New Top Water You Want To Try ?
It's true. They get crushed.

Holy Mother of Vegetation
It's bad. It's pretty much a solid mat all throughout. Few holes as far as I could tell. Took away my style of fishing for the most part.

Holy Mother of Vegetation
Stopped by my favorite pond after work to discover that, in 2 days, it has become vegetation nation. Never been like this before. Weeds are popping right out of the water throughout. What to do? Weightless Senkos and Topwaters are now dead. Frogs and Texas Rigs?

Small pond, small LMB, small Spinnerbaits
This is not a good location for inlines. Too snaggy.

Small pond, small LMB, small Spinnerbaits
There's a little farm pond that I like to take my kids to. I'm sure there's one big mama in there somewhere, but we've only caught and seen bass 1-2 pounds and under. It's all bluegill and largemouth. The kids can't use a baitcaster yet. I usually have them throwing Senkos, but now I want to try them on Spinnerbaits. For bass this size in such a pond, will 3/16oz Spinnerbaits on M/F spinning gear with 8lb test be OK? I want them to be able to swap between the small Spinnerbaits and weightless worms and Senkos.

Keeping/framing a bass
I feel strongly about not keeping bass. I won't do it or fish with anyone who does. It's a moral thing for me. I love them. Of course I understand that keeping smaller bass can be good for a fishery and produce bigger bass, but I'm not going to be the guy that does it or fish with anyone else who does. Again, I feel strongly. Bias aside, replicas are better because it's still your bass, but it will last forever. No reason to kill the bass and get a product that will deteriorate rather than still virtually getting your bass and it lasting forever.

Need quick advice. 10 year old son and Smallies.
Ned was all that was needed. Really crazy when you think about it. Put me in a LMB pond or lake with some 5" Green Pumpkin Senkos and some 3/0 EWG and 1/0 wacky hooks and I really wouldn't need to change baits to have a good day. I'm new to the Ned Rig, but after an initial flop, I've had back to back days slaying SMB with them. So simple most of the time. Son darn near outfished me.

Improper placement for this thread, but I'm looking for quick replies. I'm taking my son to the river for Smallmouth fishing in a couple of hours. He's only ever fished for LMB in ponds and lakes. I'm thinking inline spinners and the Ned Rig. Jitterbug too. Anything else? I want him to have a good time. He's 10.

Hooking Yourself
Last year I narrowly escaped what could have been a really bad situation. It was very windy outside and so the wind tossed my lipless crankbait into the weeds. I tugged and tugged until it finally got free - but it snapped back at me and the lipless crankbait smacked me in the face just below my right eye. So much force that it left a bruise. Miraculously no hook got me, and thank God it missed my eye.

Hooking Yourself
I had a 3lb LMB put 3 out of 6 Whopper Plopper hooks deep into my hand. Didn't have pliers with me. Never again.

favorite pond goes from great fishing to really tough fishing
Same with my favorite pond. Everyone throws Senkos and Spinnerbaits. So now I'm using Trick Worms and small swimbaits with better results. Whopper Plopper is popular too, so now I'm using the Jitterbug. You have to change. Small ponds are no place to fool around. The bass get napalmed with the same things every day.

Berkley Lightning Rod Shock vs. Diawa Aird X Casting Rod
Loved the old Lightning Rod, and now I love the Shock Rod. Really great rods for the money.

The beautiful, frustrating, fascinating thing about our sport.
Caught 6 in under an hour yesterday. Caught 1 in 3 hours on a better weather day today. Neato!

Zoom Trick Worms - Probably a silly question...
I wacky rig too, but I inquired about Texas Rigging specifically for the reason I mentioned.

What is your state record LM?
13.1 pounds for Illinois. Couldn't find a photo but I didn't look too hard. I personally know a guy who caught a 12 pounder not too long ago. It can be broken.

Zoom Trick Worms - Probably a silly question...
I'm an EWG in almost all things kinda guy. Superb confidence in the hook and hookset that way. Also easy to change out most plastics with a 3/0 EWG. Hard pressed to find a more universal hook.

Zoom Trick Worms - Probably a silly question...
When you Texas Rig (weighted or weightless) a Trick Worm, is the hook point supposed to be on the top of the worm or is it supposed to be on the flat bottom part of the worm? I've never really known. I do it both ways and have caught a lot of fish both ways, but I've always wondered. If there is no wrong way, which one is the better way?

The 1,000,000th time this has been asked: Jigs
Sorry, this is probably a repetitive question on here, but alas, here goes... I want to do more jig fishing this year. They've always intimidated me so I've avoided them. My question is, what style of jig head do I use on rocky and sometimes sandy river bottom for dragging, and what style of jig head do I use to break through heavy grass? Also, what's a good starting point for jig head and trailer size for LMB in a grassy pond, and then for SMB in the rocky river? What should the trailer length generally be in comparison to the jig head size?

pet bass missing
I would put up fliers. Pray he didn't get hit by a car. Have you checked the animal shelter?
