I would go with a 2500. It's a bit lighter and that helps on a long session.

Besides the beach umbrella i caught i also caught a cormoran fishing with live bait for walleye! The funny thing is the bird didn't surface for about 3-4 minutes and i really thought it was a fish. It only surfaced about 6 feet in front with about 7 people gathered around me giving me dirty looks! :-[ I released it unharmed.

Yes, the quality of the XPS hooks is not very good. I mostly use the owner rig'n hook.

Raul, where do you insert the nail weight in to the beaver because i'm having the exact same problem like hookemdown? I was catching alot more fish in the cold! Water temp is about 48 (surface) now.
