Tiller engine question...cart??
I am an avid member of a boat restoration forum. From what I have picked up from there, is that it should work - the transom height measurements are approximate, and you just may need to trim it differently. It should work.

Why pros don't use live bait?
Well, they aren't allowed to in tourneys. But, in Bassmaster, a kid asked uncle homer if artificial works better, and Homer said that in the majority of instances, live will outfish anything else. But, most of us are still too stubborn to use the tried and true method.

I need help!
Yesterday, I went on my first bass fishing trip since October. First winter bass trip. Dad and I took the 12 foot Vee up to the reregulation lake below the dam to Carters lake. It was windier than heck, and we had 1 1/2 foot swells and whitecaps in the middle. We had waves coming over the bow and were barely making headway going into the wind, and could not maintain a course any other way. We tried carolina rigging some main points but it was so windy we couldn't cast straight, let alone keep the boat in the same spot long enough to make a cast. So, we spent most of the time in a very sheltered LOOOONG cove that was an old river channel. The water was almost like glass, but it was not deep enough for anything this time of year. Anyway, the wind was the main reason that nobody caught anything. Well, all the time I was thinking about how I should fish were there not much wind. I realized that I knew a LOT less than I thought I did. I know yall are going to say just keep reading online here, but I have been doing that since about August, and thought I knew what I actually didn't. I also know yall are gonna say practice, practice and more practice, but that is impractical right now. I will be lucky to get out once more before the main spawn starts. All that being said, what tips are yall going to give me. Lets pretend that all I know about winter bass is they would rather stay deep. What kind of cover/structure should I target and what should I use? My fish finder should arrive within a week or so, if all goes to plan, so I will be able to look for better structure.

What was your strangest catch?
We were trout fishing once and dad caught a coleman lantern. The ironic thing is we salvaged a piece off of it to fix ours that broke that morning. I caught a bath mat a different time while trout fishing.

Spring strategies
Anyone? I am leaving early tomorrow and would like to know how I should use a search bait. Never dawned on me to do it before and now is a good time to start.

Spring strategies
A question with working with a buzzer. I am taking my first trip of the year tomorrow. How would I search with the buzzer? Would I work around the perimeter of the lake with it until I find fish? In the past, I have only caught fish on buzzers when I know the fish are there.

Shoreline Fishermen, Storing your baits?
Back in my shoreline fishing days(they ended a couple weeks ago) I had a box that had 3 trays and a large compartment up top. This worked well for short hops, but I found I was taking 2 of the trays and bags of plastics in my backpack. I would really recommend the BPS tackle bag.

May as well make this a little more descriptive. Name: Dawson Occupation: 8th grade student Location: Cartersville Ga. Age: 13 (14 on Mar. 15) Rather tall and skinny for my age. 6'1"+ and only about 125 lbs. Hobbies: bass fishing, boating, boat restoration, shooting, archery, making stuff (welding etc. Just about anything in the woodshop or working with metal) splitting firewood, working outside (unless it has to do with vines) Probably more. Cannot think of it right now as I am half asleep.

Need help with jigs.
As most of you know by now, I am a 13 yr. old (14 next month) angler in GA. I am trying to do a lot of research right now since I don't get much fishing time. I need help with jigs. I bought a lot of 10 on ebay last month, but haven't had any clue on how and when I am going to fish them. Trailers are confusing me to. I have heard about real pork, and plastic pork and such, but am clueless.

Dumb Trolling Motor Questions
Here is a link for turning the head around. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1169146061 To move the shaft up and down, there should be a clamp with a kneural nut above the transom clamp. The shaft can only as far down as the clamp. Just loosen the clamp and slide the shaft down.

What's your phobia.
To make matters worse, I have bad allergies this time of year. The constant dust from the saw and chipper didn't help. I now fear the stupid things. And we have them all around. Some are decorational but I still HATE them.
-
What's your phobia.
Thought I would bring this to the top because I found my true phobia today. VINES. Holy crap. Those things are downright deadly. Mom has been wanting some raised bed gardens in the backyard. So, dad and I were trying to clean out brush and fallen trees from the woods. Other than that it is a clearing. We also decided that a couple trees need to go to get better light. The trees are encrusted in vines - some of which are SIX inches in diameter. To make matters worse, the tree is leaning toward neighbors property. So we pull out the trusty rope bag and use a winch to yank the tree toward us. Cut it, and the tree is still standing. Tied to other trees with VINES. Reattache winch to bottom of tree and try to pull it out from underneath. Nope. Wont move. Cut the trunk off on 6 foot sections from the bottom up. Attached the rope from the tangled mess of the top of the tree to the truck and pulled. 1 1/4 inch rope snapped after stalling the truck twice. Two and a half hours to get one tree down. Turns out the vines had killed the tree. Had killed other trees as well but they weren't so entangled so they didn't fight. Still have about 3 dead trees we cannot remove w/o a bucket truck, which we don't have sitting in the workshop. The vines run in a grid under the leaves. Each one about a quarter inch in diameter and about six inches apart. Grab onto any foot or wheelbarrow or anything else that goes past it. To green to cut, and to strong to break. We have a chipper/shredder that we have been running some of the vines and brush through. Have about 12 wheelbarrow loads of mulch and took one fully loaded pickup to the dump, and still can't tell we even started. The VINES have latched onto every thing. And there was a lot of deadfall back there, and the previous owners of the house dumped every bit of yard waste they had back there. And the vines took over all of it. What was supposed to be a half days work building some raised beds have turned into 2 long days of VINES. Haven't even touched the stack of crossties yet. Mom owes me a lot of fishing time for this. 'specially since we are nowhere near done. looks to be another full days work before we even start on the crossties. And she wants 3 beds that use between 8 and 12 apiece. and the suckers weigh about 250 lbs apiece. > > > > > >

Tackle you do not use but bring anyway??
As a 13 yr. old, I don't have that much tackle. But, I have enough. I have 3 360 boxes in a container with a huge top compartment. It is full of plastics. (I went on a buying spree) Because I am 13, my dad has to take me. But unfortunately, his tight schedule doesn't allow me to go that much. Once a month if I am REEL lucky. Once every 2 1/2 is more like it. So, to make best of my time, I usually just use a T-rigged senko or 3x lizard. Yet I still carry those stupid cranks and jigs, even though I cannot catch anything on them, and the spinners/buzzers even though they only get used in the summer and fall.

Trolling Motor Mounts
Make a bracket that goes over the the gunnel and bolts to it. Have a vertical piece stick off to the side of the boat that the motor attaches to. Loosen the bolt holding the TM shaft and spin it around so it is a bow mount. Make sure you get a long shaft. It takes more length than many would think. I know this sounds kinda vague, but it is the best I can do at the moment.

What hooks do yall use for plastics?
As many of yall know, I am a 13 yr old angler in Ga. My go to bait has to be soft plastics. Especially texas rigged Senko knockoffs. Untill very recently I have been buying what I need for a particular fishing trip, and nothing else. So all I have had are a 100 pack of 1/0 Mustad worm hooks. Now I am trying to stock up on stuff. What hooks do yall use - that I can get rather cheap?
