My suggestion is any one of these, basically "white". White is the best representation for a variety of baitfish, especially shad. 8-)

Well, I'm a Shimano fan. Although I have given a few away over the years, every Shimano reel I have ever owned is still in use. They are as fine a reel today as they were the first day out of the box, maybe better! Everyone has a favorite brand. For me that's Shimano: Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. 8-)

If the CH50MG or Core doesn't fit your budget, the Citica or Curado are very dependable reels. I would pop for the 2009 models being introduced, but the '08s are or will be on sale, bigtime! 8-)

The purple smoke is fine in all water, but it really disappears in stained water. Green is a better match in clear water, but as I said, you will be fine with the line you already have. 8-)

Broke through $105!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Currently trading down @ $103.76. Contributing factors are (1) OPEC's apparent decision to leave production levels steady and (2) Hurricane Ike moving further south down the Texas coast, away from oil platforms. At this point a significant drop in prices is likely. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I don't like the magnetic braking system. I have used this reel a lot and still have trouble with adjustments. I am sending it in to The Reel Mechanic just to be sure it is functionally perfect, but I don't think that's the problem. With Shimano centrifugal brakes I generally set them once and never make adjustments. "Tweaking" can be accomplished with the cast control. For the most part I'm two brakes on, four off. The Revo STX braking system requires significant adjustment on every outing. It's as if the brakes "don't remember" where they are set. I also have issues when using different lures, not so much weight as aerodynamics. I think I read that Abu Garcia is changing the system to centrifugal brakes in their new models, but someone may correct me on that. Bottomline: Shimano reels are user friendly for me, the STX is not. 8-)

If you're happy with Yo-Zuri Hybrid, stick with it. For clear water (Dale Hollow) I would suggest original Hybrid #6 in green. Treat it with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and you will be fine. In clear water, green is virtually invisible. 8-)
