Favorite 1.5 Shallow Diving Crank ?
Bomber Square A down to about 3-ish feet and KVD 1.5 if I need to go a little deeper or just want to make a longer cast. May need to broaden my squarebill horizons though since my favorite Square A color is discontinued. I usually go with shad and crawfish color oriented in fall for crankbaits.

Devil's horse help
If it is just a screw in eye you can find them at lure building sites like lurepartsonline, janns netcraft, and probably Barlow's Tackle. If those are a wire through type lure then you'll need someone more capable than me to chime in. Good luck with your fix!

New Sufix Advance?
Do the coils smooth out after some use? I've used Sufix Siege for 4 or 5 years and it definitely has some memory and will get coils. They seem to smooth out after fishing with it some each time.

DIY plastic keepers on hooks
I've been tinkering with doing this by tying a doubled uni snell knot and cutting all the tags so there was a little left to act as a keeper. I used 20 lb Big Game. It worked ok but was a bit of a pain to tie. Going to try the shrink wrap and wire (or heavy mono) route to see if that works better.

Just when you think you have it figured out...
Real hit and miss August for me too. Can't tell you for sure where they went but keep plugging away and you'll find them.

I was told Shimano is the only spinning reel under $100 whose bearings won't rust - is this true?
Not sure I've dunked any if my spinning reels but they've definitely been rained on at least. I usually just make sure they are left in a place they can dry and oil if I think it's needed. Don't know if the guy at the shop was purposely misleading you or just didn't know any better. Tackle Warehouse description for the Revo X says it has stainless steel corrosion resistant bearings.

You're Revo X should do just fine for you. If reel bearings rust in a year you got a bad one. I have a 10 year old Abu Cardinal that was maybe $50 new and it works as good as ever. Shimano and Daiwa have good options in pretty much any price range but not buying one of those doesn't mean you're destined for failure.

What are you throwing the Whopper Plopper 75 on?
I use MH casting, M spinning, and my M MF crankbait rod for my WP 90s. Will probably use any/all of those for the 75s I inevitably purchase. I've been preferring my M spinning rod lately for the same reason Scott F said. The M rod just loads and casts better. Reel retrieve speed juat feels right too.

The Whopper Plopper in choppy water.
I've had good luck with the WP 90 on calm days. I move up to the bigger sizes when there is some chop on the water. Sounds like the 75 size works on those days too.

My Take On What The Milford Bass Were Doing (LENGTHY)
Great job and awesome write up!
- Have Whopper Ploppers made buzz baits obsolete?
- B.A.S.S. buying FLW... Will it happen soon?

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Flathead on a crankbait yesterday. My by catch game is taking off. RIP to my Bomber Square A in brown/chartreuse that I caught the cat with. Fell victim to a cast net someone got snagged and left behind. Pretty sure that color is discontinued and I can only find in store at Walmart but it catches fish so time to hunt for more.

Top water bite = ???
If I get zero bites on a topwater or 3 then I can usually put it down reasonably quickly. It's when I catch a topwater fish quickly that I tend to hang onto it for too long chasing another blow up.

Fallen timber.......
After reading through this I was thinking exactly what @bagofdonuts just said. If you are using a weighted hook for this application maybe give what he suggested a shot (t-rig with bullet weight) and an EWG hook. I don't peg my weights a lot but I agree with those who said to peg it for this application.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
From last Saturday...Picture doesn't do it justice but this wiper was a little under 9 lbs. They are a blast to catch, especially in a kayak.
- Any reason to buy a Whopper Plopper 75 if you already have the WP 110 and 90?

Monofilament line
The diameters for Advance look pretty much identical to Sufix Siege and Elite. All my combos are mono (mostly Siege) and braid. Really looking forward to trying Advance. If it has similar properties to Siege but the increased feel of a fluoro it should be pretty popular.

Crazy Catch
Man, I thought I was a cool dad when I used my WP 130 to rescue my sons' prized mini hollow-body frog that he casted off. You upped the difficulty big time!

Strange activity
Yeah, most likely a school of shad or other baitfish. The lake I fish the most has gizzard shad and I see that type of surface activity often.

St Croix Mojo Yak series rods
I read the handles will be shorter and they appear to be in the photos I've seen. Having too long of a handle or rod when kayak fishing hasn't been an issue for me personally while using rods from 6'-6" to 7'-3. I can see the potential advantage of the shorter handles though especially for any lures you move with the rod like jerkbaits or spooks.
