  1. He bought. He sold. 2047 shipment were sent to Krol according to the feds. Then he sold the stuff. www.justice.gov/usao-ednc/pr/fayetteville-man-sentenced-trafficking-counterfeit-goods "the investigation discovered that KROL met with a representative from the Chinese company in Fayetteville to find out what products they could counterfeit. KROL then imported counterfeit products including L’Oreal (Clarisonic), HSI Professional, and Conair (Babyliss) beauty products; Garmin products; Choon’s Design (Rainbow Loom) toys; Philips (Sonicare) products; Zing Anything bottles; Harman International Industries (JBL), LG, and Bose speakers and/or headphones; and Spectrum Brands FURminator dog brushes. The investigation found that 2,047 shipments originating in Hong Kong were addressed to KROL between August 2012 and February 2015. KROL sold counterfeit merchandise, as well as merchandise from legitimate distributors on the internet. He comingled the sales proceeds from the counterfeit products with proceeds from legitimate sales" "
  2. "Be sure comments are on the same organization because they are still alive and well." Feel free to repeat my google searches. Here's another one... Kurt Michael Krol gets convicted in May, and in April one Anthony Krol is made Acting CEO. www.linkedin.com/in/anthony-krol-ab8a233 "Acting CEO at Universal Mania Inc Universal Mania April 2017 – Present (7 months)Fayetteville, North Carolina Area" ____________ I'm the curious sort. Googled their storefront? It's tiny. Either they have a warehouse some other place or they're drop shipping. I don't care, just wondering.

Kurt Michael Krol, 36, was sentenced on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty in mid-December 2015."

I don't like crowds, especially crowds of noisy outboards - pro or non-pro. I'd give a tournament fisherman about as much room as I'd give a professional tractor-trailer driver on the interstate - they're both driving fast and trying to make a living. Having said that, the swarms of big fast trucks pulling big fast boats in the dark on a little two lane road are almost enough to make me leave home for the weekend. I know the speed limit is 55, and 45 in places, but these folks are used to getting places in a hurry. Zoom. I'm a mile north of the ramp on that little road... "Aug 2, 2017 HENRICO — More than 300 anglers will take off from Osborne Park & Boat Landing at 6 a.m. on Thursday for the start of a pivotal event in the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens series." John
  5. This universal mania? Corporate Address: Universal Mania Inc. 1031 Robeson St. Suite A Fayetteville, NC 28305 www.yelp.com/biz/universal-mania-fayettville Looks like nothing but 1-star ratings. Then there's this one... "9/29/2017 The owner was recently convicted and sentenced to prison for selling counterfeit goods. I have a feeling that this business isn't operational any more."
  6. "Bass don't care what color the line is..." About 25 years ago my buddy took me bass fishing to an old historic mill pond full of beaver huts and nearly black water. It was cold and the wind was blowing up small whitecaps and the fishing had been slow all day. He had brought along an old bass rod he wanted me to buy since all I ever had was my assortment of saltwater rigs and he wasn't going to sell me one of his best outfits. I refused to use it all day because it was short and rigged with bright yellow line and a short bubblegum pink worm he'd put on 2 or 3 years earlier and left in the garage to collect dust. The guy has 4 or 5 big racks of outfits to this day and is always looking for more deals. Anyway, along about 4 p.m. I gave in, took this hideous thing and made a 20-foot backhanded cast under some bushes as the wind pushed us at the bank. BANG. My first 7.5 pound largemouth. Go figure. I love fishing. I bought the rod and reel.
  7. "You just can't let anything go." I still have my first two rods and reels. They're casting setups from the '50s. Magnets will stick to the rods and the braid is probably still good.
  8. I wish there was a Lund dealer closer to me than 183 miles. Nice boat. Well, it's not that far to Pennsylvania, is it?
  9. What do you have to lose? Maybe there's one big one trapped in there looking for a meal. I know that quite a few of the places I fish don't seem to have any bass in them until a nice one surprises me.
  10. Cabela's bargain cave has the Pflueger Presidents marked down $20. They have a 6920X and a 6935B listed. www.cabelas.com/product/bargain-cave/fishing/reels/pc/105591780/c/105740280/sc/105742980/pflueger-reg-president-reg-spinning-reel/1254609.uts?slotId=0 $5 shipping if you spend $99 or more.
  11. "what did it hit?" Chartreuse spinnerbait with colorado blades and a 4" chartreuse grub trailer. It took off running almost like a pickerel and tried to swim around the boat. My buddy weighs 200 pounds and was fishing a good MH rod and he had his hands full.
  12. Fall will get here eventually I suppose. The shallow pond was 77* yesterday and kind of slow. Hot and humid, not a cloud in the sky. I caught the first 3 bass, all 1 to 3 pounds, and once again my friend caught the largest. It was 23" long, but only weighed 6.67#. The crappie were chasing the minnows up out of the water. It was entertaining watching small schools of them tailwalk over and over until we left after lunch.
  13. "I'm looking for the right emoji to insert here, but I can't quite find it in the available list..." How about this oldie...
  14. I don't care. I don't think the fish care either. And if there's anybody watching me fish, well, I need to find a less crowded place.
  15. I've been using 3 of the plastic Schumacher smart chargers for going on 4 years and my 3 Group 29DC Walmart batteries are holding up just fine. They're like new according to various meters. My chargers are the 2/6/10 variety and I use the 2 amp setting. Other folks I fish with have used the 2 amp setting for a lot longer than I have and they're getting 5 or 6 years out of their $99 Walmart batteries. Call us idiots, go ahead. I can deal with it. Maybe my smart charger is smarter than yours. John
  16. My friend just sent me the pic of my first largemouth over 9 pounds. I caught it on a Booyah spinnerbait with a 4" trailer. The joy of owning a digital scale - exactly 9.25. This was a few years ago and he's still laughing at me because I didn't know how to hold a bass that big.
  17. My buddy and I have been using them for years and haven't had any problems. Most days they're what we fish, along with some big worms and chatterbaits. He sold me on them and says he won't trust one after about 50 fish, not counting the dinks. Here's a 10.5-pounder he caught on one this spring using a 6" trailer. I weighed it on a digital scale. The spike on the hook does a good job of holding trailers, too. My best fish on one was an even 10 pounds. We'll be out there again Friday, so maybe that'll change.
  18. I bought my first Shimano in the '80s because I knew the name from biking and my buddy was bass fishing semi-pro at that time and doing shows and stuff and getting lots of free tackle. He got me a new Shimano surf reel for $32 - and admitted he only paid the regional rep $25 for it. I didn't care, and I still use it. It's one of the original Triton Sea Spin Baitrunners, a 4500 with a graphite spool. I have two other Baitrunners, but they're the 2nd gen models. I have Shimano spinning reels for bass, but my casting reels are all ABU Garcia for some reason - 3 Premiers and an SX. I have other casting reels, but they're cheap and old, some going back to the '50s. I like my buddy's Daiwa Steez, but I haven't found a steal on one like he did. John
  19. Chartreuse spinnerbait with a 4" chartreuse curly tailed trailer.
  20. Then there was the day my buddy was driving my boat from the front seat and pulled a 8.5# largemouth out on a no-name, floating, rattling crankbait. While he was digging for his phone to take a pic, I cut the crankbait off his line, tied it on mine, cast over his head across the same point, and pulled an 8.25# one out. Two citations in the boat at one time. John
  21. When I drive two hours to the lake in the dark and the motor starts on the first pull.
  22. I have 3 Gen3 Premiers that haven't had any problems during a couple of years of use and I throw a lot of spinnerbaits with 4-inch curltail grubs on them. Time will tell, but I don't fish them everyday in tournaments either. I bought an SX recently at Cabela's for $99 and don't have an opinion yet. If the Gen4 reels are better and still the same weight, more power to them. Nearly all of my spinning reels are Shimano, except for some old Daiwa Silver Series 1600 and 4000 saltwater reels. I even have a few of the original Baitrunner series in use that I bought back when they were $40 to $100. I could easily make the jump to Shimano casting reels if given half a reason. Oh boy, an excuse to go shopping.
  23. "where the heck did you find that?!?!" I'd heard about them years ago and found the pic on a big auction site. It seems they were made for one year in the late '40s and are selling for $20 or $30.
  24. I have no idea. Might last forever or an 11-pounder might break it. Have you considered tying the dirty end of the line to the spool and fishing with the clean end that hasn't seen the damaging rays of daylight for eight years? You could get another 8.5 years of worry-free fishing out of it.
  25. I don't own one, but AC spark plugs once made a promotional fishing lure.
