4" and the 6 3/4". 6 3/4" seems pretty big, but I've also read a few reviews that the 4 3/4" sinks much faster, which is a little of a turnoff. I live in WI where a 5 lb bass is a nice bass. I imagine the 6 3/4" would be the way to go if you lived in CA, FL etc. But how about in the midwest? Sure, I wanna catch "bigger" fish. But I also wanna catch numbers with the bait, if you know what I mean,

Looking for a good all-around spinning rod for lighter lures
Thanks guys. Appreciate all the replies. I'll definitely look into the ones mentioned. Obviously online there's more variety. I just wish I could hold the rods before buying. Sadly that isn't always possible.

Looking for a good all-around spinning rod for lighter lures
Thanks. It's been years since I had a BPS rod. I do remember liking the one I had. How's the handle on those carbonlites? They seem a tad short in the pics I've seen. Hmm..I don't see Fury's coming in 7'2" and 7'3" lengths.

Looking for a good all-around spinning rod for lighter lures
Sorry for posting this topic, since I'm sure it's been discussed numerous times. I found a few threads people started asking about specific spinning rods, but I didn't wanna hijack their threads. I mainly use casting rods/baitcasters, but I'd like to get 2 spinning setups this year to throw lighter stuff (TRDs, weightless plastics, finesse baits in general). For the rod I'd like to stick to around $100-$120. So far, these are the 3 I've been looking at. But I'd love to hear any other recommendations. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Falcon_BuCoo_SR_Spinning_Rods/descpage-FSR0.html http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dobyns_Fury_Spinning_Rods/descpage-DFFS.html http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/St_Croix_Bass_X_Spinning_Rods/descpage-TSX.html Kind of wish the first 2 came in 6'10". Also, not sure if I should go medium or medium light. Fast tip? Extra fast? Also looking for reels. I hear good things about the President? Not sure what size tho. The regular President only comes in 5.2:1 ratio whereas the President XT is 6.2:1. Anybody use either of these? Thanks all!

Tow capacity
Thanks for the replies. The Grand Cherokee I'm looking at is a 2017 or '18 Altitude edition. You can't get the tow package with it. I read on forums if you put your own tow hitch on, the max you can pull is 2,000 lbs, because of gearing, etc. But I question that a bit. This is the engine. It's also a 4x4. 3.6-Liter V6 24-Valve VVT Engine with ESS 295 hp 260 lb-ft of torque 8-Speed Automatic Transmission

Tow capacity
Hey guys. I haven't had a boat in some time, and the last one I had was a little jon boat. I'm looking to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it doesn't have the tow package (ones that do have a 5,000 lb towing cap.). So if I put one on myself, the tow capacity will be 2,000 lbs. My question is what kind of boat could I get away with pulling? I wanna get something used around 16'. Something aluminum like a Mirrocraft/Princecraft/Alumacraft/Tracker. I'm thinking 40HP is the most I'd go. Thanks!

If you had to go no fluoro or braid...
Thanks. But these I know. My question is the difference between Big Game and Trilene XT. I use both XL and XT, but have never used Big Game. I see a lot of people like it. I'm wondering what the advantages is over XT.

What's the main difference between Big Game and Trilene XL? Thanks.

The cost of fishing?
Agree. Tho I will say I feel some buyers remorse when I walk into a BPS or Cabelas with the intention of getting 1 or 2 things, and end up walking about with $150 worth of lures/stuff.

DD Wisconsin Bass?
There's a private quarry near me that has ridiculously large bass. Only fished there a few times but can never get the real big ones to bite. But there's rock wall along one side that you can walk along and see them some swimming now and then. They are HUUUGE. Have to be double digits.

Ultra Light Baitcaster
I just bought a Daiwa Tatula SV 103H. And it definitely flings the lighter gear a good distance.
