Looking for two casting rods - Not overly priced
Thanks guys. What about length for shore and kayak use? Maybe someone can chime in on that too? Id also assume that I can use the H power rod in the light stuff for frogs too right? Im still confused on what a power would do/effect if I "didnt" need all the power, if that makes sense. Like why not have a more powerful rod and NOT need it, versus needed it and not having it?

Few question on carving wooden lures, materials need etc.
So I figured why not try and carve some lures out of basswood. Its not going to cost much at all, passes the time and so on. My questions are: Do Screw-eyes work fine for bass? Will they work for both the hooks and the line? How do you know how to choose the correct size split ring and treble hooks to the lure size? Is there a chart for reference? Does anyone know of a cheap air brush kit or can I get by with acrylic paint and a brush? Can you run an airbrush gun off of a large air compressor? I dont see why not...

Looking for two casting rods - Not overly priced
So I have to Avid-Xs for my spinning setups, but I bought two Tatulas recently and looking to get two rods for them. Im not after super sensitive like the Avid-Xs are but more so strength and durability. I bought one reel in 6.3 and the other in 7.3. I think Id like to use these two casting rods for frogs, jigs, spinners etc. The heavier baits, even top water etc. So IMO, I dont need sensitivity as most hook-ups are going to be by them blowing up on it or taking it and running since I'll be pretty much cranking the whole time. I dont want to spend much, and I know that relevant to whatever I consider too much. Id say 75 a rod or so? Little cheaper would be better... I fish from the shore and will be from the Hobie this year too. I currently have 7' Avids in M/fast and MH/fast. I dont know if I should go 6'6'' or just stay 7''... Thats why Im here, looking for your guys help. Thanks all! Edited: What about Power Pro line weight recommendations? I see people say 50-60# PP for froggin etc. Seems excessively high.

What method? Im lost lol. All in all, do what you can to try and remove the hook. That method posted above works great.

Gut hooked one...
Bluebasser86 showed me that link last year, I saved two fish like that... Its great once you learn it, though I did loose one. I didnt use my fingers on the hook eye though they gill, I used my pliers, but still worked none the less.

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals

So maybe a 6.3 for cranks and spinners/buzz/jerks etc and 7.3 for worms t rigged, wacky whatever?

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals
Thanks! Why do you recommend one of each speed? It seems like very common practice to just get whatever ratio and either speed up or slow down if needed? It would almost seem good to get the middle of the road ratio and do just that. Speed up or slow down if needed....

Lol. Yeah I think I'm going to scrap the saltwater and get two for bass use only.

Ok cool. I'd assume they are strong enough for striped bass?

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals
Thanks. I think I'll go Tatula. Any idea if they can. Be used on Striped Bass / salt water kayak trolling? I may get some for that too... I really want them for bass, but if they can be used for Salt, it's an even better deal. What what ratios? Should I do moiddle of the road or go high speed and slow down as needed?

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals
I think I want to go left handed on the reel, so with that being said, is this the tatula? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Daiwa-Tatula-CT-100HSL-7-3-1-Left-Hand-Baitcast-Fishing-Reel-TACT100HSL/302157027658?epid=1192960810&hash=item4659f6594a:g:jWAAAOSwIrlaRAX7 they dont come in 8.1 so Id have to settle for the 7.3

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals
Thanks. I have seen people say get the Fuego and upgrade the bearings, but I cannot find anything on that. I did see people talk about the TWS and leaders.... I dont think Thats going to be an issue as I dont plan on running a leader anytime soon since the fear of birds nesting braid is a big money loss... Im thinking heavy cover stuff... I may just get one in M and MH ( rod wise ) and just duplicate the spinning rods... Unles you think it might be better to spread it more out and get a L and MH setup for casting. Although I dont see much use for a L setup for bass, as most lures are over the rods weight, no? Doesnt seem that it would get much use.

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals
True. I just recently got back into fishing. My spinning setups are Avid-Xs with Presidents. Both Fast and one is M and MH. I fish plastics, jigs, cranks whatever. Thats why I want to push more onto casting for the heavier stuff I guess? Or maybe just to learn something new ,and spend some money lol. I plan on buying two just because of the deals today, but then I also need to buy two rods as well, so thats more money spent too. I dont know if I plan on running braid in them due to birds nesting, so I'll run mono for sure...

Nice, so do you think its worth going Tatula against the Fuego? And I want to jump on this now, but stuck in two places... Do I get one or two casting setups? Seems like I could do ALL with a MH for an average guy like me. Id like to throw pretty much anything on it if possible while keeping down on rods/equipment. and Do I go RH and LH?....

Interesting... I think I came across a thread from you a little bit ago under the same conundrum as me, right?

Looking to buy my first casting set-ups... Seems like now is the time: Fuego/Tatula deals
With all of the Diawa deals going on now and in short lived order, I think I should jump now. Is there a reason to get the Fuego CT over the Tatula CT? Can someone give me the quick, down and dirty on them? Also, assuming the cheapest place to buy them is online? Being these are my first setups, would two get me by for now? That is two casting setups? I already have three spinning setups. Is there one or two codes to be used on ebay ( Its the cheapest place, right? ) I have seen many threads on the deals and I cannot remember, and now Im loosing it trying to locate that thread... Oh also assuming, I should just go 8.1:1 and slow down when needed or go middle of the road at 7.3:1 (I think those ratios are correct... ) Thanks!!

Thanks fellas. I'll test out the rods one day very lightly and see what feels best to me. Then I'll return one.
