  3. I do have SI so i bought a Yak Attack Switchblade arm
  4. I've kept mine in Plano boxes for years with zero issues.
  5. Thanks for the link. I already have most of what I need to mount it. I'm more concerned with the best configuration.
  6. Thanks for info. Didn’t think about ease of using the unit. Mounted in front might prove to be difficult changing the screen., etc... Those guys are my favorite YouTube follows. Sorry for assuming everyone knows who they are. ?
  7. Bought a Helix 7 over the black friday BPS sale. Never used one before and can't wait to get on the water with it. Starting to look at where to mount it on my Tarpon 100 and am hoping to get your guys experienced advice. My two options: 1) NDYakAngler style. Front mount and I would use a transducer arm to the side of it. This gives me more flexibility with my track system and seems like it would be out of the way when netting a fish. Does the transducer being in front have much of an advantage? 2) Greg Blanchard style. Side mount with the transducer on the back track. Wondering if this ever gets in the way. Ayways, would love to hear your thoughts and experiences before I commit to a set up. Just don't want to make a mistake with my set up. Thank you!!!!
  8. I used to use the bitsy but switched to the Siebert Dredge Arky 1/8. The hook is 100xs better and the colors are great. Bitsy bug has limited colors.
  9. Thanks for the info. I believe we are staying on the Northern end of the lake so getting closer to the river should be easier. Thanks again!!
  10. Looking to book a week long father/son trip the last week in June and buddy found a place on this lake. Seems like a lot of species but don't know anything about it. Good? Bad? Pressured? We will not have a boat but will have kayaks. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
  11. Buddy of mine found a place on Castle Rock Lake. Any thoughts on the fishing there?
  12. All set with Capt Shane. Thx for the recs.
  13. I will be in Marco Island in late March/early April. My son and I would love to make the drive towards Miami in search of Peacock Bass. Being from Illinois we've never caught one. Any recommendations on a charter that can put us on fish would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!!
  14. Thanks for the info so far and sorry for the lack of details. * primarily bass fishing * looking for a wednesday - sunday in late June/early July * we do not have a boat BUT wll haul a couple of kayaks * there are 5 father/sons (age 14) and we ususally VRBO a house on a lake * ideally looking for something where we have lots of space as the boys still like to run around with air soft guns I've been researching and there are tons of lakes to consider. Ideally looking for the most active bass fishery.
  15. Like the title says, looking for a place to go in Wisconsin for a father/son fishing trip. Coming from outside Chicago and hoping to find something within a 6 hour drive. All thoughts are appreciated
  16. So after watching a bunch of YouTube videos I think I'm pretty set on setting this up. But I do have one question left. Is a 2 pole flat the best/ideal connection between the power cord and battery? Thanks for all the input guys. You've been great and I greatly appreciate it.
  17. Any recommendations on a 12v battery to run it?
  18. Ok. So explain to me like I'm a two year old as I have no understanding of this. Do I have to connect the Helix power cord to a fuse (any rating on the fuse) and then connect the fuse directly to battery? Or do I need to cut the power cord and connect the fuse in between each half? Thank you!!!!
  19. Thx gents. Appreciate it. @J Francho do you have your 7 connected to a 12v? If so, any specific way to hook it up? Just read something about connecting a fuse? What do you recommend? Thx again.
  20. I use 1/2 oz jigs most of the time. For dirty water I use Black/Blue. For clear I use Brown, Green Pumpkin or White. My trailers are normally a Rage Craw or Net Bait Paca Craw for less action. Sometimes I'll throw on a RI Beaver. Sometimes my trailers match, sometimes they don't. Most I often a use a green pumpkin trailer on a black and blue jig. Bottom line is there is no magic combination. Try different combinations and see what works.
  21. I've never used a fish finder on a kayak and plan on getting one for this Spring. BPS has a black friday sale on the 7" G2 for $399 (down from 699). That makes it less expensive than the Helix 5. Seems like a no brainer but not sure if I'll run into issues once installed. For context, I plan on installing it in the front panel between my feet on a Tarpon 100. Any thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  22. Is there a difference between using a split ring and swivel versus a snap swivel? I have a bunch of snap swivels laying around that I can use but if they fail compared to split rings I'll make the switch. Thanks!
  23. I use a regular Plano box and tie up the trebles with small rubber bands. You can get something like 500 for a few bucks at any craft store or Hobby Lobby. Never have an issue with trebles getting tangled.
  24. What knot did you use to tie the rope to the carabineer? I'm going to use an anchor knot to tie off the anchor itself but not sure about the carabineer. Thx!
  25. @Goose52just to confirm... the scale needs to be converted into ounces, correct? seems you have the option to weigh in ounces (which needs to be converted into pounds) or pounds (which weighs in tenths of a pound and needs to be converted into ounces), ie 4.67 on the scale is 4lbs, 10 ounces. Easy enough but want to make sure i'm not missing something. Thanks!!
