  1. I'm surprised nobody mentioned "Amarillo By Morning" from George Strait.
  2. Favorite Rock & Roll Bands of all-time: #1 Rolling Stones (Greatest R&R song of all-time: Sympathy For The Devil) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sympathy_for_the_Devil #2 Led Zeppelin (2nd best R&R song of all-time: Stairway To Heaven) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stairway_To_Heaven #3 Santana #4 George Thorogood and The Deleware Destroyers
  3. *** CLARIFICATION *** I did NOT fish for bedding bass in Texas, nor do I intentionally fish for bedding bass anywhere.
  4. EXCELLENT!
  5. Congratulations to your friend. I'm not calling him out, but if that story is true, it might be the biggest day in the history of smallmouth fishing. I know St. Clair produces some great numbers and a 6+ lb smallmouth on occasion, but ten in one day by one fisherman would be miraculous.
  6. Welcome aboard!
  7. Hmm... Most frogs are green. Maybe that would be a good color to try. :
  8. Get yourself a nice pair of sun glasses: "The future's so bright, ya gotta wear shades!" BTW, CONGRATULATIONS! Your best years are still ahead of you.
  9. Although I voted no and will not fish beds, the Lake Fork trip kinda changed my view about bed fishing in general. That lake gets pounded everyday by literally thousands of fisherman fishing, for the most part, EXACTLY the same spots over and over again. Our favorite Administator and his wife Kerri caught their big bass on spinnerbaits :-/ in an area that had probably been fished by one hundred guys a day, everyday for months! Not everyone fished the beds at Fork, but THOUSANDS do...Still plenty of fish for everyone, BIG FISH, too! So, high pressure, "common" baits and some focus on bedding bass has not hurt this fishery one iota. Maybe that would be different in other regions or on specific bodies of water, but certainly not at Lake Fork.
  10. "...and the beat goes on..." 2007 has started out pretty well for you, Fish_Chris. Maybe you'll catch a bigun' this year! : Great story, great pics, great fish. Thanks for sharing another great day with us mere mortals.

Okay, but "The" World Record Striper on rod and reel was caught in Atlantic City, NJ. http://www.stripers247.com/Almcreynoldsrecordstriper.htm BTW, Tennessee State Record 65 lbs 6 oz Cordell Hull Reservior Ralph Dallas 5/01/00
  12. Most people are right handed. Most manufactures offer models of their reels with handles on the left if that's your preference. I fish baitcasting reels with right-hand retrieve, it's no big deal. I was born with two hands and I use them both.
  13. Welcome aboard! I think ww2farmer meant to say one spinning rod and one casting rod. I think some people might prefer 6 1/2', but I'm with him and his 7' recommendation. I also agree that these two rods are all you really neeed for bass fishing.
  14. Welcome aboard! Some of the guys have pretty good luck with a 5" Senko made by Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits. 8-)
  15. Man, that's a trophy!
  16. Banjo Minnows work when anything else would have worked better. Save yourself a lot of money and try a bag of Slug-Go or Zoom Super Flukes. These are much better baits and they cost about 80% less!
  17. Welcome aboard! There is an eye on the front of the reel (line guide) that moves the line from side to side when you retrieve. Run the line completely through the reel, inside the frame and out the back. If your ran your line over the top of the spool, run the line under the spool and completely out the front. Create enough slack so you can work with a complete loop that is now around your spool. Tie an Arbor Knot, tighten and trim: http://www.animatedknots.com/arbor/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com Here is another picture of what you are trying to accomplish, but remember to start the line through the line guide: ttp://www.activeangler.com/articles/how-to/articles/knots/arbor.asp
  18. When you see some the commercials for Spiderman III, don't try that at home either!
  19. Nice bass. Congratulations!
  20. Well, when it comes to "smart," if it was something you could see, you'd need a microscope to look at "bass smart." I really don't know how we can evaluate lure shyness, but smallmouth don't have the reputation that Florida strain largemouth have when they grow older. My best guess is simply the short time period when northern smallmouth are active. It's their "window of opportunity."
  21. Welcome aboard! Take a look at this thread, I think it will help with the "learning process" http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1151590913
  22. "I wish they all could be California girls"
  23. Attach the line to the spool like you would on any other reel. I use an Arbor Knot: http://www.animatedknots.com/arbor/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
  24. If you want to kick it up a notch, take a look at the CTE200GT. If you want a great, round, baitcasting reel, this is the one I would HIGHLY recommend.
