i wonder what would happen if you used a horny toad as a trailer for a buzzbait... something to try out for sure
  7. white for sure. but thats mostly because my mister twister twintail grubs and my berkley chunks are white. nothing looks cooler than a spinnerbait with a twintail grub.

    the super duper. 'nuff said
  9. also they can be used in any vertical situation. last summer i went on a camping trip in northern quebec, and there was this reservoir with a huge waterfall. the waterfall eroded the area so much that the water was too deep for my line to reach the bottom! in this kind of situation, the only thing you can use is something vertical. if i would've had these i would've caught me a salmon!

try the basirisky frog, it can be used as a buzzbait type lure and on surface algea. it's kinda both, and it's worth trying. when used like a buzzbait it will rock side to side and gurgle kind of like a jitterbug.

anything. try a carolina rigged lizard in the deeper parts and a shallow running crankbait/x-rap/topwater lure for the shallower parts. p.s but realy... anything should work p.p.s if there's any weeds or vegetation on top of the water, throw a frog out there!
  12. man this thing looks cool. it's a lure with huge hooks sticking out everywhere. meant for jigging. this thing looks perfect for ice fishing. http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=jigging_rap&freshorsalt=Fresh also check out the big brother : http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=jigging_shad_rap&freshorsalt=Fresh i'm hunting for these, and once my lake freezes over, it's ice fishing time!
  13. for lizards, you can carolina rig them and drag them on the bottom. that would be my suggestion. lots of the time the lizard does most of the action itself
  14. favorite lure company? i gotta say lucky craft
  15. the g-splash is a good buzzbait type topwater lure

the zoom horny toad is usualy kept in motion and is used kind of like a buzzbait. personaly, i prefer a buzzbait. the spro frog is a better buy. throw it on surface slime and jerk it super gently with loooooooong pauses. once you get to the edge, wait for as long as you can stand it with just the tip of the frogs nose sticking off the edge, then twitch it out to open water and you'll usualy get good strikes like that
  17. white spinnerbait with white mr twister 4" twintail grub but i've had lots luck with zoom baby brush hog
  18. how do you work a crank and glide? the only thing i do with a worm is lift my rod tip about a foot and a half pretty briskly, then slowly lower it while reeling in, then pause and repeat. i'm a noob with worms
  19. about 5 feet of water, lots of emergeant grass, relatively close to shore, muddy bottom. i'd probably fish a fluke along the edge of the grass, or throw a plastic worm into the grass texas rigged with a small weight and hop it along the ground out of the grass what would you use?
  20. manny replied to JigNBig's topic in Fishing Tackle
when you talk of "shaking the bait" what motion do you make with your rod? just a side to side motion on semi-slack line? will that cause your bait to jiggle on the bottom?
  21. man that is nice. it's alot bigger than i thought though, it'd be good for pike
  22. when fished on a texas rig with weight, what kind of weight do you use? and is it fished along the bottom or higher up?
  23. i bought a pack of nightcrawlers from berkley gulp! in pumpkinseed and i have zero experience fishing plastic worms so whats the best way to fish these? carolina rig? texas rigged? weightless or not? texposed? skinrigged? wacky rigged? on a jighead? remember i've never fishing a plastic worm in my life, so please elaborate p.s this is for other kinds of worms too
  24. i bought a pack of these a while ago along with some nightcrawlers, both in pumpkinseed. i haven't tried them yet but can you wacky rig them? what i would do is wacky rig them, toss 'em, when they hit the bottom, wait a couple seconds, then just lift it and let it sink, wait a bit more, lift it, let it sink etc. of course senkos are probably better for that sort of thing, but just a theory, i'll probably chuck these
