  1. Hi! I'm just going to be as straight forward as possible: What is your opinion on the best 200 or less, VERSITLE, worm and jig rod? Or a rod over 200 that can be had for 200 or less, for example on TW's Black Friday sale is 20% off. Thanks for any input and tight lines! Harrison
  2. I can't provide any judgement on your actually question, but I'm wondering if you have held the new Tat rods in hand yet? I was looking at them as well, but when I got my hands on them I didn't like them. As you can see in pictures on line, the reel seat seems to be shiny and plastic and it is exactly that; this makes it extremely slippery and feels really cheap IMO. If you don't think this will effect you, go ahead and grab one; but for me the reel seat was extremely slippery, which I didn't think that would be good on the water, and the reel seat felt cheap. Just a warning. Tight Lines! Harrison
  3. HI, Looking around for some information on these Daiwa Kage rods, I really like the way they look and they seem pretty quality. I'm confused why Daiwa would release another series of rods only $10 above the Tatula Elite rods, the Tat Elite rods definitely are going anywhere either since Daiwa just added like 3 more rods to the series this year. Also they look exactly like the new Tatula Bass Rods, just take away the Tat logo in the cork handle. Also on the Tat rods, the reel seat is plastic and feels really slippery and cheap; I really like the design/shape of it though, its really comfortable. On the Kage rods they have the same design for the reel seat but the material looks better- not plastic. If anybody has any information on these rods and how they differ from the new Tat Bass rods and more importantly the Tatula Elite rods please let me know. For only $10 more, I don't see how they differ besides reel seat material and the cork handle; better quality bank maybe? That's something that would make me buy it over the others. Thank You!!
  4. Awesome good to know, I'm all in on the Smoke now. Thanks for replying.
  5. Cool good to know. Yeah I have small hands even though I'm tall so this new tatula is supposed to be super compact, that was the only reason I was looking at it. I also won't be buying till the Black Friday sale most likely so hopefully this thread gets seen some more and people continue to comment.
  6. Cool thanks for the input, mine would be on a Sierra most likely. This is the exact reply I was hoping for, thank you. I've just started taking fishing seriously in the past 2 years and I've done my research on everything I buy, but I always like to hear from people with experience with the gear I'm looking at. I want to try lots of brands until I get the one I like the most so I really wanted to try Quantum,I have already tried daiwa with the Fuego CT (I know its their lower end reel but it still counts to me) and all I was worried about was the light-ish T rigs I would throw with the smoke. Thanks for letting me know about the light baits, that's a big help. To everyone else that reads this: I will still listen to what people have to say about the 2 reels although I think I'm going to get the smoke.
  7. Yeah every other baitcaster I have can throw a basic t rig (not that I have a lot of them lmao). If I bought the S3 to see if it can throw the t rigs i want to throw and then say it doesn't, TW would allow me to return it right? Like if its within 14 days or something.
  8. You think the smoke can't do that? That's pretty much exactly what I'd through on this except it would be like 30 or 40 lb braid with a leader.
  9. Yep its gonna be like specifically my jig and worm rod, but also my do everything rod. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, horny toads, anything in a pinch ya know. Thanks for the replies.
  10. Its also 40 bucks more and I lose like a ton of line capacity. I'm sticking with one of these two but I appreciate the suggestion and reply. ?
  11. Exactly my thoughts, the lightest thing I would try to throw is a t rig and I think with enough adjusting I could find settings that allow me to throw them. Weighted t rigs btw; not weightless, I use spinning rods for that. I have other rods for light cranks and topwater. I get what you mean, but I have other set ups for that. I'm just trying to get people opinions on whether I should just go with what people trust the most or try something that seems to be great but is under the radar of most people. It also depends if the Tatula will be in stock on black Friday I guess.
  12. I've been eyeing the Smoke S3 for a while for my new setup and then when I learned of the new Tatula I started eyeing that. The Smoke S3 has only good reviews all over the internet including TackleTour's review and on TW, it looks great, and it has big spool capacity. My main interest with the new Tatula is the size, I am a teenager and I have rather small hands and I think this new tatula would fit my hand a bit better than the Smoke. I know Quantum hasn't had the bigggest following lately, but people are saying the S3 series reels are extremely good reels and i can't find a single bad review, the only problem I heard was throwing light baits and I don't plan on throwing anything under like 3/8 oz plus a trailer. I know there are a lot of hardcore daiwa fans on here so I'm probably going to get a lot of "just go with the Tatula no doubt" but I hope to hear from some people with experience with the Smoke. Just give me your most honest opinion please. Thanks, Harrison btw the rod its almost 100% going to be put on is a Dobyns Sierra if that helps you answer for some reason.
  13. Oh yeah totally love the advice thanks man
  14. Thanks for your thoughts, I will only be using bullets weights up to 3/16 oz but jigs from 3/8 to 1/2. @GateToWire said that he throws his 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs on the 734 so I am almost positive on that rod. Especially since I fish from the bank and a lot of the time the fish is pulling in digs into heavy pads and grass at the bank. I’ll also use it for half oz spinnerbaits if needed and my chatterbaits, love chatterbaits. I needed an all around rod that’s primarily a t rig and jig rod. Seems like the 734 is right.
  15. Yeah i don't want to fall over you know? Lol thanks
  16. Thank you for the basic answer, thats all i needed. Some people write paragraphs for just a simple 1-2 word answer. 4 power it is, i was leaning that way anyway.
  17. Hi, I know there are a ton of posts on Dobyns power ratings and which one is this power and which one isn't. But I need a specific answer because all the other posts don't say, I want to throw t rigs that are 3/16 oz, jigs no more than 1/2 oz, and then a jumble of other things if needed. So really just an all around rod, but I don't know if a dobyns medium heavy will be strong enough for t rigs and jigs if it fishes more like a medium. So i just need an answer on whether or not i should get a medium heavy and it will be fine or get a heavy because i need strength on those t rigs and jigs? Also I am not throwing directly into grass but in most of the places i fish there are lots of pads and grass that fish will get themselves into when being reeled in so I might need the heavy for that. Thanks, Harrison ? *the bold and underlined part is my main question, the other parts are information that someone might need to answer it. Maybe not though*
  18. Sorry I haven't been active pretty much since I posted this. Thanks for the info, do you use any for jigs and t rigs?
  19. I have been looking at getting a do it all rod that is less than $200, this rod would be a 7'2"-7'5" MH Mod Fast or Fast action rod. I've looked at the Shimano Curado rods, Dobyns Sierra, and Daiwa Tatula elite. The 6th Sense Lux rods just came out and I am very interested in those. I really love 6th Sense baits and when I heard these rods were coming I wasn't too sure about them because 6th Sense has been a bait company so far. Has anybody had any experience with the Lux series? I personally think the all black looks a little boring, but I'm still interested in them. Thanks to anyone who gives their thought on these rods. ~Harrison
  20. This post was a while ago, but I'm hoping you see that I quoted you. I just want to know what model Phenix feather you got and if you still like it? Is the taper and power what they say?
  21. Great choice! Your going to love it! Good luck... tight lines!
  22. I was the one that mentioned the Okuma Scott Martin TCS rods origianlly yesterday. Sorry I didn't respond very fast. The helios rods are nice but they are $30 more expensive and the TCS rods can be found on Amazon for $105-$110. So even if you looked at the helios rods on Walmart Online, they would still be more expensive. I personally think that the TCS rods look better, that little bit of cork with the eva look is nice. And the reel seat is very comfortable IMO. I hope this helps you! And the black and gold Tatula rod would be a great choice too, especially to go along with the SV TW.
  23. There is also a 7'6" model, which is a lot longer than what you wanted but it will be better for punching. Might be a bit long for a frog rod tho, so the 7'3" or that 7'4" mojo would be good probably.
  24. If you can go up to a 7'3", I would go with the Okuma Scott Martin TCS rods. I got my last fall for my birthday and an extremely nice rod. Plus its 140 but can be found for 110 on Amazon, its a steal really. Thats where I got mine from and it came perfectly fine with all the guides lined up correctly. If you want more input, look at the reviews on TW. And aesthetically it looks amazing!
