Recommendation for an Inshore bait caster reel
That’s the only thing I’ve heard slightly bad about the Curado K, is that it doesn’t handle salt well. You could get the Z, a Lew’s(Not as smooth as the Curado), or Curado K.

Best lures for extremely heavy cover?
It’s not lily pads, it’s thick moss.

NEW to baitcasting
Don’t put fluorocarbon on. Put heavy mono on. 17# Big Game is a good choice. Since you’re new you want thick line since it’s harder to backlash and easier to unpick. As for lures, that’s up to you, worms, topwaters, whatever you want to use. We can’t tell you what to use without conditions. Do you know how to use a baitcaster?

Best lures for extremely heavy cover?
That toad idea is pretty good, I usually look over them and I’ve been meaning to pick up some bass tubes.

Best lures for extremely heavy cover?
I have not a clue what is under the weeds, the ponds has moss, duckweed and algae. I fished it once and haven’t been back. Ducks definitely couldn’t walk on the top. I fish in ponds that have hardly any moss at all so my extreme is heavy. I didnt have any baits for heavy so I just needed ideas.

Best lures for extremely heavy cover?
Is this a question or an answer? (The pond is really thick on top with a few holes and it’s pretty thick underneath)

Shimano Reel Repair Question
I wanted to know if others had experienced the same thing. Most companies email you when they receive your reel. $200 for a reel is not cheap. I didn’t want or expect an update... Thanks for your “help”.

Shimano Reel Repair Question
I sent a Curado K in for reel repair since it was making a noise, it was under warranty. It was delivered on Friday and I haven’t heard anything back, should I be worried?

Best lures for extremely heavy cover?
Oh shoot, how’d you know I have a MH spinning rod??

Best lures for extremely heavy cover?
This pond is almost too thick to fish moving baits. Frogs are over fished so I’m thinking heavy jigs and flipping. That’s really all I can think of. This moss is almost covering the entire top of the pond. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits aren’t really an option. I might try some weedless rigged plastics. Any thoughts?

What would you use this rod for?
I’d use it for beetle spins, spinnerbaits, treble hook lures. Do you have a reel for it?

Versatile heavy rod
Dobyns Fury 734C http://dobynsrods.com/rod/fr-734c/ Dobyns Fury 735C http://dobynsrods.com/rod/fr-735c/ I’d go with the Casitas over the Caenan, it has the better braking system and it’s lighter. Just wondering, why would you want 40-50 lb braid in not heavy cover? Is it to avoid it digging in?

Crankbait rod and reel
Lew’s has a $100 rod and reel combo, called David Fritts Crankback Baitcast Combo. I don’t think it would be that bad. https://www.lews.com/combos/frittscb

Two all around baitcasters
6.3:1 would be good for everything. You could slow down and use it for crankbaits or speed up and use it for spinnerbaits. The rods you plan on buying sound like good all around rods as well. A 5.4:1 gear ratio is typically for slower baits or crankbaits while higher gear ratios like 7.1:1 are used for burning spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I’d get the 6.3:1 and try out a bunch of techniques then decide on the other baitcaster.

First baitcasting reel since a green Curado
Lew’s are good reels, they gave Shimano a run for their money so they came out with the Curado K. They do have great customer service, although it’s slow. They do lie about their drags on the website, go to the reel schematics to see the real reel’s drag. I’d buy a Lew’s for salt, I’ve heard stay away from their rods though.

First baitcasting reel since a green Curado
I picked up a Lew’s Custom Speed Spool (10 bearings), and it wasn’t as smooth as the Curado K (7 bearings). I’d say Shimano uses a higher rated ABEC bearing. The Curado K is kind of heavy, like 8 ounces. Do you know what kind of brakes you want?

Reel Suggestions/input
I haven’t heard a bad thing about the new Curado but it’s quite heavy for a small reel. Also, sounds like you’re deadset on Daiwa. I don’t know enough about their lineups besides stay away from the Lexas, and for that reason, I’m out. Best of luck!

Best time to get sales
When’s the most stuff like rods, reels, line, and tackle on sale? All the major companies such as Cabela’s, Bass Pro, TW, Scheel’s...

Bag vs box soft plastics
I leave them in their original bags, I like to fish more than organize. Plus some plastics dry up or lose their scent, like Yum flukes. I left a fluke in my tackle box and it shriveled up and turned hard. I go through Senkos faster than I could ever organize them.
