  1. Ill keep this all in mind. Was looking st some neoprene gloves to so maybe both of those combined would be perfect
  2. Wondering what everyone uses for some cold weather gloves? Looking for something that is light yet warm and waterproof so I don’t have to keep taking them on and off when handling fish. Also being able to still grab a rod easily is nice to. Any suggestions ?
  3. I’m going out tomorrow ! We have 53 degrees with 7 mph w winds ! Can’t wsjt
  4. I have never done any river or creek fishing and I should. We have amazing chances for steelhead with Lake Erie but I never learned how to fish for them
  5. I have had this happen a few times. Usually when this is the case I don’t fish bc it gets annoying having to take the ice off
  6. Yeah that would be horrible .. I feel the pain though as usually by December the lakes are frozen and don’t unfreeze until around April .. so we get about 4-5 months of no fishing
  7. 10-12# seaguar invisx or sunline super fc sniper!
  8. Straight fluoro always.. unless I’m frogging or topwater. Fish are line shy where I’m at bc if the crystal clear water.
  9. I would go with Irod genesis 2 or a dobyns fury. Both are amazing company’s, you can call both and talk to someone. Great customer service and rods are above quality
  10. The 705CB is actually a medium heavy as I fish around a lot of grass and its lightweight. You could fish plastics on it and light weight lures. 1/4 would be fine. But ad you said the dobyns are a little lighter than your most Mh rods. I have the mojo bass like I said and it’s not as much of a broomstick like the mojo. I guarantee if you got it that you would love it
  11. I don’t want a completely moderate rod but the small trebles or trebles in general re better with a moderate type rod. The dobyns fury 705CB is a moderate fast. It’s hard to explain it but it’s just the perfect amount of tip yet bend that allows to not loose fish. I feel like it’s not moderate fast as other rods but also not truly fast, it’s hard to explain but I bought the rod for exactly what you say and love it. I use it for jerkbaits , cranks, lipless baits and topwater. You can really work it or just use slow twitches. I can cast anything I would say from 1/4 oz up to 1 oz no problem. I actually traded my Irod genesis 2 rod in for the dobyns and I am pleased with it. It’s light weight and sensitive to for the price.
  12. Yeah luckily in Ny you can actually legally fish all year round. I can’t imaginr some places where you have to wait even with open water
  13. Looks like I have to invest into a fish tank haha ! I guess one good thing to is I get to save money during winter since I don’t buy anything fishing related , only day is Black Friday sale but other than that I’m bait monkey free
  14. Yeah I was kind of junk fishing trying to figure them out I even cringed a little seeing the pic haha. An yeah I didn’t realize they had such big perch. When I went out again Friday I threw my perch vision 110 and caught 2 more perch around the same size! Is there any reason to that? I haven’t caught a perch on anything all year and now they are attacking lures
  15. I would go with the dobyns fury CB for what your talking about. I have both a mojo bass rod and a dobyns fury and I prefer the dobyns. It’s a dobyns fury 705CB rod. It says it has a moderate fast action but it’s not really moderate if that makes sense. I have used it for jerkbaits and loved it. Haven’t lost any fish and you can wrk it pretty fast.
  16. I throw them on a 7 ft 1 Mh/fast rod and haven’t missed any. I use a st croix and it has a soft tip for a fast Or if I have something else tied on I use the dobyns fury 705CB rod. Both are good. Those trebles on the ploppers are big and sticky!
  17. My buddy is moving down to Florida keys this weekend! So now I have a friend to visit .. and area to fish most of all haha
  18. Lol I like this one and I agree ! And thanks @Sam that’s what I try and do. I stay on here and help others out. Go over tackle boxes and re arrange things to get ready for Next year. Stocking up on soft plastics etc. I just can’t wait for spring now! Favorite time of the year
  19. I haven’t had any luck with there crankbaits as well but I can tell you this. The jigs and swimjig they have are amazing ! And the lipless cranks are also very good. Caught my PB smallie on the brown eye special lipless crank and tons of others. Also the black light swimjig and bluegill fire swimjig or regular jig are killers
  20. Oh yeah I wish that was our cold. We will get into the negatives sometimes with wind chill factor, and @MassYak85 that would give me a heart attack !!
  21. I don’t do ice fishing.. not a fan of the - degree temps and the ice just scares me !
  22. I do the same! I’ll make a cart checkout like 6 times of things I’m just looking for. Go over and over of all my tackle and clean stuff
  23. I’m not laughing .. it was 35 this morning here today .. high of 43 though !!
  24. The winter blues are starting to set in. Everyone up north knows what I mean . In about a month all this open water becomes hard water and we just have to say dream about spring ! anyone else going threw this yet?
