TN has some pretty good resources on their Wildlife Resource Agency site that I've researched in the past when visiting my brother in Murfreesboro. Haven't gotten to try much down there so can't help with specific locations or baits for the area. I believe the Sufix Advance was in the Bassmaster ICAST list. Looking forward to trying that more than anything else I've seen so far. But that is partially because I don't have funds in hand for a new Tatula. Anyone else seen the strange colored new Berkley Lightning Rod Shock?

Uh yeah...had a good evening with a whopper plopper and then a good morning with a buzzbait...next thing you know I'm picking up some new frogs and window shopping poppers. Couldn't stop with the topwater this morning to my own detriment.

Been eyeing some of the new Plano bags. They look good, let us know how they hold up.

I have a few year old version of the crankbait rod and it's been solid for me. I like it and it's worked well enough I'd consider another if the price was right. They have the Performance series at Dick's and those had a much cheaper feel to me than the Tournament series you can find at Cabelas for $70-$100. Cabelas ZX series had technique specific rods for $100 regularly but they seem to selling off what they have left of those and don't have many options left to choose from. Maybe check out the Abu Garcia Vendetta or Veritas lines. They have a fair amount of size, power, and actions available they just don't put technique specific labels on them.

Not sure about Trout but a guy I work with does pretty well with them for largemouth and white bass.

I have the spinning rod which I got on a similar sale a year and a half ago and I've handled the casting versions in the store a little. They are a pretty solid rod for the money, especially when on sale. I've had no issues with my spinning rod that I didn't cause. If you have a chance to get your hands on one prior to buying it might be a good idea to do so. The grip on the casting rod is thicker than pretty much any other casting rod I've held. Not necessarily a bad thing but I could see some people not liking it.

I literally never start the day with my spinning rod and Ned Rig in my hands but the majority of the time I end the day that way.

I plan to give the C-Rig the ole college try this year...again. Want to give walk the dog lures like a spook another shot too.

I have used Siege the last 4 or 5 years and have had no issues with knot slippage. I use a uni knot for everything. Usually 7 wraps for smaller diameter mono (8 lbs and less) and 5 or 6 wraps for heavier mono. I use 10-12 wraps for a uni with braid.

As others have stated, it's a bug difference. I used dark green for a couple seasons and struggled to see my line most of the time. Switched to chartreuse this year and wish I did it sooner.

Lot of good choices above. My favorite is probably Zoom UV Speed Craw. They make it in a whole bunch of colors so odds are they make what you want. Ajay's advice is right on. I saw the concept he mentions in a BR bladed jig thread and tried it out. A Pit Boss rigged vertically is a nice bulky presentation on any kind of jig. The Rage Menace looks good rigged vertically too.

I use baitcasters and spinning in my kayak. Walk the dog topwaters are the main baits I struggle with in my kayak but not too hot with them from the bank either so might just be operator error. Pitching can be a little tough at times from the seated position but I'm getting better at it. Just gotta keep firing away!

I do for almost all may hard baits. Only exception I can think of where I don't is a whopper plopper. There has been a couple good threads about snaps and crankbaits in the past if you are able to find them.

I typically use a 3/8 oz period. I can adjust retrieve speed or trailer if I want it to ride higher or lower in the water column. Don't use them much beyond 10' deep.

Bomber Square A with the KVD 1.5 a close 2nd. The Bombers don't have great hooks but they are cheap so a hook swap is no big deal.

My casting improved a ton when I actually listened to the advice I had seen on this site and given in the various videos I watched on casting (Glenn's included). I used to really force the casts like Catt described. I started using the 2-hand lever casting with an emphasis on trying to be smoother and making sure I'm loading the rod instead of just trying to wing the lure as hard as I could. The difference in casting distance and precision was night and day.

The ones you all made look pretty good. Has anyone tried these weights with with any of the available "EZ" change skirts? I was thinking with those you could change the whole look of the rig on the fly pretty quickly just by swapping the skirt and plastic trailer.

I use uni-knot for all lines, for braid I usually still only pass through the eye once and then do 12 wraps. I use snaps on most lures in lieu of split rings. The snaps recommended above are a good option. If you're not sure about using snaps you might be able to solve your problem by swapping the circle split rings on your lures for oval split rings. Line shouldn't slide into the split with oval rings.
