Line Rating vs Diameter
That is not true. Although there are no industry standards, Ande might be close. Ande lines are IGFA certified and account for more Line World Records than all other brands combined. Ande #6 has a diameter of .010" and is exactly 6 lb test. Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 is .010" diameter, but is 11.9 lb test. 8-)

Why do crankbait rods have to be different from standard rods??
A soft tip helps prevent the treble hooks from being pulled out. Maybe this will help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)

Why does a rod say medium "action" when they really mean POWER??
Well, generally their target market doesn't know the difference! :

Berkley Vanish?
This question comes up quite often. Some people like Vanish, most do not. I fished the original several years ago and it was one of the worst lines I have ever used. I have heard much better reports on the "New and Improved", but I will never give it a shot: Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. 8-)

Which Power and action rod?
Fishing soft plastics and jigs requires Fast Action and a firm tip. Here are my basic suggestions: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)

Re: You Gotta Love This...
Welcome aboard! I think you need a little different mix, especially for treble hook lures: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)

AIG Bailout
Well, after saying they wouldn't do it, they did to the tune of $85B: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,423785,00.html

President Franklin D. Smallmouth
We generally count either boat totals or over 5 lbs. My best boat total was twenty-five smallmouth fishing three guys. My best day personally was fifteen with seven over 5 lbs. Both of these days were in January, 2005. We start smallmouth fishing again this season as soon as we have enough current. I hope this will be a better year than fall 2007 - winter 2008. 8-)

reel issues...what to do?
Geez Cliff... If you weren't paying attention to anything else I thought you might notice that Hot Sauce is only recommended for oiling the inside of a trash can! :

Who is your favorite all time quarterback?
John Elway I hold a lot of others in high regard, including most that have already been mentioned, but Dan Marino was a wimp! 8-)

---> what's your go-to jig trailer color? <---
Raul: When it comes to jigs I 'm as cheap as I can get, since a jig in my hands only last in the best of cases a fishing trip ( you have no idea how many jigs I 've lost on the first cast ) I choose BPS jigs, they are dirt cheap and have good hooks.

---> what's your go-to jig trailer color? <---
1/2 oz black & black, black & blue and watermelon with black flakes. Trailers: GYCB Flappin' Hog, Paca Craws and Baby Paca Craws, GYCB Fat Baby Craws, Kreature and Double Tail Grub, Double Wide Beaver and Uncle Josh Pork. 8-)

Ok I'm on the bandwagon
Geez...How long have you been in a coma? The GYCB Senko has been the most productive bass bait in the world for more than ten years. :

Oil Prices Plunge!
No...The airlines are on the ropes. After working through some form of "restructuring" with Lehman, AIG, Washington Mutual, Thornburg, GM, Ford and Chrysler, we will then have to deal with some form of nationalization of the airline industry. Their situation is hopeless. I don't see lower fares on the horizon regardless of the price for fuel. BTW, Although Fannie and Freddie have fallen out of the headlines, the issues remain OVERWHELMING and are nowhere close to a resolution!

whats you favorite plastic to use on a T-rig/tips for fishing a T-rig (texas rig)?
Although you are technically correct, I think common fishing nomenclature would include both weighted and weightless presentations. I never fish Senkos or Fat Ika weighted, but always fish worms, tubes and lizards with a weight; GYCB Kreature and Slug-Go, sometimes. The difference is both depth and action. As is the case with most aspects of fishing, "there are many ways to skin a cat!" 8-)

FLW Cup.....
Man this is what we use to catch bait with on the Tennessee River: http://www.cabelas.com/link-12/product/0018160316996a.shtml I bet it would work up there, too! :

rod longevity?
Just pulling your chain... I can't get the image out of my mind: Raul on the shoreline, surrounded by canyon walls, casting his Lightning Rod saddled with his "muted red" Pixy reel. You need one of these, too: http://www.riverbum.com/Tilley-T4-Cotton-Duck-Hat/ 8-)

convince me to move to Colorado
I lived in Denver for 17 years (1981-1997). The hunting is outstanding for a variety of birds and big game. However, the bass fishing is way below average and the season is just as limited as it is in most northern states. I love Colorado, but if bass fishing is an overriding consideration, it's not the right state.

Fishing With Ike
You posted a picture from Lake Fork a couple of weeks ago with me and one of those ugly green fish. Maybe I'll catch something brown in a few weeks and post a "pretty" pic! 8-)

Whats your favorite Shallow Crankbaits

rod longevity?
Muddy, I have never had a rod "fail" either, but I have broken a few! The insurance is a nice feature and offers a great deal of comfort for what I consider a nominal cost. Unless you lose a higher end St. Croix or G. Loomis, you will have that rod or a replacement forever! More importantly, at least to me, is the added enjoyment that comes from fishing with top notch gear. It's not all about "catching", it's about making the "fishing experience" more fun! 8-)
