How much does the lure have to be worth before you'll go swimming?
When I was a kid I swam in rivers for fun and still swim in lakes to this day so it's no different lol

What is your cut off point/price on rods and reels?
In times past, $200 on both ends, usually. Now, $100 on both ends.

I've climbed a tree for a Whopper Plopper so there's that.

One fishing line... FOREVER
One brand or one brand and one size of that brand? 6# YZH for spinning and 12# YZH for casting would be the best bet. I'd be perfectly happy with that.

How many “main” setups do you have?
I've had a new lady for 3 months and a better job than I had before. Life has been good to me. Good health too. Just a different perspective now on everything, even down to as something as small as fishing gear.

How many “main” setups do you have?
After falling ill most of last year, particularly the second half of the year, and my (soon to be ex) wife deciding to break our family apart, I sold a ton of stuff to get the funds to start a new life in another state. Expensive fishing gear was one of the things that needed to go. Now I have 6 setups, and they're budget options. The truth is, I've been happy, and I haven't noticed any significant difference. We'll see how everything holds up. I've had the Eagle rods and the Shock rod for awhile but they never really got the call as main, every day options until this season. The listed bait isn't what the setup is limited to, but what is usually tied on. Daiwa Aird-X 7' H/F Lew's Speed Spool 6.8:1 15LB Berkley Big Game Jigs Daiwa Aird-X 7' MH/F Lew's Speed Spool 6.8:1 12LB Berkley Big Game Texas Rigs Berkley Lightning Shock Rod 7' MH/F Abu Garcia Black Max 6.4:1 15LB Berkley Big Game Chatterbaits Fenwick Eagle 6'6" M/F Abu Garcia Silver Max 6.4:1 12LB Berkley Trilene Squarebills Daiwa Aird-X 7' M/F Daiwa Legalis 2500 6LB Yo-Zuri Hybrid Wacky Rigs Fenwick Eagle 6'6" M/F Pflueger President 30 8LB Berkley Trilene Ned Rigs The Shock had 30LB braid to a leader but I stripped it because I have a very hot and cold relationship with braid.

Who still uses nothing but mono?
I'm so back and forth on braid it's not even funny. Right now I'm running mostly Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Big Game.

Any hidden online gems can you recommend?
Whatever I can't find on TW, I can usually find on Fish USA.

Why are you not using a digital reel?
I've been hardcore bassing for over a decade and skipping is still not easy. I've never known of anyone who picked up on it as a novice. It takes time and practice.

MH rods that were actually more on the H side
A weak H is the same as a strong MH. Just to clear that up. I mentioned it because you can also look at H rods to achieve the same thing. Unless you get the SLX combo whenever they're like $130, I can't think of a combo in the $100-$150 price range that's going to give you a better rod than the Aird-X. It absolutely should not retail for $55. It's clearly a gift from Daiwa to introduce people to their products. @MNfisher @ww2farmer @MN Fisher

Dobyns Fury 4 power. It's listed as a H but it's more like a powerful MH. You don't have to only look for a strong MH; you can look for a weak H. A Daiwa Aird-X H is more like a powerful MH and it's $55.

Why are you not using a digital reel?
Because with a well trained thumb I can do anything a DC can with most other reels and more.

I've never had a break off go quite like this. Have you?
I did indeed keep it straight. Thanks for the link to the tool.

I've never had a break off go quite like this. Have you?
I usually do put my hand in my shirt and wrap the line and walk back. It wasn't working though and started to hurt my hand so I clamped down on the spool as hard as I could. Not really the point here though. My line somehow got completely embedded in the spool. No line end to put through the guides or tie something on and I couldn't pick it out. It was a glorious looking spool of line with no end lol

I've never had a break off go quite like this. Have you?
Yesterday my girlfriend got hung up on what I assume is a log. No big deal. It was 10lb line and I broke it off with ease. Later, since I'm intelligent, I hit the exact same log with a chatterbait and got hung up. It's a little harder to swallow losing a chatterbait and a trailer than it is a trick worm. After several minutes of trying and failing to get it back, I put my thumb tightly on the spool and started walking backwards until it broke off (15lb Big Game). When it finally did break off I was looking for the end of the line but it was nowhere to be found. Somehow it was in the spool. I never could locate the tag end or pick it out. I had an entire spool of line with no way to tie anything to it. Eventually I just cut it out respooled right there on the bank.

Moved from IL to IN in the spring. No idea where to fish.
I live in the Plainfield and Mooresville area just west of Indy. The only public ponds I know of are Sodalis Nature Preserve and Hummel Park. Sodalis is trash and Hummel isn't much better. They're also highly pressured. I know of the White River but I need to know about ponds. I'm not interested in lakes yet. I don't have my Yak over here so I'm bank bound. I don't fish lakes from the bank. Thanks for any help.

"All" purpose casting rod
7' MH/MF does a lot of things well. I disagree that a true F action rod is all purpose. Better yet is something in-between a MF and F.

Bait Caster for Finesse
Just saying, a 1/10oz Ned Head with a Finesse TRD really comes in at about 1/4oz.
-
Most effective river bait for quantity.
The Ned Rig by far. Z-Man TRD in either Coppertreuse or Green Pumpkin/Orange.

What rod and reel is this?
Purple is my favorite color so you could send me a TI ??

Are you a lefty or a righty?
On the SAME DAY less than a week ago I pointed out to my girlfriend a young guy reeling with a spinning reel upside down and a middle aged man fishing a buzzbait under water like a spinnerbait. She asked if I was going to say anything. No because only the kids are receptive these days. Everyone else acts like you're wrong.

Any Whopper Plopper 130 Size Users ?
75 and 110 are the best for me
-
Last year I developed confidence and skill in jigs. And now,
I've always used casting and spinning gear when "appropriate" but the Wacky, Ned, and weightless Trick Worm were what I used 75% of the time because they just work. I've learned you can also get numbers AND size with jigs. It's about placement and confidence.

Last year I developed confidence and skill in jigs. And now,
I primarily just fish with jigs. There's been a complete shift in how I've approached bass fishing. Before you would find my with spinning gear 75% of the time because I like finesse fishing. Now I'm 99% power fishing on casting gear with jigs. My numbers of fish caught hasn't changed much, but the size has increased a lot. Honestly with experience jigs don't feel too much different than Texas Rigs.

I'm beginning to think that lure color doesn't matter.
Lure color for me is for me and not the fish. I'm confident in certain colors. It probably usually doesn't matter. Blacks, blues, purples, and browns and greens, white and chartreuse...not enough difference. I wouldn't fish a rainbow Senko or something with much confidence.
