One rod to rule them all?
It's like Tiger Woods playing golf with nothing but a 7 iron. He would still win, but most guys would find it "challenging". 8-)

Curious on what the current ACTUAL makeup of the site is...

Seriously,do you guys carry a rod and reel combo for every type of fishing you do?
4pwr, Here is a basic explanation: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546

? about two St Croix rods
Soft plastics on lighter line. 8-)

what do you think about fishing tackle
The move to offshore assembly is driven by consumer demand for better prices. The major concern, from the consumers point of view, is quality control. This has always been a problem and continues to this day. St. Croix manufactures all of their rods except the Triumph domestically.

Best line for spinning rig???
Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (11.9 lb test). This line is as tough as P-Line and in use, has virtually no memory. 8-)

need another rod
If you can find one on sale, St. Croix Avid AC66MF. Although this is rated Fast Action, the tip is soft and is appropriate for all treble hook lures. This is a fine rod for crankbaits, but you will particularly like the way it handles topwater lures and jerkbaits. I think you will also like this rod for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. With the exception of soft plastics and jigs, this is truely an "all-around" stick. 8-)

Collecting technique specific equipment is just part of the fun for a lot of guys. All your fishing can be done with one rod and three covers just about everything: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)

Kinami vs Yamamoto
Well, this used to come up every other week. For the past year or so we have cut it off early by referencing the Senko Sticky, but since it's been awhile, maybe we'll let it run another page or maybe not... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 The Kinami vs. Yamamoto discussion is well documented in a couple of threads listed. :

What's your go-to line brand?
I plan to continue experimenting with a few new lines every year, but as of now, this is my fourth year with Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft as my main lines. Prior to Yo-Zuri, P-Line was my standard, but the memory of the CXX and inconsistancy of the Floroclear were big negatives for me. For all the P-Line fans, try a spool of Y-Z for yourself and see what you think. 8-)

Yo RW.......Lighten up dude.
In the restaurant business, it's know as a "grease trap"; in plumbing a U-bend or more commonly just the "trap". On this Forum it's called "Everything Else". The section is suppose to be "Just For Fun". When it gets serious, it's not always fun. Drawing the line is not clear-cut and some will always be disappointed with the decision to edit, delete or close a thread. It's not always "fair", but we try to be! :

Which baitcaster would you pick?????

How about them Patriots
One game away from history. Run the table and let everyone say what they like, but this Patriots team can simply stand on their record. Another Super Bowl ring for Tom Brady, four and still counting? 8-)

Trophy Crappie???
For me, any fish I would mount would have to be something special for the species and I would still probably opt for a replica. For a crappie I would think 4lbs at the least.
-
Carrot stix or Avid???
I don't know anything about the Carrot Stix, but I own an Avid AS66MLF. Assuming the blank on the casting version is similar, the tip is too soft for soft plastics and light jigs. The "package" is better matched with a smaller reel, too. I have my spinning version saddled with a Stella 1000FA which makes this a great set-up for white bass, crappie and stocker trout. This rod performs best with "moving" lures: Panther Martin, Floating Rapala and Countdown, light poppers, crappie jigs, grubs and live bait. 8-)

Did I pick the right reel/rod?
Welcome aboard! Your new rig will work well for everything you have in mind, but it is especially well suited for fishing soft plastics! For spinning tackle I recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (11.9 lb test). Also, this line floats. Good luck! 8-)

It's about time!
