Question on a rods weight to fish size in your area...
So Im located in Md, and generally just got serious into bass fishing here in MD. I used to fish before, but never serious. I did my research on here and it led me to get St.Croix's Avid-X line up in M and MH and both in Fast. Now, from what Ive learned here, the rods weight ( in this case, M and MH ) doesnt matter really what fish your fishing for, its based on the weight of the lures I would throw... right? I know the M isnt a finesse rod, but I could still throw power worms, senkos, Kreatures etc etc as long as its within the rod's "lure weight" range right? Then use the MH for the heavier lures like cranks, spinners etc. Now where Im going with this is, I met a guy today that stated I cant use those rods for MD's bass as they are too small... Thats not true now is it? Im hoping that I didnt make an expensive mistake here lol. I used them this year, did okay, but now it had me thinking, am I setup wrong?

Lures for Bluegill and Crappie/other smaller fish?
With the grubs, what are you guys using? Just a 1/8 or 1/16oz ball head jig? With a spinner? Also on those Beetlespins, do I just buy one and toss it once the bait is tore up? Or cna you reuse the jig/spinner for say other smaller grubs/crappie style tubes etc

Lures for Bluegill and Crappie/other smaller fish?
Thanks guys. I threw some 6# Trilene on there because its what I have. I hope it wont be too much line, although I dont see why. 4# just seems too light for me.

Lures for Bluegill and Crappie/other smaller fish?
I recently got into bass fishing again, so now Im looking to get a little setup, tackle wise , for BG, Crappie and other smaller specie fish. Im going to be fishing them off of an ultra-lite rod. Curious on lure types/weights that I should buy... I appreciate any and all help here. Thanks.

Keitech swimbaits... Few questions
Do they work well on large mouth as well? I mean, Id assume so, what I meant was do they excel on SM versus LM?

Keitech swimbaits... Few questions
hey guys, Im thinking about getting a few Keitech swimbaits and curious as to what size would be the goto for bass? Should I go with the Swings? Fat Swings? Easys? Also, should I be using a weight head jig hook or more of a keel weight hook? What size? Appreciate it.

What are a few must have lures for bass...
I just got back into bass fishing, what are some must buy lures. I have a few, but curious as to what y'all say. I mainly fish works, but hard baits are nice to have too. What about some specific named/branded lures?

Avid vs Avid-X: who has both?
Versus the avid X? Issue is its all subjective... Most here say the X is better than the Avid. Choices...

Having a hard time catching fish on wacky rigged senkos
Great. Now I have these 1/0 wacky hooks... Lol

Having a hard time catching fish on wacky rigged senkos
There is bluegill in there. Those little things are ruthless lol. But these feel bigger than them, maybe just a big bluegill.

Having a hard time catching fish on wacky rigged senkos
So there is a small pond I fish, and using worms, hogs etc Texas style, I can catch them. But rigging up senkos wacky, has yet to land me a fish. Tons of bites and pulls bit no hooksets. I went from a 5" down to a 3" or 4" and still nothing. Using a weedless wacky hook and octopus owner both on 1/0. Any idea?

Avid vs Avid-X: who has both?
Thanks. I am using it on spinning gear. I havent made the jump to casting yet... yet. lol. But I do run 20# braid with leaders, but if I have to ditch the leaders because of the micros, so be it.

Avid vs Avid-X: who has both?
this is another thing that confuses me... The Mojo bass rod ( newer version ) says its the SCIII blank. Thus being the SAME as the Avids... wouldnt that give it the same sensitivity. Maybe a hair more to the micro guided rod, but is it THAT much different?

Avid vs Avid-X: who has both?
Should I still shoot for 7' in length on the Avids? I'll be using it from the bank mostly, maybe a kayak here and there. Also Should I run the same power as I had in the Mojo's? I have M and MH in fast... Id like to use them for everything, but I think all I'd do would fall under the weights of that... I dont think Id be doing much finesse ( although I dont know what differentiates plastic worm fishing versus finesses fishing? ) Anyway, thanks

Avid vs Avid-X: who has both?
Whats the difference in the seats? Speaking of that, how tight should one make the reel to rod "nut"? If that makes sense... Also what is the deal with the split grip? Is it just a fad? Does it help increase sensitivity?

Avid vs Avid-X: who has both?
So I'm coming from the Mojo Bass spinning rods. Both were in fast , on was a M and one was MH, 7'1 . I'm thinking about upgrading to the Avid series, but I want a few opinion's from someone that has both or has at least fished both . Not used both or regurgitating some info they heard from someone else. I don't know if the micro guides are worth it , and worth the trade off of me not being able to use leaders. Sure I can still use them but I don't have confidence in me trying the FG knot. I use 20# braid and 10# leaders. So if you have used both, basically do they feel the same? I'm sure the weight difference is not that big, so to me that's a moot point. I'm wondering about sensitivity...

So I had to send back both new St.Croix rods... Buy up to the Avids?
Yeah they are going to take care of it. But what astounds me is that I talked to two different. People, one via phone and email, and I even sent then a video via email. No one could tell.me if it's normal, or not... So that's why I sent them in. I just never noticed it on any rod before.

Thanks. All in all, I'm a little upset that both rods are doing that.... I have had cheaper rods years ago, no issues. I mean many of my friends have BPS rods, ugly sticks, Loomis etc and no issues... Expected a bit more from them.

What size Whopper Plopper? 90 or 110?
I have spinning gear and it's a st.croix MH/ F and M/F, both on braid

I guess no more mono leaders? I know this has been asked before, but I don't remember. Can leaders damage guides?

So I had to send back both new St.Croix rods... Buy up to the Avids?
Few of you guys may remember my conundrum on choosing a rod. I went with the St.Croix Mojo Bass spinning rods in M/F and MH/F. Anyway, I noticed after fishing them for two months, on both rods, the guides are bad. I was removing the string from on rod and I touched the guide. I heard a click... So then I touched it again, heard it again, and heard it on a few more guides. All you had to do to make it click over and over is just tap it lightly... If I squeezed the area where the guides are attached to the blank, the click wouldn't happen. Thus leading me to believe it was an attachment issue or how the guides are bonded. They offer a buy up program. I'm a little hesitant to buy them again. Should I upgrade to the avid or avid-x maybe? Or just give the mojo another try? Suggestions?
