Which NRX
My fishing partner just won a sizable chunk of change in fantasy football and has decided to finally scratch the NRX itch (I'm just as excited as he is)?. I have a lot more and nicer gear than he does so he is consulting me for my opinion on which model. Baitcast rod will be used mostly for texas rig soft plastics. 1/4oz to 3/8oz weight plus soft plastic. We fish the Alabama River moderate to fairly heavy cover at times. What ya enthusiasts recommend?

Shimano Expride what reel?
Just got my Shimano Expride in the other day. Its the 7'2" mh. Gonna use it mostly for 3/8-1/2 oz jigs. Close quarters pitching. What reel are you guys running on that rod? I have a Curado K that is going on her for the time being. May end up being permanent, may not be. Whats the best one as far as balance and comfortably in you guys opinion?

Sneaky sneaky Daiwa

Jig rod decisions.......which one??
Vary rarely use the 1/4oz but i do use it. I would say 85 to 90% is with 3/8 and 1/2oz. Mainly concerned about how well it balances (match the right reel i know) in the hand and how comfortable the reel seats are. I feel like both will be plenty sensitive and light. Length is right for what im look for on both. 7'1" fmj and 7'2" expride. Wanting on the shorter end of 7ft so the both check off that box. Even if i decided on the expride i dnt have a clue as to when I could get my hands on one. They stay sold out. If you could only keep one........which one would you keep and why?

Stix Rods
All i meant was the brand isn't just sime sponsor cutting him a check. Its his own actual rod company. He started, designed and built the rods. I completely agree with you and see where you are coming from. I just feel its a little different promoting a brand for a paycheck vs your own brand and livelihood. ?♂️?♂️

Jig rod decisions.......which one??
Looking to get a dedicated jig rod. 1/4-1/2 oz jig plus trailer. Mostly pitching lay downs and weed lines in the Alabama river. Close quarters combat rarely anything deeper than say 15ft. Believe im narrowed down to the Megabass FMJ or the Shimano Expride A 7'2" mh. Input, opinions, recommendations..........pros and cons of each. Hit me with ALL THE KNOWLEDGE lol!!!! Thanks in advance guys.

Stix Rods
Nick actually is part owner of the company i believe. He had tons of input into the rod builds, characteristics, lengths, actions and such. Could be decent rods. I doubt he would put his name and reputation on a bunch of junk sticks.......pun intended lol.

Best Rod Sleeve/Sock?
I make my own. You can buy 100 ft roll of the sleeve material on ebay for around $25. A little heat shrink and a soldering iron to cut them with and ur in business. Cheaper and as many as i lose flying down the river every year it helps to know it was cheap and i can make another one when I get back home.

T-Rig | Worm Sliding Down The Hook
Thread the worm on the hook like you normally would but before you stick the point back through the body of the worm, slide the rubber backing on the hook. Slide it all the up until it is against the worm near the eye of the hook. Then finish rigging through the body as usual.

T-Rig | Worm Sliding Down The Hook
Go to walmart and buy a pack of the rubber earring backings. Cheap, clear and easy on and off.

Flipping switch
Looking for any info and input on reels you would recommend that has a flipping switch. I have a Dobyns Champ Extreme 795 that has a Curado K mounted on it now, but am entertaining the idea of buying a dedicated flipping reel with flipping switch for it. Im not brand specific or loyal. Just want on that works and is fun to fish with. What can ya tell me. Price doesnt matter. And............GO!!

Bps speed shad vs Keitech
Was wondering how the Bass Pro speed shad stacks up against the Keitech Swing Impact Fat in terms of swimming action, head roll and tail thump. The Strike King version seems to be a much thicker and stiffer plastic and doesn't have as much tail thump in my opinion as the keitech. Anyways, got some bps gift cards for Christmas and was wondering if they performed like the Keitech, better or worse. Thanks guys. Any input on the Jackall rhythm wave and Biospawn exoswim is welcomed also.

Prop pitch should i look at changing
Yeah i did forget to mention that the cavitation plate is bent pretty goon on the left side. Runs true dead straight and making right hand turns but at WOT absolutely any movement or even notion that your gonna make a left hand turn and it starts. Which im in the process of having that issue repaired today or tomorrow. Hydraulic steering

Prop pitch should i look at changing
Never paid much attention because once its over trimmed it almost immediately starts wanting to chine walk. Gonna get a baseline measurement then go from there.

Prop pitch should i look at changing
Yeah he said to keep a check on my water pressure. Ideal is around 15 to 18. Any higher then the foot is too low any lower its too high and sucking air. Hopefully after i set it to the right height ill see the gains i should.

Prop pitch should i look at changing
Wot rpm is around 5700-5800. Gets on plane very quick. Had it serviced 2 moths ago. All compression was exactly where they said it should be. Heck it only has 132 hours on it. Talked to a guy at triton customer service and he said the 23 was as much prop as he recommended. Said it sounded like the prop shaft height was too low in the water. Told me to it should be around 2 1/2 and 2 3/4 below pad. Should easily push that boat in the 64-66 range with everything set correctly. Now just for some time off to go tinker with it lol!

Prop pitch should i look at changing
I own a 2009 Triton 18HP Explorer. Its 18.6 ft long and has a Merc Optimax 150. Im the third owner of the boat and know both of the previous owners however there is a little discrepancy in some information i have tried to find out. I actually fished out of the boat with both owners at one time or another before i bought it myself. The original owner was able to achieve around 66 mph at WOT but second owner only around 59-60. Second owner put on a jackplate, first guy ran it without. I have only been able to see 60 on gps. I feel strongly that the jackplate isnt set at the correct height which i will look into. However the original owner doesn't remember what pitch prop was on the boat and the second owner immediately swapped the prop that was on it for a tempest 3 blade 23 pitch before he had even taken it to the water. He traded the original prop and can't recall what it was either. Should i consider looking at a 3 blade 24 pitch for increased top speed ?

Triton 18HP
2009 Triton 18HP and basically all of the weather stripping on the rod lockers, bait compartments and everything has worn off. Ive tried the cheap peel and stick from Marvins......no go. Even tried to hot glue it down to no avail. And ideas or know of a quality waterproof stripping that will go on and stay on? Tired of my compartments filling with water. Building a shed in the near future but would still like to replace the strips. Thanks guys

Standup Shaky head recommendations?
The owner ultra head are nice as are the owner football head. However i find the football head tend to hang up more often. They are not the most expensive but can add up when you lose as many as i can lose. The hooks are very sharp and light wire plus the fact that most tend to throw them on light line i usually lean towards the nonfootball style. Good ole Buckeye Spot remover is a good one also. Cheap too.

Anyone here used the Megabass Robin Blade?

Reel on a crank bait rod
Think of it like this.........8 year old you is on your 10 speed mountain bike, the higher gears are just fine for riding along the neighborhood just shooting the breeze, but when it comes the time to climb the big a** hills to head off to the creek you will definitely start downshifting. All around easier on everything, gear, and your body. Also allows for the deeper cranks to stay in the strike zone longer.
