  1. HAve you bought one yet? Sometimes I get worried as to why it’s so cheap? If so I’m about to get one.
  2. Congrats ! That is also my personal goal! I have came close with a 7 but won’t stop till is get that 8! Nice bass man
  3. I would go with rattle.. I think it adds a little noise in he wind and adds some weight.. plus I think it gives a confidence boost
  4. If you want both size and quantity for smallmouth I actuslly would recommend Lake Erie. I could even show you some areas if your going in the spring that you would love. I live 5 minutes from Lake Erie
  5. I always use a soft plastic paddle tail swimbait. I use 3.8-4.8 Keitechs. They add bulk to the bait and attract larger fish and it adds a little mkre thump. Bass also tend to lock onto the hook better. They see he skirt and a nice looking swimbait and it gives them something to home in on and bite. I usually match the skirt. If I use chart/white I go with white swimbait etc
  6. I have the smoke S3 and love it. It can cast lighter lures as i have casted 3/16 oz baits so idk why anyone would have an issue. It casts like a dream honestly and is pretty smooth. It’s more compact than the daiwa and fits better
  7. Irod genesis 2 Fred’s magic stick is specifically made for just everything you stated. I use it mainly for frogs and it’s amazing ! It’s super lightweight yet strong to pull anything out of cover. Caught my PB of 7 pounds with it pulling along about 10 pounds of weeds. I use a quantum smoke S3 reel with 8:1:1 ratio to pick up slack fast.
  8. That might be another reason bc I usually just chuck and wind, no real work on my end ..
  9. I’ll have to give it a try. I mean I do have the Niagara river right by me lol
  10. True plus 15 years I’m sure has lots of good memories. Ahh I can’t wait for spring already ha. It’s my favorite time of year
  11. I have a few rivers about an hour away but never been one to fish rivers really.
  12. You have to come to Lake Erie for prespawn smallies. I know lake st Clair is a huge go to for a lot of anglers but man I don’t think Erie can be beat. 6 hour fishing trips producing 30-50+ smallies between 3-5 pounds! Largest this past spring was almost 6 that my partner caught ! Such a rush
  13. Keep trying, once you get it down I think it’s one of the more fun ways to fish !
  14. Never heard of the Mann’s ? I’ll have to look those up
  15. Sorry to hear that.. bait monkey will be happy
  16. It all depends on your lake and if you like the bait. I personally like megabass jerkbaits and where I fish I can outfish most people 2:1 when they throw other jerkbaits. When I was out on my friends boat this spring I was nailing them on the 110 and he was like “man what is that magic bait you have” so I showed him and he went out ha got some.. to me it’s worth it. Maybe these will help
  17. I try to in the spring but once summer comes all my lakes are covered in weeds unless it’s like 40 ft deep.. I fish smaller lakes bc I only have a canoe. I have never bumped bottom in the smaller lakes I fish like Tom mentioned so I’m going to try that
  18. Thank you I never knew that. I would always throw crankbaits to imitate bluegill and such and try not to hit bottom. I’ll focus on craw imitations and see how that goes.
  19. Thanks I’ll have to try that. And no shad are present , trout and bluegill/pumpkinseed are the main forage
  20. Yes there is a dam in 2 out of 3 of the places I fish. the main one is actuslly a lake made for a watershed project to protect farms from flooding. It is where I have caught my PB as it is stocked yearly with trout and has plenty of other fish. But the shallower area is full of weeds and is clear water about 5 ft. The dam has dirtier water but generally clear and around 12-15 ft deep. I have never caught anything by the dam but a friend of mine said a couple years ago he caught an 8 pounder in the spring fishing off the dam oh and it’s concrete Lol I have tried fishing crankbaits lots of times and just never end up with anything and go back to the usual power fishing tactics
  21. I have silent and rattle. I have some from strike king , 6th sense , norman , berkley and live target. Oh I have one wiggle wart and some rapala fat DT
  22. I saw this and tried it. I think my lake just doesn’t like crankbaits lol. I can catch them and find them. They just don’t eat the crank ! Silly fish
  23. I fish from my canoe , have thrown parallel. I have squarebills 1.5 and 2.5 size. From multiple companies. Deeep divers and medium. I try ripping it from grass. Staying above grass. I they just never eat it! But I can throw a swimjig , spinnerbaits , chatter bait or pretty much anything else and they eat it.. crankbaits nope!
  24. I know most people who fish have fished using crankbaits be that a squarebill, deep diving, shallow diving, wake bait or medium diving. I have fished all bill types. Silent or rattles and I have never caught anything on a crankbait .. lipless baits have worked and jerkbaits a plenty but that’s it. The lakes I fish don’t have docks or hard bottom. They have lots of grass and weeds of all kinds so crankbaits aren’t to good in them .. still in early Prespawn with no weeds the bass just don’t eat cranks! Anyone else deal with this? Would be fun to have a crankbait bite
  25. Those duo realis g fix looks amazing ! Ahhh stay away bait monkey
