  1. Cabelas and BPS sells this stuff call TUFF COAT. We have put it in the Lund we are restoring, and although the boat hasn't seen water yet, we seem to like it. May want to look into it.
  2. A lot of times it is easier to put the trailer on blocks and work on it that way. Usually more stable. But, if you need to put it on blocks, just about any place that sells utility trailers will give you foam blocks for free. They are just the right size for putting boats on. In fact, we have a boat on blocks right now.
  3. Their ain't no way I can contribute by buying at a store? Only online? In 2 days, we are going to the BPS in Sevierville TN. Trust me, a couple of the sponsors will be getting service when I get home, but I have been out of town the past 4 weeks, and need this stuff next week, and didn't have time for an order to be shipped in the time I was home. I wish I could, as some of it is cheaper than BPS, with shipping included. I can get Gamakatsu hooks cheaper from JBC, and have them shipped, than I could get them from a BPS store, unless they are on sale.
  4. You gonna be doin' much fishing on the Dead Sea? (Allatoona for yall nonlocals.)
  5. He!! No. Don't cut out the bow of that boat. That boat is a beautiful classic. It never was meant to be a bass boat. You wouldn't be restoring it - moreso trashing it. Fix that to original condition. Don't do like too many others do. Not every boat is ideal to make a floating casting deck. Yours certainly ain't.
  6. Don't destroy it. I hate it when people destroy classic beauties like yours to make a bass boat.
  7. Some guys would want you to restore it to original condition. Personally, I would make it how you want it, but don't do anything permanent, so when you go to sell it, you gut it and restore it, as opposed to modernizing it. In 40 years, if I ever decide to sell the Lund fish n ski we are restoring, I will remove everything, and make it as original as possible.
  8. Round here, we don't have any vegetation in our lakes, much less lily pad. But, I am probably gonna be fishing a pond next week in NC, where the only visible cover is lily pads (Shore fishing, no sonar). What on earth should I throw in that mess? Thanks yall.
  9. We have the spinning version of that. Dad used to use it back in the days when he used to run performance motorcycles through the twisty mountain roads, and about 115 mph. Nothing like a mess of bream to finish out a day of riding. The thing is just collecting dust in the closet, and the reel is worn out.

I cannot tell ya about the bugs, but I can say, you need to switch to using bleach to chlorinate. Go to poolsolutions.com and look around. They sell a test kit that will allow you to use bleach to chlorinate. Stays balanced better than pool chlorine, and is CHEAPER. Best thing we did with the pool, aside from selling the house that it was at.
  11. Our cousin owns a vacation house up in Newland, which is right near their, and we go there from time to time. In fact, we are leaving to go their Sunday. If ya ever go back, you HAVE to venture into Newland and eat at Fabio's restaurant. Absolute BEST Italian food, and considering my granddad was Italian, and brought recipes through Ellis island with him, that is saying something.
  12. As with you, I don't think that they mean to be mean. As for not seeing facial expression/ hearing tone, I think that is just accidental. I have tried a few times, and what is extremely funny when said in a sarcastic voice, can make one sound like a complete buttwad on paper (or computer screen). I thought I had screwed myself on the BBC a few times. I think these people are just trying to pull a Muddy or Avid, or are just mooks and don't know it, and just lack the ability to express humor on paper. Hence why I don't use humor as much, 'specially on the BBC, as they don't take it as humor as I am (as far as I know) the youngest one on there. It don't matter how many smilies I use, they take it seriously. On here, the group is much better, and wont tear you apart for misunderstood humor from a youngun, as there are more of us. But to sum it up, many are pulling a mook move, and are reproached for it, due to post count and such. Just my 5 cents worth. (Inflation)
  13. Now, how old is you? I have not yet found anyone to even want their grass cut. Or spread mulch or nothing. I would LOVE to get a job playing with fishing stuff. Course, my scouting schedule is kinda rough for a standard hours job, but I could most definitely work something out.
  14. Ya know, there is a redneck joke in thar somewhere.
  15. Yep, just keep a pair of needlenose plyers in the shower. To be honest with ya, I do. I was raised on a farm, and commonly come in with 'bout 4 or 5. Just got used to keepin' a set of plyers on the shower.
  16. Hey nick, I don't think that said mount is sold commercially these days. Outsourced by the new plastic ones. But, they show up on ebay from time to time. Check there.
  17. Here is what I did to mount a trolling motor to my 12 foot Grumman vee. The TM is a 50 pound thrust Minn Kota powerdrive. First of all, my boat has a handle up front, and we used that to our advantage. You can see said handle in this pic. Now, we used some stock aluminum with an end view of this. We find this aluminum very useful as a 5/16 bolt fits in the track, and can slide until you tighten it to make it adjustable. Now, we cut the aluminum at the same angle as the bottom of the gunwale lip. We ran a 5/16 (1/2 inch head) bolt down and used a nyloc nut. The handle in the front of the boat, keeps the mount from sliding to the front. The widening vee of the boat keeps it from sliding back. This rig is gonna have a few modifications in the future. Right now, the TM is not exactly level in the water. So, we are gonna space up the back, by having a piece of the same aluminum that goes above and below the gunwale, and has a cutout for the lip. See crude drawing.
  18. We had an ingenious method that works especially well for jons and vees, and requires NO DRILLING! It is removable with a 9/16" wrench, or if you replaced the nuts with kneural knobs, it would be completely removable. I have been meaning to borrow dads digital camera, but I keep forgetting. Maybe tomorrow, yall will see what I am talking about.
  19. What!!?? No pics??!!
  20. We wouldn't get up to change the channel, but thank nothing of getting up and spending 2 hours searching for the da** remote.
  21. sssshhhhh! don't tell the gf.
  22. I disagree with that a bit. Ya see, friends come and go, but you are stuck with your family. There ain't a thing you can do about it neither. Your first line of business should be to make your family proud. Then, you make your friends proud. Right now, you should do your ABSOLUTE BEST to make your family proud. That is the important thing. Someday, you will wish that you had done that, and you can't, cause granny don't live forever. Do it NOW, while you can, then work on your friends.
  23. This is kinda what I have started with the pinestraw. I do a few other jobs with other peoples yards as well. There are a few more people who are gonna hire me to do a portion of their yard, as the landscaper of one, "forgets" to do the yard on one side of the driveway. Another is just gonna hire me to do most of her yard work as she is just divorced with 4 kids, and cannot afford the prices of landscapers. This is a good start, and I already have a couple of people who pay me to do a good amount of their work. Hopefully, more people will see me, and be interested. This fall, after we deliver the straw, I am gonna go door to door to see who will pay me to spread it. I was gonna do it this spring, and figured I would give it a week and a half to see who wanted to spread it, and who didn't. It was all spread in that time, even the people who bought 200 bales. Next time, they aren't getting a chance to get it down themselves. I will hope to heck for a rainy day to go on, so people will not look forward to spreading it. To sell, you want a pretty day, where people will want to get out and work on the yard. When wanting to spread it, you hope for a rainy day so that people wont be keen to spreading it themselves.
  24. And it is "when" the seam leaks, and not "if" it leaks. I would definitely go with a 'loominum rig.
  25. Fishing from a kayak is impractical at best. Unless you are getting something like trout, and using the same lure and rod all day. I would say get a used canoe instead of a yak. Although, at the beach last year, we ran into a yak rental place, and they had some fishing yaks. better, had a place for a cooler, and some tackle. But, they still didn't seem to be adequate for bass fishing. Get a canoe, or an old beat up jon. Much better IMHO.
