You might be able to pick up one the Avids that are being liquidated. $65 is the lowest price that I have seen posted on the Forum. At anything around $100 that would be a great choice. I would focus on the AS68MXF or AS70MF.

The MBR844C is a very versatile rod and my favorite. This G.Loomis would be my suggestion for an "all-around" rod. However, I like fishing "technique specific" equipment. So, for the particular applications you mentioned, I am fishing a St. Croix Legend Elite EC70MHF which has a slightly softer tip.

THE "attended" are the guys that say XYZ High School.

I hope you will post a DETAILED report after you fish them for awhile.

Not meant to be heated. In any production run, some of the rods came out as designed. The entire issue is really about quality control. The components are what might be expected at the pricing point, but my issue was (is) about delivering a "quality" product at ANY pricing point. St. Croix has established a reputation for quality over a period of decades. I do NOT like that history being blemished.

Hmm... It works well for me. The lack of memory combined with exceptional strength and abrasion resistance are the main reasons, but those attributes combined with a VERY stealthy or almost invisible presentation seals the deal.

Well, here is a NEW DISCOVERY. I spooled up a spinning reel yeaterday with Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6, green. On the spool it almost looks like braid, but in my crystal clear pool it was TOTALLY invisible! I have been fishing #6 clear and #4 original Hybrid which are both "nearly invisible", but this was my first experience with "green". Man, I was shocked! 8-)
