  1. For all treble hook lures (crankbaits, jekbaits and topwater) I would recommmend Medium Power/ Moderate Action for medium weight lures. For heavy and deep diving lures, Heavy Power/ Slow Action (glass). Specifically, I fish a St. Croix AC70MM and a Lamiglas SR705R.
  2. So, what size hook are you guys fishing 'em on? :
  3. Here's one thread, but if you look through the "Bass Clubs" section of the Forum, there are several others: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189553179

  5. Welcome aboard! You should look at combinations (rod w/ reel) at the major retailers. This is an example: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90836_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 Be patient, ALL combinations are on sale sometime during the year. The stores kind of rotate their sale items, but you should NEVER pay full retail price.
  6. This is a "river lake". There are stump fields, but no standing timber. There is grass and other vegetation, but not everywhere. The focus is "structure," both deep and shallow. Guntersville is a completely different lake if you are comparing it to Fork.
  7. I consider 10'-13' intermediate, but to answer your question: Fat Free Shad & DD22 will both "bang the bottom."
  8. I don't think I have ever seen a favorable review of Vicious lines except from guys that are sponsored or employed by the company. Please be sure to follow-up with a review after fishing the line for awhile.
  9. ;D ;D ;D WOO-HOO! ;D ;D ;D Congratulations! 8-)
  10. As a HUGE John Elway fan, I hated it when that "Never won a Super Bowl" guy down in Florida played an extra year just to beat John's records. I ought to feel the same way about Brett, but I have just admired his play for too many years. Brett Farve is everything a Role Model should be. I hope he continues having a great year and comes back for another! Brett Farve is THE MAN. p.s. KU, I was at the Monday Night game in Denver when Joe Montana was with the Chiefs. Big John put on an "Elway Comeback" and then with 1:29 left in the game, Joe pulled off a "Montana" (75 yard drive for the winning touchdown). Man, that was a exhibition in excellence! Brett Farve is definitely a class act and in the same league with those two guys.
  11. Hey guys! Let's move on...I think there are a few more games left on the schedule.
  12. That would be me. YOU, my friend, need to try out the Lamiglas SR705R.
  13. Hmm... For ALL baitcasting applications, Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test). Virtually no memory in use, highly abrasion resistant, does not require any special knot, impervious to water and UV light (the line does not get "old").
  14. Well, first of all, I have never had a problem with BPS. However, if I were having this problem with ANY company I would not continue doing business with them. As alternatives these are some retailers that are high on my list: Cabela's, Reed's Family Outdoor Outfitters and Tackle Warehouse.
  15. I prefer the 128 in Aurora Black (blue). This is by far, my #1 topwater lure.

Wassup? You didn't like these responses? http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1193576657/0 Well, I sticking with mine: GYCB Kreature http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581

Glad to hear you're back in the saddle, but didn't Stick Marsh count? Anyhow, get out there an catch a bigun'. 8-)
  18. I would NOT recommend Vanish, but 6-8 lb fluorocarbon or copolymer is a good idea for finessee fishing at Bull Shoals. For "power fishing" a thicker line will be okay. I fish Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft on spinning tackle, #12 on baitcasting gear. I had my "best ever" fishing days on Bull Shoals fishing 3 1/2" Mizmo Gitzit (Kent's Classic, squash green). I would also recommend fishing jerkbaits in low light. If you are staying near the dam, visit Big Red's Bait & Tackle in Lakview. You can also buy beer and liquor a couple of blocks down the road.
  19. I would suggest keeping an eye on the "Flea Market" here on the Forum. There are some GREAT deals, both new and used that come up all the time. I recently puchased a couple of reels and after servicing by ReelMech, still paid about 50% of (new) retail price. Rather than buying "refurbished" from a distant 3rd party, I prefer David Green's tune-up and inspection. Who do you trust?
  20. Unscramble The Code letters: O-N-A-M-I-H-S http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/category.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036590&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1194291481255 Access each category for saltwater safe reels.

  22. I had no dog in the fight, so no bias...but not only was this one of the worst officiated games I can remember, nearly all of the WORST calls went against the Patriots! The announcers couldn't even come up with an excuse for the interference call on Moss. Man...bad calls always suck, but especially in BIG games.
  23. Well, maybe you can't keep them constantly rigged, but if you simply cut the jig off and put the whole thing back into the jar, it keeps indefinitely. Yeah, you have to retie, but you don't have to mess with removing the trailer.
  24. avid customized his canoe by attaching stabilizers: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1194219471/0
  25. Well, although I have been having pretty good luck with plastic trailers, Uncle Josh Pork Trailers have been 100% consistant producers! How's that for a statement? This winter, I think I'll be fishing the pork.
