  1. DING! DING! DING! DING! We might have a winner! That is a pitiful story. :
  2. You da MAN! 8-)
  3. Regarding all soft plastics: 1. Your rod should be Medium to Heavy Power/ Fast Action with a firm tip. 2. I STRONGLY recommend high quality 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks (Gamakatsu, XPoint and Owner). 3. Hook-set should be quick and firm (snap-set). 4. Maintain tension at all times. If the fish is not running against drag, it should be moving your way. Fish should rarely (never) get off a single hook bait/ lure. After landing a few you will gain a great deal of confidence and this will not continue to be a problem.
  4. Oh! Photo opp at the restaurant? Hmm... And are you going to share, The Rest Of The Story? :
  5. The Maryland State Record is 11 lb 2 oz. I consider a HUGE bass to be 80% of a state record in any state. So, a MD monster would be 8.9 lbs. On the otherhand, a 10 lb fish is a "Trophy Bass" anywhere, including the Big Four States.
  6. Paris Hilton at a fishing exposition. What will they think of next?
  7. Next thing you know, Muddy will be switching to Shimano reels and GYCB plastics! :
  8. I think you'll find this thread pretty interesting: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1187794805
  9. Although I generally agree, there's nothin' country about Rascal Flats, this band has a couple of redeeming aspects: 1. This is my 18 year old daughter's favorite band. 2. Because of R.F., my daughter and most of her friends listen to country music and are "into" several other groups (LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland and many others). 3. If it weren't for R.F., my daughter might be into the other crap! Rap, Heavy Metal and Alternative are things I'm glad she avoids.
  10. Welcome aboard! That fish in your avatar looks to be 5lbs easy. : How much did she weigh? 8-)
  11. Mick, Maybe it's the nylon component that makes the line float, but EVERY size floats. I think you will be VERY pleased with #6 Hybrid Ultra Soft on your spinning tackle.
  12. roadwarrior replied to Boett43's topic in Fishing Tackle
For almost all soft plastics I fish 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu or XPoint Offset Worm Hooks (Owner is another brand that has a big following). For smaller presentations I also use 3/0 EWG or even 2/0 EWG. For 7" Senkos and the Senko Swimbait, 5/0 Offset Round Bend. I STRONGLY recommend spending the money on high quality hooks. Save money other places, do NOT skimp on hooks or line.
  13. Why not just dig up The Bear? You don't need a live coach to lose to Monroe. :
  14. I received an invoice and e-mail confirmation within fifteen minutes of placing my order. Check your in box, if you didn't receive an e-mail from Reed's, you better check with them.
  15. You might want to give Yo-Zuri Hbrid Ultra Soft a try, I think you will like it: Spinning tackle: #6 (11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: #12 (19.5 lb test) Hybrid is a bonded (not coated) copolymer blend of nylon and fluorocarbon. In use, the Hybrid Ultra Soft has virtually no memory, overtests significantly and is impervious to water and UV light so it does not get "old". No special knot is required and it floats!
  16. ;D ;D ;D DUDE! ;D ;D ;D That's a beauty. Great story and pics, too. Congratulations! 8-)
  17. KU can still make it to the title game by beating the Tigers and then the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship. However, the Oklahoma loss probably takes Mizzo-Rah out of the picture even if they win out. This was a bigtime loss for the conference.
  18. If you have fished big lakes in your boat and are comfortable, you will be fine. There is plenty of shoreline, coves and protected areas that are easily accessable. You may find that putting in closer to where you want to fish is a better option than running up and down the lake, but that is the case anywhere.
  19. Take a look at the Shimano Citica at around $100. If you can pop for more money, the Curado would be the next stop, then the Chronarch, Core and Calais. I'm told other companies make baitcasters, too, but I wouldn't pay any attention to them. : 8-)
  20. Hmm... I'm not sure that's what you meant to say... :
  21. Gotta specify whether it's an AS or AC rod and a pricing point for the reel.
  22. ** Moderator Note ** Nothing has been deleted or edited, but this thread is headed south. Let's move on. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  23. ;D ;D ;D ;D OUTSTANDING! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  24. I was REALLY surprised.
