Gamma Please!
I guess you can look it up for a technical definition, but for fishing lines is just means more than one type of nylon compound is used to make the line.

Bassmasters vs. FLW
** MODERATOR NOTE ** Wow! I just read through this whole thread...twice! I think it's reached a stalemate and has gotten "personal". Anyhow, let's leave it here... This thread is closed. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

What is "High Sticking"
I suspect the "working pros" have to pay for some of their gear, the stuff they "really use". : Bill Dance, on the otherhand, probably doesn't have a thing he has had to purchase! In addition to all of his specific sponsors, I would guess his association with Bass Pro Shops provides him an unlimited equipment allowance. 8-)

Strangest Things Used
Welcome aboard! Perhaps the "strangest" is nothing at all! During a REALLY hot bite, I have caught white bass on a bare hook. 8-)

Here's one for RW and the rest of the Shimano posse.
Woo-Hoo! Man, that's a beauty! 8-)

I need to by a rod for Jigs
The recommendation was just Heavy Power/ Fast Action or Extra Fast Action. I like a stiff rod for jigs. Although I have fished jigs with my new St. Croix Legend Elite EC70MHF, I like the additional stiffness of Heavy Power better. As always, personal preference comes into play. 8-)

What is "High Sticking"
Bill Dance gets away with it because lifting those big fish on TV looks cool! If he breaks a rod, do you think he gets it replaced for free? : 8-)

New rod suggestions
If you can find the St. Croix Avid with the Power and Action you are looking for (on sale), this is the "best value" in the market today. Some members (Fish Tank?) have found the rods on sale at Gander Mountain for $69. Any price around $100 is a steal! 8-)

Daiwa Exceler or Shimano Symetre?????
The Shimano Symetre is considered by many members of The Shimano Possee to be the "best value" in the Shimano line-up. I happen to prefer the Stradic. Either way, these are fine reels that, with proper maintenance, will last a decade or more. The reels I have had, going back to 1997, are all in use today and perform EXACTLY as they did the day they came out of the box! Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. 8-)

Question? What Would You Use???
If I only had one rig for everything: G. Loomis MBR844C/ Shimano Calais 200/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12. 8-)

Here's one for RW and the rest of the Shimano posse.
Unfortunately, the pics don't come up for me at home or at the office. I'm pretty sure I don't have a "Shimano Blocker" in place. : 8-)

TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Yeah, that's a hot look, for sure! Linda Hamilton spent some time getting pumped for T-2 and it shows. Tough as nails with a sexy flare. 8-)

anyone catching any smallmouth around wheeler or wilson???
Unfortunately, I have to fish on the weekends when the TVA is pretty stingy with their water. When we have had water (20,000+ cfs) the fishing has been okay, but not great. I had one 5+ in October, but nothing exciting since. We fish below Pickwick Dam, but your situation should be very similar. We drift BIG minnows on a split shot rig. Ideally, the boat should be positioned just a little more than casting distance from the bank. Control the boat with the trolling motor so that both you and the baitfish are moving at about the same speed. Cast slightly upstream and maintain occasional contact with the bottom. I fish spinning tackle, #4 or #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft and #6 Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks. Good luck! 8-)

TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I think the good Terminator told Sarah she died of cancer. Also, when Sarah asked chickie "Don't you have to follow orders from me" or something along that line, I thought good T said, "Not yet." So the robot does some things at this point, like shooting the old guy, that protects John and mom, whether they agree or not. That's a twist.

Do I get the credit for fish landed from my boat?
Well, you already know that's a great fish, but that pic looks more like 18-7! 8-)

Guntersville
I think some of the guys have posted suggestions on Alpsters "Guntersville" site in preparation for the BassResource.com Roadtrip, March 23-28th. From what I read, it's all about vegetation and grasslines associated with spawning areas.

What is "High Sticking"
Maybe one of our rod makers will have a better technical description, but in the mean time: "High sticking" is raising the tip of the rod at an angle that creates maximum pressure at the apex of the bend. Instead of distributing the weight along the blank, it become concentrated in one spot, the "breaking point".

Travel Case for rods
I guess I have the Pro version. No issues, HIGHLY recommended!

Smithwick Colors
+1 Or, substitute a Rapala Husky Jerk in the Blue & Silver (J10 or J12) just to try a different brand. 8-)
