  1. Welcome aboard!
  2. Catt strikes again. Great post! 8-)
  3. Mostly to protect the knot, but beads will also "click" when they get knocked around or hit a rock.

    Just another "average" girl. 8-)
  5. I don't really have a preference either, I fish both. My round reels are CTE200GT (5.0:1) so the applications I use them for are significantly different than my LPs which are all VERY fast.
  6. I like the analogy jwo1124 put together because it illustrates my experience with using scent or attractants. Although I still have seven or eight bottles of various brands (some remnants, some nearly new), I only use MegaStrike. MegaStrike is a user friendly gel that generally lasts for an entire outings and is as "successful" as I expect an attractant to be. This product's lubricationg capacity is especially well suited for swimbaits and soft plastics. If you are going to experiment with attractants, MegaStrike is the one I would recommend.
  7. What a year! First or even second would be a great way to END the season, but no one wants to be there right now! That's the "kiss of death".
  8. Welcome aboard! Besides the fishing we have several guys that can help you with the boat. Good luck with your project.
  9. Hmm... Ridiculous! Get your college diploma and then look at your options. Congratulations on your upcoming high school graduation, but you have NOT earned a year off. College is almost automatically worth a million dollars over your working career. Very few professional fishermen have earned (or will ever earn) a million dollars total in their entire career.
  10. It really is amazing, ain't it?
  11. Nope. Check your security filters.
  12. Welcome aboard! I own two CTE200GT (5.0:1). This reel is best suited for fishing jigs, soft plastics, deep diving crankbaits, small swimbaits (Mattlures Baby Bass, 1.3 oz.) and live bait for BIG fish (stripers). The reel is relatively small, but EXTREMELY powerful, almost indestructable and smooth. With proper maintenance, you will fish this reel the rest of your life.
  13. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1186055966
  14. Here is a thread for you: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782
  15. How 'bout a review? This was one of the most anticipated reels Shimano has ever introduced and I haven't seen anyone talking about them. Wassup?
  16. There is a thread running on Reed's St. Croix liquidation sale. Avid rods are going to run you about $100 each, but no tax or shipping charges! Soft plastics and jigs: AC68MXF or AC70MHXF Crankbait (all treble hooks) and spinnerbait: AC66MF Spinning rod: Depends on what you plan to fish, but probably an AS66MF or AS70MF http://www.reedssports.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------- Oops! Check the site tomorrow and see if anything is updated, but right now it looks like all my suggestions have sold out. Whatever they held back, if any, are no longer offered at the sale price. You might try calling them, too.
  17. Hey Zel! Great reference link.
  18. I use 4/0 EWG for almost every soft plastic and specifically GYCB Kreatures.
  19. At least try on a CTE200GT, that's what I have on mine. This is a relatively small, but powerful round reel. My MBR844 is my dedicated jig rig, but it's also my striper rod. You may decide this is not the reel for you, but it is EXACTLY the right reel for jig fishing and BIG fish!
  20. WOW! When you visit Reed's site today you're going to be amazed at how many rods have already sold out or have been removed from the sale. I suppose they hold a few back and try to get full price for them, but MAN!, that deal is hot.
  21. My father-in-law passed away last week. He and his wife had been in a long-term care facility for nearly five years. For the last two years they required 24 hour monitoring and seperate, individual rooms. For the last year or so my wife's father has been comatose. Cost PER MONTH, a staggering $19,000! Quality of life...ZERO.
  22. Welcome aboard! If you are just fishing the DD22 occasionally, any rod will do. If you have a rod rated MH or Heavy Power with a soft tip, Moderate or Slow Action, those would be better. If you are looking for a particular, technique specific rod to buy, I recommend the Lamiglas SR705R.
