  1. This should help, the spool is a part of the reel, it holds the line whereas the reel is the whole thing. The line goes on the spool of a reel. Do yo want fishing line or a fishing reel?
  2. I have a Scheel’s Outfitters Rod and I really like it, the lure rating is 3/16 to 5/8 oz which is perfect to me. It was $40.
  3. Which Dobyns Fury Model are you looking at?
  4. I played with one in store and it wasn’t smooth at all, felt like low quality bearings. Are the centrifugal brakes off?
  5. There are a few options, check out this website. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Reels_Casting/catpage-RLCSHIMANO.html
  6. The bait monkey is a vicious, little guy that likes to attack us when we walk into anywhere that sells fishing supplies. Walk in to buy hooks, come out with a new rod, reel, a whole new tackle box, 4 packages of every color of Senkos, a handful of jigs and some more soft plastics you’ve been “needing” along with a few more hard baits that were “too good to pass up”... then you forget the hooks you originally walked in for and the horrific cycle begins.
  7. I was thinking that too, the reel doesn’t matter much and I’d focus more on the rod. I know I saw someone with a Curado K frog reel, large spool, lots of capacity, mine holds 80 yards of 65 lb braid.
  8. You won’t get much torque from a high gear ratio and a longer handle won’t help.
  9. I caught way too many fish on a wacky rigged yum dinger last year. Just cast out, let it sink and then jerk your rod up.
  10. I picked one up today too, I’m going to probably go with a MH moderate fast. I’m going to fish the same stuff you are. Someone told me their MHMF Bass X rod worked well with cranks and still had enough of a hook set for jigs. Hope this helps.
  11. Thank you
  12. Anyone tried their lures? Are they worth it?
  13. I’ll definitely try that! Thank you.
  14. I fish a couple ponds with mostly smallies, why do you consider the red trebles to be an upgrade? Nice video!
  15. Why no savage gear products? Any you would recommend? Are those red treble hooks standard?
  16. That’s achieved with the rod. Longer rod, more distance. More weight, more distance. The reel plays a small part. The higher end of your lure rating will cast best. I’d choose whichever feels best to you.
  17. I wasn’t planning on buying the most expensive lure, I’m going to have different colors of different lures but not different colors of the same lure.
  18. It does if I’m going to try one, I think you misunderstood me, I’m not going to buy multiple colors of a single lure or multiple colors of a $20 lure.
  19. Are you looking to switch to spinning? What’s your price range? There are 2 piece rods that are available, so you can fit longer rods in your car. I don’t pre tie my rigs. 6’6” is a good length.
  20. I’m just starting out, my tackle box mostly has frogs and soft baits. I won’t be buying multiple colors of anything, let alone a $20 lure.
  21. Vision 110
  22. What line do you fish it on?
