Read the article today too. Was surprised he mentioned 1/4 oz jigs, that is heavier than I've ever heard related to Ned rigs. I have had good luck with half a Havoc Flat Dawg though.

I'm thinking about getting a Donkey Hustler rod, I figure a Mag Heavy should do...

I've fished them (90 size) on mono and straight braid with similar results. I don't know exactly why but this lure more than any other the back treble always seemed to catch fish in the gills, side, etc., and the front treble was firmly in the mouth. I removed the rear treble and upsized the front to a #2. Probably exaggerates the dynamics that cause the "issues" some have but I hold my rod up a bit on the retrieve and it does its thing. Don't feel that the hook adjustment has done anything to hurt the hookup ratio, yet at least.

Zoom UV Speed Craw and for a lighter approach the BPS Incredible Craw. I've caught a lot on the Incredible Craw and it's discontinued SK predecessor. They work on finesse jigs too.
