    Welcome fellow Floridian!!!
  2. Glad to hear...... Sadly, I heard from a friend in the panhandle who works for Walton County EMS. His place is a couple miles in from where the hurricane made landfall. Trees down, power is out, road is block, house is gone. All he has left is the slab where everything he once had was. Count your blessings.
  3. I've got some in the pumpkin, junebug, and black and blue. Its good for a quick change, as their name says, but they don't have the same bulk as a 55 strand punch skirt as the ones Mike makes at Siebert Outdoors. I've also had a couple skirts from Gambler that have had strands cut or stacked all to one side, but this is a known quality control issue with this product.
  4. I worked down in the Belle Glade and Pahokee area. When we got calls for someone witnessing a car go into one of the many canals, the sheriff office would bring multiple wreckers out because they would general find more than a single car once they got divers in the water. The most I saw found was 4.
  5. Depends on the spinnerbait. If it is a white or chartreuse spinner, no because I get less strikes with a paddle tail added as a trailer. With bluegill colored spinners, yes. The bigger profile gets more strikes and more hook ups, rather than a blade getting grabbed. I was putting a Keitech FAT Swing Impact on, but I've found the Gambler EZ Swimmers and Big EZ work just as well.

  7. St Croix actually makes several different spinning rods in a heavy power rating for fresh. The SC Premiere is one such rod. I looked at it for heavy lure (1oz+ jerkbaits) and big swimbait (1-2oz) rod. I prefer split grips on a rod, so I ended up getting the Mojo Inshore in a HF. While I haven't pitched with it, I have thrown some Gambler GZ swimbaits on a 1/2oz belly weighted hook into lilly pads and Kissimmee grass. It has more than enough backbone to get a solid hookset, turn the fish, and pull them out.
  8. I've used both the Stradic FK and Ci4+. When it came time to upgrade reels, I purchased more of the Ci4+. I've got 3 of the Ci4+ reels now. The bait monkey has nothing on me.

  10. I throw my Deeper Pro on a Mojo Inshore rod designed for 1-3oz lures. The rod doubles as my heavy jig, Carolina rig, and heavy swimbait rod. I forget what specific reel is on it at the moment, but it is a spinning reel with 30lbs 832 on it. It is a half side arm cast is all I do as it takes nothing to get the Deeper flying to center field. There was a discussion on here about rigging a float to the Deeper should it snap, so a topwater treble bait can snag it to drag it back. Probably overkill, but doubled up 30lb 832 with the biggest float I could find at the local fishing store. It hasn't snapped, but it is ready just in case it were to ever happen. I've tossed the Deeper and float out to test it one day when I was on a boat, just incase I wasn't able to snag it. No issues retrieving it, and I found a shallow running 2-4' crankbait worked a little better than a topwater lure.
  11. 8lb YZH on a pair of spare 2500 size Shimano spools. No problems with line twist. I do use KVD L&L on my reels the night prior to going out.
  12. Yes, I have a couple I’ve retired because chunks of lead are missing and the weight is now off on them. I’ve got one that is just bare wire. Lol. Perhaps I’m too hard on my spinnerbaits. ?
  13. It is more to protect the weight than anything. They were all going to be either white if I went with the acrylic or black if I went with the oil base as those are the colors I have. I have some unpainted ones that are all gouged from bounced off bridges, rocks, and slow rolled on the bottom against who knows what. Yeah, sanding would be a bad idea with lead weight spinnerbaits.
  14. I've got some spinnerbaits that the blades, wires, and hooks on are good. Some of the skirts need replacing, but quite a few have paint chipped or almost completely missing from the spinnerbait head. I'm looking to sand them down and repaint before replacing skirts. I've got some oil based Sharpie paint markers and some acrylic based Painters markers. Which would be better? Do I need to clear coat/epoxy over the paint afterwards? Thanks!

  16. Welcome to Bass Resource forum and a fellow Floridian, too! I have 2 KastKing setups. One is a KastKing spinning reel and the other is a KastKing bait caster. Both are on the Perigee 2 series rod. I added them when I needed some more 2 piece travel rods. I have some good fast action 2 piece rods, but the Perigees fill the niche for a rod in more the moderate action category for me. I've used them for poppers, smaller spooks, lipless cranks, and hard jerbaits. I haven't tried throwing plastics on them as they have a little too much flex through the middle for my taste compared to my dedicated plastics rods I use. Maybe someone else can chime in on their use for plastics. If I need extra rods for a treble hook lure in a tournament, I wouldn't hesitate to grab them.
  17. I have the Avid X and Mojo Bass. I've used leaders on both with no issues. I'm sure you are aware of this. The Mojo Bass and Avid X are all built on a SCIII blank. However, the Avid X is head and shoulders better than the Mojo Bass. When I started buy St Croix rods, I had 1 Avid X and 3 Mojo Bass. As I add more rods, they are have all been Avid Xs. The current count stands at 4 Avid X and 3 Mojo Bass. Go for the Avid X.
  18. That’s right. You’ll never get a reaction bite in the summer on them. ?
  19. Welcome to BassResource! You’ve resurrected a 13 year old thread. You’ll fit in nicely here!

  22. They are on sale. The price just doesn't show as the staff has to manually correct it afterwards. I got a pair of new St. Croix rods along with a new Shimano casting reel and spinning reel. It was full price at check out, but when I got the email confirmation and the charge on the credit card, it was adjusted for 15% off.
