I caught my first bass on a shad dart.

I live in Westminster, MD and fish Liberty, Loch Raven and Pretty Boy Reservoir.

I know, right?

I just picked up a few high-end combos for 2021. First up is the Daiwa Steez Bottom Contact paired with a 2020 Metanium. This setup feels balanced especially for a 7'5" rod. This will be my 1/2 oz jig rod. Second up is the Megabass Detroyer P5 Madbull paired with a Steez A TW. I'll be using this for medium cranks, top water, bladebaits, spinnerbaits and small swimbaits. I've had this on the water several time and it is amazing. I have never spent this amount of money on 2 combos, but life's short so why not. I can't wait to put these new additions to work this spring.

It depends on the condition. If they are suspended I try a spinnerbait. If that doesn't work I try a jerkbait, then dropshot or a blade bait. If they are cruising the banks I try tubes, compact jigs and ned rigs. The fun part is trying to figure them out that day. I caught this on a tube off of a steep bank in 30 foot of water. The water temp was 46 degrees.

I'm fishing grasslines, light laydowns, brush piles that the sneaky tournament guys drop in the winter, rocks, ledges and open water. I throw up to 1/2oz pitching and football jigs. Do you think this should work? I like the fact that I could also use it for a C-rig and chatterbaits. Thanks, Billy

I'm getting a replacement for the DX 703SF that snapped on me for the 2nd time. I was offered a Serria and a Champion because they are out of a lot of the DX models. The DX 745 is a killer rod!

That's not an option right now. I just forked out a Disney World trip for the family and with Christmas around the corner, I'm broke.

I need a jig rod by the end of the month.

That's my first choice. I have a warranty replacement for an Extreme but they are out of the DX 745 and won't have them until January. They are revamping the line.

I'm looking to get a Dobyns jig rod for throwing 1/2 jigs on the reservoirs in Maryland. Most of my time will be fishing grasslines, lay downs, occasional rocks and open water down to 40'. I'm leaning towards the DC 744C but would like other opinions. Thanks, Billy

Does anyone know where I can find Bass Magic Shakey Tail worms? If they are longer being made are there any similar floating worms that can be used on a drop shot to mimic a feeding baitfish? The Bass Magic was money for catching smallies. Thanks, Billy

I'm looking for a nice rod and reel for throwing deep diving cranks up to 6XD. I Will also use it for chatterbaits. I was looking at the mislabeled Dobyns 736CB but I'm not a cranking expert so I would like some recommendations. Thanks, Billy

I'm running 15# Suffix 832 braid on my spinning setup with 8# P-Line CXX for my leader. Some of the reservoirs I fish have very clear water. Would I be better off using a fluro leader under these conditions for less visibility? The reservoirs are heavily pressured this time of year and the smallmouth are very picky. I'm mainly referring to Liberty Reservoir in Maryland for those that may be familiar. Thanks, Billy

What brand line and size do you suggest for a DX 703SF? I have it paired with a Ballistic EX2500H. I'm using this setup for Senkos and tubes and fishing clear water. I'm trying to decide if I should go braid to a leader or straight fluro. Thanks, Billy

I'm using a Dobyns DX 703SF/Ballistic 2500 with Suffix 832 15# to a P Line XXX 8# leader. If I need to I will go up to a 10-12# leader. For me this setup is the perfect Senko rig.

I just want a nice crankbait rod. I'm not too concerned about materials or price as long as it does a great job. Price is really not an issue as long as it's under $350 but I don't feel I have to go that high for a nice crankbait rod.

How about a Champion 735CB that's mislabeled for $170?
