  1. No, the forum is acting stupid and he is accidentally been declared an "ex member"
  2. A while back, MK made a transom powerdrive. Course this was back when they still had SS shafts, and I have only seen ones less than 30 # of thrust. Not that you would want this, but the MK Edrive has console steering. You could be the only canoe with remote steering. Maybe you could patent it.
  3. What part of GA ya from? Up here at Allatoona, I hear they are busting different pearl shades of senkos.
  4. Let me get this straight. From the pictures, it looks to be a very flexible tube, made by GYCB. Am I right?
  5. I thought LBH started playing with peoples names again. ;D
  6. What is a fluke/superfluke? I searched for it on the BPS website but couldn't find it. What trade names is it under?
  7. I fish from boats mostly, (that is when I actually get a chance to fish. This is tedious) but when in small ponds, or if I went out of town with boy scouts when I can't take the boat, I am limited to the banks.
  8. I learned on spinning rods, where the handle is standard on the left. Now, I ordered my baitcaster with a LH retrieve. The switching hands doesn't work for me. It always seemed, that when I switched hands, the spool would unwind before I could click it in place.
  9. forums.iboats.com It is a great boat and motor maintenance and restoration and just about anything boating related. Even has many boat mechanics who patrol there regularly. You will get all the help you need there.
  10. How do you slam a lipless crank into cover? And also, if I were to buy a couple (of any cranks, not just lipless) which should I buy? I was thinking some Manns minuses and norman flat A's or B's and rattletraps. What colors? I heard one natural and one shocker. I hear for naturals go with crawfish or shad. For shockers go with chartruese or firetiger. I have never caught anything on a crank, but then again I only have 4. 2 of which I bought real recently. Am I missing anything?
  11. 1000? So that means he got the boat + motor + trailer for 400, as opposed to just the boat? One lucky duck.
  12. I remember mine. I was nine, and had recently joined cub scouts. After my first time camping with them, I liked it. Well, in March, dad took me up to lake Winfield Scott to go camping. He decided to see how I liked fishing. So he bought me a Zebco 20/10 spincast combo and a few hooks bobbers and sinkers. He had his old folding travel rod from his motorcycle days, when he would spend a weekend up in the mountains tearing up the twisty roads at 150 mph. We also split an old telescopic cane pole. It was drizzly all weekend and it was about 2 weeks before they stocked trout. The bream there are to stubborn to bite even though we could see them. You drop the worm next to the dock and the bream would circle it but never eat it. The bass there are all in the 5 pound range but hard to catch. (Getting one this summer) We almost caught a little bream but it fell off while lifting it to the dock. Yet I still loved it. So, we went and tried to fish in our local lake (allatoona) and I was determined to throw a little rapala crank even though dad was using worms. (So thats where learned to like bass fishing) Neither of us caught anything due to the lack of cover of the cove we were fishing. Finally, after about 2 months, did I catch a fish. Or two. We went to an old farm pond that the owners will let you fish on for free. Just if you catch a cat, you have to keep it, and pay by the pound. But there were bream and bass stocked to, that you could do what you want with. Finally after dad and our foster kid at the time caught about 20 bream, I caught one. Then another. But I still to this day want to know why they caught about 30, and me 2. I was fishing the same place as them with the same bait set at the same depth. But for some odd reason, after 2 months of no catchy, I still loved it.
  13. That is the one thing I hate about tourneys. It is okay if it is a small club tourney where they take a pic with a fish on a digital scale then release it, but it doesn't seem right in a tourney with a weigh in.
  14. LEARN TO CATCH FISH! I seem to be failing at that right now. Part of it could be my lack of on the water time. I went bass fishing at the end of October then last Sunday. I managed to get in about an hour on the flats when my Boy Scout troop went to Jekyll for a weekend, but I rather catch bass, so that don't count. Caught a 1lber in oct. but nothing Sunday. I only seem to be able to catch bass in small ponds anyway. Sooner or later I will find fish if I cover the whole thing. But in a large lake, it ain't happenin'. I also want to learn to fish jig and pigs, topwaters and jerkbaits. I also want to get some confidence in cranks. I think I have the skill but no confidence. I only have confidence in T-rigged senko knockoffs and spinner/buzzers and even then, I don't have much confidence. My main thing though, is to get more on the water time.
  15. Nope, can't be rednecks. We don't know how to act if there is ice on the water. 'Round here, the water don't never freeze up.
  16. My grandma went through this last summer. Even though she is fine, the chemo and radiation were he!!. She was feeling horrible for months. And, having to move, 4 weeks after all that didn't help.
  17. 93% dixie. My mom grew up in many places throughout GA. Much of it in S. GA. Dad was born and raised in ATL. If someone were to say I was raised in a barn with chickens nesting on the back porch it would be 100% true. (thats another story. Just ask) 3 years back, we moved to the city, and I hate it here. 1 1/2 acres is nowhere near enough for me.
  18. Dang what a great deal. Our 1997 12 foot vee and 1988 4 horse e'rude with 1997 trailer for a 16 - 17 foot jon cost 500 and we thought we had died and gone to heaven. We ended up selling the trailer for 325, and the total cost for the one we fixed up from the 1950's cost us about 250.
  19. Is that a 16 foot 1980s tracker? The interior framing looks similar to all that I have seen. What HP is that nissan on the back? How much did the whole thing cost, because even though the boat was 400 (which ain't bad for a stripped aluminum hull) the interior gets expensive. My Lund, which had an interior that needed to be completely gutted, cost only 600, then another 600 for a 1971 50 horse Johnny (a little steep. We were clueless when we bought it) Then about 600 - 700 for a trailer, in which we welded ourself so we only bought parts. Then 250 for 3 sheets of marine plywood. Plus 200 for flotation foam. also gas tanks bilge pumps batteries trolling motors, wiring, lights, gauges, the list goes on... More than it looks from the start. Plus lots of time. Yalls, didn't look as expensive as mine, but still costs more than many would think. Many people have started a project, thinking it will save them money, but have gone bankrupt, and it sits for years, ruining the work they had done. Sorry to ramble, I'm bored.
  20. I have heard good things about the MK edge. I personally want a powerdrive with universal sonar. Just got to keep the PD foot pedal out of the weather.
  21. Check ebay. The Motorguide gator mounts were never any good, and kept dying, so people often are selling just the motor and control. Have some MKs, but mostly MGs.
  22. Sometimes longer than that. My dad is the the foreign car repair business (yet we drive all chevys ) and he has to deal with people (he is the manager) who are trying to fix their ancient BMW because they have a low credit score, and still, after 15 yrs. they owe more than the car was worth when new. So they cannot buy another car for years. Or, they have payments on two or 3 cars, of which they still own 1. The others have been sold, and yet they are still paying off the loan. It is crazy, and yet, they spend a whole bunch of money on a car that has more problems than a pinto. NOTHING is cheap to fix on that crap.
  23. NEVER buy a used boat/car etc. My dad has been preaching this for me for a while now. Things like that depreciate in value faster than functionability. Did you know, the average millionaire drives a four year old car, that he bought when it was 2 years old. There is NO reason to buy a new car/boat. Yet, there will still be people who don't have the brains to buy a slightly used one for half the price.
  24. It may be the shape of your boat. It may be curving it, and that would actually help support it in more places than just where it would on a straight board.
  25. With proper care, that old Johnny will outlive ya. Also, being a mod V, it may or may not be welded. There is nothing wrong with riveted, in fact, we prefer them. After all, aircraft are not welded, and aircraft and boats tend to have similar stress points and such.
